수핵 탈출증에 대한 Cyriax 요추 견인법 (Cyriax's Lumbar Traction for Reduction of Nuclear Protrusion)

  • Traction is the treatment of choice for a small nuclear protrusion. The nucleus is soft and can be influenced by suction. Traction provides a method of improving on recumbency-the only effective treatment before traction was devised. The intention is to achieve rapid reduction by distraction the joint surfaces mechanically-a positive purpose-instead of merely avoiding the compression of the upright posture by putting the patient to bed and leaving him there. Recumbency, usually successful in the end, wastes an endless amount of the patient's time and money. Traction carries the further advantage of enabling the patient to be up and about, attending to his bussiness, during treatment. Traction brings the joint surfaces much farther apart than just lying in bed, a greater centripetal force acts on the protruded part of the nucleus. Traction has three beneficial effects; 1. Suction : a sub-atmospheric pressure induces a centripetal effect on the contents. 2. Distraction : increases the distance between the articular edges. X -rays have shown an increase in width of the joint of 2.5 mm. 3. Ligamentous tightening : the posterior longitudinal ligament tightens which then exerts centipetal force on a central protrusion.

산악지형에서 효율적인 2-Arch 터널의 설계사례 (Practical 2-Arch Road Tunnel Design in Mountainous area)

  • In mountainous area, Two parallel tunnels have been usually recognized as a road tunnel which has benefits in aspects of cost and stability. However, Design and construction of 2-Arch road tunnel are growing recently due to environmental destruction, compensation of land and difficulty of route separation. As studies are mainly undergoing on only guaranteeing stability and developing a waterproofing-drainage system to avoid water leakage through comprehension for characteristics of 2-arch tunnel behaviors, there is a tendency to evaluate quantity of support by empirical method with a tunnel which has a complicated cross-section and lack of construction ability. In this study, therefore, we made a plan of tunnel cross-section which had shown good construction ability and developed the waterproofing-drainage system which is able to solve the water leakage problem fundamentally by analyzing precedented 2-arch tunnels and investigating their sites in and out of nation. We also determined fixed quantity of support by a large-scale model test and numerical analysis. We want to contribute to 2-arch tunnel design hereafter introducing design procedure and method applied here.

Dynamic response of non-uniform Timoshenko beams made of axially FGM subjected to multiple moving point loads

  • This paper presents a finite element procedure for dynamic analysis of non-uniform Timoshenko beams made of axially Functionally Graded Material (FGM) under multiple moving point loads. The material properties are assumed to vary continuously in the longitudinal direction according to a predefined power law equation. A beam element, taking the effects of shear deformation and cross-sectional variation into account, is formulated by using exact polynomials derived from the governing differential equations of a uniform homogenous Timoshenko beam element. The dynamic responses of the beams are computed by using the implicit Newmark method. The numerical results show that the dynamic characteristics of the beams are greatly influenced by the number of moving point loads. The effects of the distance between the loads, material non-homogeneity, section profiles as well as aspect ratio on the dynamic responses of the beams are also investigated in detail and highlighted.

가속차로의 길이 제어와 고속도로 접속부 혼잡저감 효과 (Longitudinal Control of Acceleration Lanes and its Impact on Congestion Alleviation)

  • 고속도로 합류부의 반복정체는 모든 이의 일상이지만 정체가 발생한 이후에 마땅히 시도할 대책이 없는 것이 작금의 현실이다. 본 연구는 접속부에 혼잡이 발생한 후 상황에 따라 가속차로 길이를 동적으로 제어하여 본선에 대한 상대적인 우월성을 억제함으로써 혼잡구간의 정체를 저감시키는 기법을 제안하고 있다. 가속차로의 동적 제어가 미치는 교통영향 분석을 위해서 car-following 이론에 토대를 둔 미시 모형인 CORSIM을 사용하였으며, 본선의 수요는 LOS D/E로 유지하는 가운데 연결로 수요를 변화시킴으로서 접속부의 혼잡을 점진적으로 연출하고 본선과 가속차로의 운영속도가 역전되는 시점에 가속차로의 유효길이를 축소하는 기능을 구현하였다. 동적 제어의 대상이 되는 가속차로 길이는 세 가지로 제한하였으며 평가척도는 통행시간과 통과교통량으로 하였다. 또 경부고속도로에 신갈 JC서의 유사 운영 결과와 비교를 통해 모의실험 결과를 뒷받침하였다.

Safety analysis and design of full balanced hoist vertical shiplifts

  • The safety relating to leakage of water and pitch instability of ship chambers of the full balanced hoist vertical shiplifts has been the focus of adoption of the type of vertical shiplifts. This paper aims to remove the doubts through theoretical and engineering researches. The leakage and pitch stability of ship chambers of full balanced hoist vertical ship lifts are investigated on the basis of theoretical analysis and exploration of engineering measures. Regarding the issue of leakage of ship chambers, a mathematical model on leaking process is built and corresponding formula and coping measures are obtained which can be applied in control program of ship lifts by linking with monitoring. The concept of safety grade is put forward to seek the best technical and economic index and the corresponding technical measures are for different grades of ship lift is suggested. For the issue of pitch instability, a methodology of combining theoretical deduction and summary of achievements of design and operation of the type of the full balanced hoist shiplifts is adopted, and the formula for design about pitch stability of ship chambers is derived.

연속철근콘크리트 도로포장의 거동에 종방향 철근비가 미치는 영향 (Effect of Longitudinal Steel Ratio on Behavior of CRCP System)

  • The effect of the steel ratio on the behavior of continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) under moving wheel loads and environmental loads were investigated in this study. The CRCP sections having different steel ratios of 0.6, 0.7, and 0.8% were considered: (1) to evaluate the load transfer efficiency (LTE) at transverse cracks; (2) to investigate strains in CRCP when the system is subjected to moving vehicle loads; (3) and to investigate the time histories of the crack spacing variations. The LTEs were obtained by conducting the falling weight deflectometer (FWD) tests. The strains in the concrete slab and the bond braker layer under moving vehicle loads were obtained using embedded strain gages. The results of this study show that the LTEs at transverse cracks are very high and not affected by the steel ratio. The strains in CRCP under vehicle loads become smaller as the vehicle speed increases or as the wandering distance increases; however, the strains are not clearly affected by the steel ratio. However, the changes in the crack spacings are affected by the steel ratio.

비대칭 격자 구조형 방향성 결합기의 결합효율 (Coupling Efficiency of Asymmetric Grating-Assisted Directional Coupler)

  • 정확한 종방향 모드 전송선로 이론을 이용하여 비대칭 격자 구조형 방향성 결합기의 최대 전력전송 특성을 정확하게 분석하였다. 정확한 해석적 전송선로 수식과 대칭/비대칭 모드 사이의 간섭특성에 의존하는 결합효율을 정의하였으며, 전파 거리에 따른 TE 모드의 전력변화를 수치해석 하였다. 수치해석 결과, 비대칭 GADC에서 최대 전력전송은 전형적인 위상 정합조건 ${\Lambda}_{ph}$에서 발생하지 않았으며, 전파하는 중첩모드들의 삽입손실이 서로 같은 격자주기 ${\Lambda}_{eq}$에서 발생하였다. 더욱이, 격자의 비대칭 특성이 대칭 특성으로 변함에 따라 결합길이는 줄어들었으며, 전력전송 효율은 증가함을 보였다.

화재강도변화에 따른 횡류식 대배기구 배연량 설정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Setting Smoke Exhaust Rate According to the Transverse Ventilation with Oversized Exhaust Ports in Road Tunnel by the Variation of Fire Intensity)

  • 최근에 양방향 도로터널에서 배연효율의 증가가 요구됨에 따라 대배기에 의한 횡류식 양방향터널 배연시스템 적용이 증가되었다. 본 연구에서는 FDS Ver4.0을 사용한 수치해석을 통해 배연량과 화재강도를 변화시켜 최적배연조건을 도출하였다. 결과로, 터널 내부로 외부기류가 유입되는 경우에는 배연량을 증가시켜야 하는 것으로 나타났으며 화재지점으로 2.5m/s의 속도로 외기가 불어올 때 연기가 250m 이내로 제어되는 대배기구의 배연용량은 $244.8m^3/s$의 값으로 제어되어야 한다.

  • 종방향 모드 전송선로 이론을 이용하여 실리콘 도파로에 기초한 플라즈마 격자 구조형 방향성 결합기의 최대 전력전송 특성을 정확하게 분석하였다. 정확한 해석적 수식과 기, 우 모드 사이의 간섭특성에 의존하는 결합효율을 정의하여 전파 거리에 따른 TE 모드의 전력변화를 수치해석 하였다. 수치해석 결과, 최대 전력전송은 P-GADC에서 전파하는 중첩모드들의 삽입손실이 서로 같은 격자주기 ${\Lambda}_{eq}=10.26{\mu}m$에서 발생하였다. 즉, GADC의 전형적인 최대 전력전송 조건인 위상정합 조건이나 최소간격 조건과 다른 결과를 나타내었다.

글라이딩하는 날치의 날개형상 및 성능에 관한 연구 (Investigation of the Wing Design and Performance of a Gliding Flying Fish)

  • Various flyers in nature have attracted great interests with a recent need for developing versatile and small-size flight vehicles. In the present study, we focus on the flying fish which has been observed to glide a long distance just above a seawater surface. Since previous studies have depended on the field observation or measurement of the physical parameters only, quantitative data of the flying fish flight has not been provided so far. Therefore, we evaluate the wing performance of the flying fish in gliding flight by directly measuring the lift, drag and pitching moment on real flying fish models (Cypselurus hiraii) in a wind tunnel. In addition, we investigate the roles of wing morphology like the enlarged pectoral and pelvic fins, and lateral dihedral angle of pectoral fins. With both the pectoral and pelvic fins spread, the lift-to-drag ratio is larger and the longitudinal static stability is enhanced than those with the pelvic fins folded. From the glide polar, we find that the wing performance of flying fish is equivalent to those of medium-size birds like the petrel, hawk and wood duck. Finally, we examine the effect of water surface underneath the flying fish and find that the water surface reduces the drag and increases the lift-to-drag ratio.
