Most compressive strengths commonly used in the construction field are in a range of 240 to 300 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ at 28 days. To get this rage of strengths, however, high-flowing concrete requires cementitious binders more than 400 to 450 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ for preventing segregation and sedimentation of aggregates. This amount of cementitious binder generates a large emission of excessive hydration heat, which may consequently induce harmful cracks in concrete structure. In order to reduce excessive hydration heat, thus, this paper aims at fabricating a high-flowing concrete under the condition that cement content is kept as low as 350kg/$\textrm{cm}^3$ by using viscose agents. In a parametric study, effects of cement types such as a ternary blended cement and Type V on he physical characteristics of high-flowing concrete were evaluated. In addition, the influence of viscosity was also investigated by applying two different viscose agents, one in a range of 6,000 to 10,000 cps and the others of 10,000 to 14,000 cps. In terms of chemical admixtures used in concrete mixture, the superplasticizer was Sulfonated Melamine-Formaldehyde Condensate with about 30,000 of molecular weight, and main component of viscose agent was HPMC (Hydroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose). Slump flow was fixed at 50cm with different dosages of superplasticizer in weight.

Corrosion of steel reinforcing in concrete deteriorated by freezing/thawing and carbonation was characterized. Concrete specimens were prepared using various kinds of cements such as ordinary portland cement (type I), low heat portland cement (type IV, belite rich cement), sulphate resistance portland cement (type V), blast furnace slag portland cement and ternary blended cement. Of various cements, type V and type IV with lower $C_3A$ content revealed better steel corrosion resistance after freezing/thawing and carbonation. $C_3A$ content in cement might affect freezing/thawing resistance in sea water.

Supplementary cementing materials (SCM), such as silica fume, slag, and low-calcium fly ash, have been widely used as mineral admixtures in high strength and high performance concrete. Due to the chemical and physical effect of SCM on hydration, compared with Portland cement, hydration process of cement incorporating SCM is much more complex. This paper presents a numerical hydration model which is based on multi-component concept and can simulate hydration of cement incorporating SCM. The proposed model starts with mixture proportion of concrete and considers both chemical and physical effect of SCM on hydration. Using this proposed model, this paper predicts the following properties of hydrating cement-SCM blends as a function of hydration time: reaction ratio of SCM, calcium hydroxide content, heat evolution, porosity, chemically bound water and the development of the compressive strength of concrete. The prediction results agree well with experiment results.

In this study, it was founded to make the optimal mixture for producing concrete which is self-compacting, yet, and generates low heat of hydration by using flyash, blast furnace slags and limestone powders as binders in addition to cement while using super-plasticizers and viscosity agents as admixture agents. The structural behaviors of the concrete produced with the selected mixture were compared with those of the concrete currently using for construction of nuclear power plants. The study shows that the blended high fluidity concrete including limestone is better in workability and durability than the concrete currently in use for nuclear power plants.
To secure the thermal crack resistance of mass concrete, researches and the field applications of low heat portland cement (LPC), ternary blended cement (TBC) which is produced by blending ordinary portland cement with blast furnace slag and fly ash, and early strength low heat blended cement (EBC) increased in recent years. Although the model for adiabatic temperature rise is necessary for estimating the risk of thermal cracking of concrete structures, sufficient data have not been accumulated for these mixtures. In addition, the differences in adiabatic test results have been reported for the volume of test specimens. Therefore, the present study evaluated the characteristics of adiabatic temperature rise based on the type of binder and the volume of the adiabatic test specimen. Test results indicated that the maximum temperature rise ($Q_{\infty}$) and the reaction factor (r) of TBC were the lowest. Test results also showed that $Q_{\infty}$ and r changed with respect to the volume of test specimen. $Q_{\infty}$ and r obtained from 6l equipment were lower than those of 50l equipment. Therefore, corrections with respect to this phenomenon was confirmed and the corrections factors are presented.
Immersion tests with artificial seawater were carried out to investigate the resistance to seawater attack of 5 types of cement matrices. From the results of compressive strength and length change, it was found that blended cement mortars due to mineral admixtures, were superior to portland cement mortars with respect to the resistance to seawater attack. Moreover, XRD analysis indicated that the peak intensity ratio of low heat portland cement(LHC) paste, in portland cement pastes, had better results, and so did that of blended cement Paste. Pore volume of pastes by mercury intrusion porosimetry method demonstrated that total pore volume of ordinary portland cement(OPC) paste had a remarkable increase comparing with that of other pastes. In case of immersion of artificial seawater, the use of ground granulated blast-furnace slag and fly ash, however, showed the beneficial effects of 56% and 32% in reduction of total pore volume, respectively.

This paper evaluates the mechanical properties and durability of cement matrix blended with mineral admixtures and ferronickel slag(FNS) powder which is an industrial b y-product during ferronickel smelting process. The hydration heat, pore structure, compressive strength, length change, rapid chloride penetration test(RCPT), and freezing and thawing resistance of ternary blended cement matrix were investigated and compared with ordinary portland cement matrix. The result showed that the compressive strength of ternary blended cement matrix using ferronickel slag powder and mineral mixture was low in strength compared to the reference concrete, but recovered to a certain extent by using alkali activator. Length change of cement mortar using FNS powder have shown less shrinkage occurs than the reference specimen. In addition, irrespective of using the alkali-activators, all ternary mix are indicative of the 'very low' range for chloride ion penetrability according to the ASTM C 1202, and the freeze-thaw resistance also showed excellent results.

Concrete structures built on reclaimed land are combined with chemical erosion such as chlorine and sulfate ions from seawater. Chloride attack deteriorates the performance of the structure by corroding reinforcing bars. In addition, the waste water treatment structure has a problem that the concrete is deteriorated by the sulfate generated inside. Therefore, in this study, the characteristics and chemical resistance of low heat cement concrete used in wastewater treatment structures constructed on reclaimed land were evaluated. As a result of the experiment, the target slump and air content were satisfied under all the mixing conditions. The slump of low heat cement (LHC) concrete was higher than that of ordinary portland cement (OPC) concrete, while the air content of LHC concrete was smaller than that of OPC concrete with the same mix proportion. As a result of compressive strength test, OPC concrete showed higher strength at younger age compared to 28 days. In contrast, LHC concrete exhibited higher strength than OPC concrete at the age of 56 days. As a result of chlorine ion penetration tests, LHC-B concrete showed chlorine ion penetration resistance performance of the "very low" level at the age of 56 days. As a result of chemical resistance evaluation, when the LHC concrete is applied without epoxy treatment, chemical resistance is improved by about 18% compared to OPC concrete. In testing chemical resistance, the epoxy coated concrete exhibited less than 5% strength reduction when compared to sound concrete.

This research investigates the actual data and construction technology of the massive bottom slab placed by $23,000m^3$ concrete quantity in site of the in-ground type LNG receiving terminal having 20,000kl storage capacity. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum mix design and control the actual concreting procedures including concrete production, transportation, placement, vibrating and curing in site. For this purpose, the optimum mix design using ternary blended cement(furnace slag cement+fly ash) and under piping method having 11 gates and 7 distributors are selected. As test results of actual construction, concrete placement is finished during 68hours with good success and obtained the good quality of the fresh and hardened concrete including slump, air contents, no-segregation, compressive strength and low hydration heat. Also, actual data for all of concrete procedures are proved successful and satisfied with our specifications.
