  • Suspension system is one of the most important components indespensible for stability and reliability of automobiles. The demands to more safe and durable suspension system have been increased as the automobiles get popular and improve in quality. The crack in the coil spring of the suspension system produced during manufacturing may grow under a fatigue load and cause a severe safety problems which lead to a catastrophic damage to the passengers. Many conventional NDT techniques including ET, RT, and UT are less sensitive or hard to apply to detect the surface breaking crack in the suspension coils partly because the techniques are point-to-point measurement methods, thus take too long time to inspect the coil spring longer than 1m. Contrary to this, Lamb wave technique is full-field measurement method that make it possible to examine the whole coil spring in real time. In this paper, the Lamb wave is applied to the coil spring to investigate the possibility to detect the cracks on the surface of the coil spring.

  • This paper sets out what can be said in general about pricing within transport sectors. In this paper we briefly restate the economic principles of pricing that hold for two transport sectors-road and rail. This is used as a basis for a discussion of pricing principles in the transport sector. Here we focus on the pricing of user charges of transport infrastructures. We start this paper to analyse road transport sector and compare it with rail sector. In fact as a result of the trend towards rail reform, the issue of charging mechanisms for the use of rail infrastructure has become increasingly important. In this paper, we just take the problem in theory and present some foreign cases. But our long-run objective will be the design of efficient user charges of infrastructures based on fair intermodal competition.

  • As with any crop. There are many things that need to be done to achieve success. IT must be emphasized that this is one crop that demands 100percent or more. This is a high input crop, a long tern crop, a labor intensive crop and a high return crop. However, to get the returns you cannot take shortcuts or go half way. It is essential that you do your homework before you commence this venture. This factsheet is designed to cover the basic steps involved in growing ginseng and some of the details. It does not contain all the bits and pieces of information needed. Many of these are practical, many are solved 'on the farm' and many necessary items can be purchased at the local hardware store. We suggest you do not venture into this crop until you have done your homework. At this time. we do not pretend to have all the answers and this publication serves only as a guideline. We wish you sell in this new agricultural industry in B.C.

기계가공 최적화를 위한 가이드시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on Guide System for Optimization of Machining Process)

  • The optimization in the machining process has been a long-standing goal of the manufacturing community. The optimization is composed of two main subjects;one is to select an optimum cutting condition, and the other is to detect the emergency situation and take necessary actions in real-time base. This paper proposes a reliable and practical guide system whose purpose is the optimization of cutting conditions, and the detection of tool failure in the machining process. The optimal cutting conditions are determined through the estimation of tool wear rate and the establishment of access- ible field from the measured cutting temperature and force. Tool breakage is detected by the normal force component acting on minor flank face extracted from on-line sensed feed force and radial force. In experiments, the proposed guide system has proved availability for the decision of reliable cutting conditions for the given tool-work system and the detection of tool breakage in ordinary cutting environments.

프로펠러 가공 전용 CAD/CAM 시스템 개발 (Development of a CAD/CAM System for Marine Propeller)

  • The manufacture of a marine propeller typically requires long lead time to generate 5-axis tool path. Hence it may take several weeks to manufacture a satisfactory propeller with a general purpose CAD/CAM system. In this research a dedicated 5-axis CAD/CAM system for machining marine propellers has been developed, The system employs various methods to enhance the productivity : interference-free tool path generation employing check vectors and optimum cutter size determinants. In addition an iterative NURBS modeling technique is used to improve the accuracy of the modeled surface and effective cutting conditions are determined and recommended empirically to increase the productivity. The proposed CAD/CAM system has been implemented with C++ and OpenGL graphic library on the Windows system. The system validation and sample results are also given and discussed.

Correlation among Measures of Technological Knowledge

  • In the knowledge-based economy, technological knowledge (TK) is reckoned key subject of knowledge management. Despite growing recognition, it has long been considered an intractable task to develop precise measures of TK and, as a remedy, a number of R&D-related proxy indicators have been employed. Although voluminous previous research has examined the structure and process of technological innovation by using proxy indicators, the inquiry into the relationship among respective indicators has remained unexplored. In this research, we take three most frequent proxy indicators of TK, R&D human resources, R&D stock, and patents, and investigate the correlation among respective measures. In addition, the dynamic pattern of time lag between technological input and output is also analyzed.

  • 4세대 이동통신인 LTE의 성공적인 도입과 함께 최근 유럽, 중국, 일본 등 주요국은 2020년 5세대 이동통신 상용화를 목표로 기술, 표준화, 시장 주도를 위해 경쟁적으로 연구 개발 및 투자를 본격화하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 5G 이동통신의 향후 발전 방향을 가늠해보기 위해서 현재 국내외에서 진행되고 있는 5G 이동통신시스템의 전반적인 동향과 함께 각 국가에서 설정하고 있는 시스템 요구사항에 대해서 살펴보고자 한다.

  • There are 3 systems in incentive-based normal load management in Korea; day or hour-ahead, week-ahead, months-ahead. These are originally similar in their operational implementation, but differ in their pre-notification period. Therefore the incentive of these systems should be different according to prenotification period. This is the key problem in implementing these load managements. Customers participating in these load managements feel their economic differences, depending on the risk by prenotification dates. The shorter prenotification period, the more risk take the customers. This paper proposes the method of incentive variation in prenotification difference, by using the theory of financial yield curve, which is used in analysing short and long duration bond interesting rates and is reflecting risk premium in their period.

Buckling analysis of complex structures with refined model built of frame and shell finite elements

  • In this paper we deal with stability problems of any complex structure that can be modeled by beam and shell finite elements. We use for illustration the steel plate girders, which are used in bridge construction, and in industrial halls or building construction. Long spans, slender cross sections exposed to heavy loads, are all critical design points engineers must take into account. Knowing the critical load that will cause lateral torsional buckling of the girder, or load that can lead to web buckling, as an important scenario to consider in a design process.Many of such problem, including lateral torsional buckling with influence of lateral supports and their spacing on critical load can be solved by the proposed method. An illustrative study of web buckling also includes effects of position and spacing of transverse and longitudinal web stiffeners, where stiffeners can be modelled optionally using shell or frame elements.

다공벽의 기체역학에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Gasdynamics of Perforated Wall)

  • Perforated wall has long been employed to control a variety of flow phenomena. It has been, in general, characterized by a porosity of the perforated wall. However, this porosity value does not take account of the number and detailed shape of porous holes, but is defined by only the ratio of the perforated area to total wall surface area. In order to quantify the porous wall effects on the flow control performance, an effective porosity should be known with the detailed flow properties inside the porous holes. In the present study, a theoretical analysis using a small disturbance method is performed to investigate detailed flow information through porous hole and a computational work is also carried out using the two-dimensional, compressible Navier-Stokes equations. Both the results are compared with existing experimental data. The gasdynamical porosity is defined to elucidate the effect of perforated wall.
