해상용 태양열 시스템 개발을 위한 일사량 평가 (The Radiation Evaluation for Development of Solar System by Using Solar on the Sea)

  • Recently due to the environmental pollution and the requirement for the substitute energy the interest for development of the solar energy system has been highly escalated It has been approved that the solar energy is a very useful on e because of purity and low cost. Some studies about the evaluation of solar radiation on the land has been carried out but few studies on the sea. This paper deals with a study on the evaluation of solar radiation on the sea. The experiments were carried out on the training vessel on the adjacent water of Korea Japan and China for twenty days. The distributions of solar radiation from the sea were changed into nonlinear in from according to the temperature. The solar radiation on the sea has a great influence on the velocity of wind as well as the temperature The distribuition of solar radiation has higher values on the track of the coastal sea than the open sea at same conditions.

저선량 방사선이 저온 저장한 감자 기내 소괴경의 휴면타파와 생육에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Low Dose γ Radiation on the Dormancy Breaking and Growth of in vitro Microtubers of Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) Stored at Low Temperature)

  • 기내에서 생산하여 저온 저장한 감자품종 대지와 수미 소괴경의 휴면타파에 미치는 저선량 방사선의 효과를 조사하고자 ${\gamma}$선을 0.5-30 Gy 수준으로 조사하여 맹아발생과 맹아생육 및 온실에서의 생육과 수량 등을 조사하였다. 감자 괴경의 맹아율과 생육에 대한 저선량 방사선 효과는 저장기간과 품종에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 대지 품종은 대체로 2-8 Gy에서 빠른 맹아 출현율과 양호한 생육 및 수량을 보였으며, 수미 품종은 대체로 2-4 Gy에서 맹아 출현이 빨랐고 온실에서의 생육 및 수량은 4 Gy에서 양호한 증가 효과를 보였다. 이에 저선량 ${\gamma}$선이 감자의 휴면타파와 생육촉진에 효과가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 저선량 방사선조사에 의한 참박의 초기생육과 유묘 생리활성에 미치는 영향을 보고자 세 품종의 참박종자에 ${\gamma}$선을 $0.5{\sim}30\;Gy$까지 조사하여 온실에서 재배하며 관찰한 결과는 다음과 같다. 저선량에 의한 참박의 초기생육 효과는 품종에 따라 다른 경향을 보였는데 종자발아율의 경우는 대체로 2 Gy와 8 Gy에서 효과가 있었고, 초기생육에서는 Patner와 Support 품종에서는 4 Gy, 16 Gy, 20 Gy 조사구에서, FR용자는 1 Gy 조사구에서 효과적으로 증가하였다. 저선량 ${\gamma}$선을 조사한 참박 유식물체의 엽록소함량은 생육과 어떠한 경향을 보이지 않았으나 초기생육과 항산화효소 활성은 저선량 조사에 의해 대체로 증가하는 경향을 보였다.

  • 작물 초기생육에 대한 저선량 방사선의 효과를 보고자 벼, 콩, 들깨 종자에 저선량 $^{\gamma}$선을 조사하여 발아율과 초기 생육을 관찰하였다. 저선량 $^{\gamma}$선에 의한 작물의 생육초기 효과는 한정되었으나 작물과 생육특성에 따라 적정 선량은 다르게 나타났다. 벼종자의 발아율은 2Gy조사구에서, 유묘초장과 생체중은 0.5Gy에서 가장 높았으며,대두종자의 발아율과 유모생육은 4Gy에서 가장 양호하였다. 들깨종자의 저선량 $^{\gamma}$선 조사에 의해 생육이 다소 불량하였으나 발아율은 2Gy에서, 유묘초장과 생체중은 1Gy에서 증가효과를 나타내었다.

고농도 도공의 건조조건이 도공지의 품질에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Drying Condition of High Solid Coating on the Coated Paper Properties)

  • Effects of drying condition (IR radiation) on the optical properties and the printability of coated paper were elucidated at various latex sizes and low and high coating color concentrations. It was found that the smaller latex provided better rheology and higher dry and wet pick strength than the larger one. The high solids coating resulted in higher paper gloss and smaller roughness than the low solids coating, even though the clay addition was reduced by 20 parts in the high solids coating. Increasing IR radiation prohibited binder migration into the base paper. Thus it improved binder distribution and decreased pores in the coated layer, resulting in the increased dry and wet pick strength and the improved printing gloss. On the other hand, the color trapping and ink set-off was impaired with increasing IR radiation. Print mottle index passed through a maximum with increasing IR radiation.

  • In this paper, we performed a evaluation for angular and energy dependence of military radiation detector PDR-1K. Its measuring range is divided into two section, low and high, and each range has a GM tube separately owing to broad scale. We observed a change in relative angular reactivity within 0.928 ~ 1.188 in low range and within 0.743 ~ 1.000 in high range from $-90^{\circ}$ to $+90^{\circ}$. The evaluation for energy dependence appeared a relative reactivity within 0.892 ~ 1.000 above 83 keV. This means PDR-1K isn't possible to use below 83 keV of radiation energy. It is possible to provide response information to user and to increase reliability of radiation measurement through this paper.

Space Radiation Shielding Calculation by Approximate Model for LEO Satellites

  • Two approximate methods for a cosmic radiation shielding calculation in low earth orbits were developed and assessed. Those are a sectoring method and a chord-length distribution method. In order to simulate a change in cosmic radiation environments along the satellite mission trajectory, IGRF model and AP(E)-8 model were used. When the approximate methods were applied, the geometrical model of satellite structure was approximated as one-dimensional slabs, and a pre-calculated dose-depth conversion function was introduced to simplify the dose calculation process. Verification was performed with mission data of KITSAT-1 and the calculated results were also compared with detailed 3-dimensional calculation results using Monte Carlo calculation. Dose results from the approximate methods were conservatively higher than Monte Carlo results, but were lower than experimental data in total dose rate. Differences between calculation and experimental data seem to come from the AP-8 model, for which it is reported that fluxes of proton are underestimated. We confirmed that the developed approximate method can be applied to commercial satellite shielding calculations. It is also found that commercial products of semi-conductors can be damaged due to total ionizing dose under LEO radiation environment. An intensive shielding analysis should be taken into account when commercial devices are used.

Effect of Gamma Irradiation on the Microflora of Commercial Ready-To-Use (RTU) Salads during Cold Storage

  • Since ready-to-use (RTU) products are not fully cooked, the shelf-life of the product is comparably short and the products are easily spoiled when contaminated with food-borne pathogens. Low-dose gamma irradiation of 0.5, 1, or 2 kGy effectively reduced the total aerobic bacterial counts in 2 Korean manufactured RTU products by 1.63 to 2.95 log CFU/g during cold storage. Irradiation at 2 kGy reduced the psychrotrophic bacterial counts in most of the samples to below the limit of detection (< log CFU/g). Irradiation at 0.5 kGy completely eliminated Escherichia coli from the commercial RTU samples.

Production and investigation of 3D printer ABS filaments filled with some rare-earth elements for gamma-ray shielding

  • Radiation is the main safety issue for almost all nuclear applications, which must be controlled to protect living organisms and the surrounding materials. In this context, radiation shielding materials have been investigated and used in nuclear technologies. The choice of materials depends on the radiation usage area, type, and energy. Polymer materials are preferred in radiation shielding applications due to their superior characteristics such as chemical inertness, resistivity, low weight, flexibility, strength, and low cost. In the presented work, ABS polymer material, which is possibly the most commonly used material in 3D printers, is mixed with Gd2O3 and Er2O3 nanoparticles. ABS filaments containing these rare-earth elements are then produced using a filament extruder. These produced filaments are used in a 3D printer to create shielding samples. Following the production of shielding samples, SEM, EDS, and gamma-ray shielding analyses (including experiments, WinXCOM, GEANT4, and FLUKA) are performed. The results show that 3D printing technology offers significant enhancements in creating homogeneous and well-structured materials that can be effectively used in gamma-ray shielding applications.

WISE 관측자료를 이용한 기상 및 복사 특성 분석 (Analysis of Meteorological and Radiation Characteristics using WISE Observation Data)

  • 차세대도시농림융합기상사업단의 에너지수지타워 관측자료를 이용하여 수도권 기상과 복사특성에 대하여 분석하였다. 서울 수도권에 위치한 총 14개 에너지수지타워의 기온, 풍속, 상대습도, 지표면 온도, 강수량, 단파 및 장파 복사량과 복사관측자료를 이용하여 산출한 알베도와 방출률을 분석하였다. 월별 자료에 따르면, 도시에 위치한 중랑지점에서 알베도는 낮고 방출률은 높은 특성을 나타냈고 교외지역인 부천지점에서는 반대의 특성이 나타났다. 자연적인 지표상태에서는 태양복사에너지를 효과적으로 반사하여 대부분 중랑지점보다 알베도가 높게 나타났다. 연 평균 기온이 비교적 높게 나타난 지점들은 서울 도심에 위치하고 있었으며, 알베도가 대체적으로 낮게 분포되었다. 가좌지점과 뚝섬지점은 관측 기온이 높았지만, 관측소 주변 유리벽 건물 및 한강으로 둘러싸인 환경으로 알베도가 비교적 높게 나타났다. 교외지역에 위치하고, 기온이 낮았던 지점들은 대체로 낮은 방출률을 나타냈다. 그 중 부천지점에서는 다소 높은 방출률이 나타났는데, 이는 관측지점 주변이 논과 밭으로 구성되어 있어 교외지역의 관측지점보다 지표면 온도가 상대적으로 낮게 관측되었기 때문이다. 결과적으로 도심지일수록 알베도는 감소하고, 방출률은 증가하는 경향을 확인할 수 있다. 또한, 서울 지역의 순 복사량이 $100Wm^{-2}$ 이하로 나타나 에너지가 대기 중에 흡수된 것으로 볼 수 있다.
