  • In this paper, we propose a method for restoring damaged audio files using deep neural network. It is different from the conventional file carving based restoration. The purpose of our method is to infer lost information which can not be restored by existing techniques such as the file carving. We have devised methods that can automate the tasks which are essential for the restoring but are inappropriate for humans. As a result of this study it has been shown that it is possible to restore the damaged files, which the conventional file carving method could not, by using tasks such as speech or nonspeech decision and speech encoder recognizer using a deep neural network.

  • Named entity recognition (NER) seeks to locate and classify named entities in text into pre-defined categories such as names of persons, organizations, locations, expressions of times, etc. Recently, many state-of-the-art NER systems have been implemented with bidirectional LSTM CRFs. Deep learning models based on long short-term memory (LSTM) generally depend on word representations as input. In this paper, we propose an approach to expand word representation by using pre-trained word embedding, part of speech (POS) tag embedding, syllable embedding and named entity dictionary feature vectors. Our experiments show that the proposed approach creates useful word representations as an input of bidirectional LSTM CRFs. Our final presentation shows its efficacy to be 8.05%p higher than baseline NERs with only the pre-trained word embedding vector.

  • As the usage of mobile devices extremely increases, malicious mobile apps(applications) that target mobile users are also increasing. It is challenging to detect these malicious apps using traditional malware detection techniques due to intelligence of today's attack mechanisms. Deep learning (DL) is an alternative technique of traditional signature and rule-based anomaly detection techniques and thus have actively been used in numerous recent studies on malware detection. In order to develop DL-based defense mechanisms against intelligent malicious apps, feeding recent datasets into DL models is important. In this paper, we develop a DL-based model for detecting intelligent malicious apps using KU-CISC 2018-Android, the most up-to-date dataset consisting of benign and malicious Android apps. This dataset has hardly been addressed in other studies so far. We extract OPcode sequences from the Android apps and preprocess the OPcode sequences using an N-gram model. We then feed the preprocessed data into LSTM and apply the concept of Information Gain to improve performance of detecting malicious apps. Furthermore, we evaluate our model with numerous scenarios in order to verify the model's design and performance.

  • Since the opening of the national petition site, it has attracted much attention. In this paper, we perform topic analysis of the national petition site and propose a prediction model for answerable petitions based on deep learning. First, 1,500 petitions are collected, topics are extracted based on the petitions' contents. Main subjects are defined using K-means clustering algorithm, and detailed subjects are defined using topic modeling of petitions belonging to the main subjects. Also, long short-term memory (LSTM) is used for prediction of answerable petitions. Not only title and contents but also categories, length of text, and ratio of part of speech such as noun, adjective, adverb, verb are also used for the proposed model. Our experimental results show that the type 2 model using other features such as ratio of part of speech, length of text, and categories outperforms the type 1 model without other features.

  • This paper uses variables following as : to follow me well(0-9), it takes a lot of time to make a decision (0-9), lethargy(0-9) during physical activity in the exercise learning program of the children in the marginalized class. This paper classifies 'gender', 'physical education classroom', and 'upper, middle and lower' of age, and observe changes in ego-resiliency and self-control through sports rehabilitation therapy to find out changes in mental health. To achieve this, the data acquired was merged and the characteristics of large and small numbers were removed using the Label encoder and One-hot encoding. Then, to evaluate the performance by applying each algorithm of MLP, SVM, Dicesion tree, RNN, and LSTM, the train and test data were divided by 75% and 25%, and then the algorithm was learned with train data and the accuracy of the algorithm was measured with the Test data. As a result of the measurement, LSTM was the most effective in sex, MLP and LSTM in physical education classroom, and SVM was the most effective in age.

  • In this study, we have developed a forecasting model for city- gas acceptance. City-gas corporations have to report about city-gas sale volume next year to KOGAS. So it is a important thing to them. Factors influenced city-gas have differences corresponding to usage classification, however, in city-gas acceptence, it is hard to classificate. So we have considered tha outside temperature as factor that influence regardless of usage classification and the model development was carried out. ARIMA, one of the traditional time series analysis, and LSTM, a deep running technique, were used to construct forecasting models, and various Ensemble techniques were used to minimize the disadvantages of these two methods.Experiments and validation were conducted using data from JB Corp. from 2008 to 2018 for 11 years. The average of the error rate of the daily forecast was 0.48% for Ensemble LSTM, the average of the error rate of the monthly forecast was 2.46% for Ensemble LSTM, And the absolute value of the error rate is 5.24% for Ensemble LSTM.

  • Event detection using social media has been widespread since social network services have been an active communication channel for connecting with others, diffusing news message. Especially, the real-time characteristic of social media has created the opportunity for supporting for real-time applications/systems. Social network such as Twitter is the potential data source to explore useful information by mining messages posted by the user community. This paper proposed a novel system for temporal event detection by analyzing social data. As a result, this information can be used by first responders, decision makers, or news agents to gain insight of the situation. The proposed approach takes advantages of deep learning methods that play core techniques on the main tasks including informative data identifying from a noisy environment and temporal event detection. The former is the responsibility of Convolutional Neural Network model trained from labeled Twitter data. The latter is for event detection supported by Recurrent Neural Network module. We demonstrated our approach and experimental results on the case study of earthquake situations. Our system is more adaptive than other systems used traditional methods since deep learning enables to extract the features of data without spending lots of time constructing feature by hand. This benefit makes our approach adaptive to extend to a new context of practice. Moreover, the proposed system promised to respond to acceptable delay within several minutes that will helpful mean for supporting news channel agents or belief plan in case of disaster events.

  • Turbidity has various effects on the water quality and ecosystem of a river. High turbidity during floods increases the operation cost of a drinking water supply system. Thus, the management of turbidity is essential for providing safe water to the public. There have been various efforts to estimate turbidity in river systems for proper management and early warning of high turbidity in the water supply process. Advanced data analysis technology using machine learning has been increasingly used in water quality management processes. Artificial neural networks(ANNs) is one of the first algorithms applied, where the overfitting of a model to observed data and vanishing gradient in the backpropagation process limit the wide application of ANNs in practice. In recent years, deep learning, which overcomes the limitations of ANNs, has been applied in water quality management. LSTM(Long-Short Term Memory) is one of novel deep learning algorithms that is widely used in the analysis of time series data. In this study, LSTM is used for the prediction of high turbidity(>30 NTU) in a river from the relationship of turbidity to discharge, which enables early warning of high turbidity in a drinking water supply system. The model showed 0.98, 0.99, 0.98 and 0.99 for precision, recall, F1-score and accuracy respectively, for the prediction of high turbidity in a river with 2 hour frequency data. The sensitivity of the model to the observation intervals of data is also compared with time periods of 2 hour, 8 hour, 1 day and 2 days. The model shows higher precision with shorter observation intervals, which underscores the importance of collecting high frequency data for better management of water resources in the future.

  • This study is to estimate the spatial soil moisture using Terra MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) satellite data and machine learning technique. Using the 3 years (2015~2017) data of MODIS 16 days composite NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and daily Land Surface Temperature (LST), ground measured precipitation and sunshine hour of KMA (Korea Meteorological Administration), the RDA (Rural Development Administration) 10 cm~30 cm average TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) measured soil moisture at 78 locations was tested. For daily analysis, the missing values of MODIS LST by clouds were interpolated by conditional merging method using KMA surface temperature observation data, and the 16 days NDVI was linearly interpolated to 1 day interval. By applying the RNN-LSTM (Recurrent Neural Network-Long Short Term Memory) artificial neural network model, 70% of the total period was trained and the rest 30% period was verified. The results showed that the coefficient of determination ($R^2$), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), and Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency were 0.78, 2.76%, and 0.75 respectively. In average, the clay soil moisture was estimated well comparing with the other soil types of silt, loam, and sand. This is because the clay has the intrinsic physical property for having narrow range of soil moisture variation between field capacity and wilting point.

  • In this paper, we propose an Attention-based BLSTM for predicting the video compression standard of a video. Recently, in NLP, many researches have been studied to predict the next word of sentences, classify and translate sentences by their semantics using the structure of RNN, and they were commercialized as chatbots, AI speakers and translator applications, etc. LSTM is designed to solve the gradient vanishing problem in RNN, and is used in NLP. The proposed algorithm makes video compression standard prediction possible by applying BLSTM and Attention algorithm which focuses on the most important word in a sentence to a bitstream of a video, not an sentence of a natural language.
