This paper proposes a design technique of wide-band antenna for handy phone with 700 MHz LTE(Long Term Evolution) low frequency bandwidth. The proposed antenna based on the PIFA(Planar Inverted-F type Antenna) structure was designed and considered. In order to realize the wide bandwidth, a round structure which is able to control the electric path length of current and a branch line element which can be obtain the dual resonance characteristics were introduced in this design. As a result, It was realized about 95 MHz bandwidth in spite of very small space of $30{\times}34mm$ used for FR-4 substrate with relative permitivity of 4.4 at 700 MHz band. Measurement results of return loss, bandwidth and gain radiation pattern were agreed well with their calculation results.
Wireless mesh networks for public safety and disaster have been developing in a direction from TETRA(TErrestrial Trunked RAdio) to take advantage of the Public Safety-LTE(Long Term Evolution) technology. In Korea, the Disaster Safety Network Building Project has been promoted in order to unify disaster communication systems among disaster response agencies. In this study, the trends of the network construction for national disaster communication and corresponding representative cases of overseas have been analyzed. Through this process, the disaster communication area in line with the purpose of communications. As a result, the disaster communication can be divided into five distinctive areas: the control, the response, the on-site, the victim and the alarm communications. Based on the re-designed communication areas, quality requirements have also been re-organized in this study. Ultimately the construction method for the Disaster Communication systems without exclusion zone will be presented.

In this paper, we propose an iterative self-interference (SI) channel estimation method for in-band full-duplex cellular systems that employ orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) on downlink (DL) and single-carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) on uplink (UL), as in Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems. The proposed method first acquires coarse estimates of SI channels using DL signals and UL pilots, which are known to the base stations, and then refines the estimates by consecutively exploiting averaging in the frequency domain and channel truncation in the time domain. In addition, the method enhances the estimates further by iteratively executing this estimation procedure, and does not require any radio resources dedicated to SI channel estimation. Simulation results demonstrate that by significantly improving the SI channel estimation performance without requiring exact knowledge of the SI channel length, the proposed method achieves UL channel estimation performance and signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) performance very close to those in perfect SI cancellation.

Vehicle to Everything (V2X) communication has been growing to enhance traffic safety by employing advanced wireless communication systems. V2X communication is one core solution for governing and advancing future traffic safety and mobility. In this paper, we design the system level simulator (SLS) of Long Term Evolution (LTE)-based V2X and propose the adaptive transmission scheme for vehicle communication. The proposed scheme allocates the resource randomly in time and frequency domain, and transmit the message according to probability of transmission. The performance analysis is based on freeway case in periodic message transmission. Simulation results show that proposed scheme can improve the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of packet reception ratio (PRR) and average PRR.

Due to the recent development of mobile wireless telecommunication, RRHs(Remote Radio Heads) are widely being utilized to expand the cell coverage. Wire-link, an existing connection between DU(Digital Unit) and RRH through fiber cables, is considered to have limitations in relation to cost for a wide range of applications. This paper focuses on replacing the wire-link by wireless transmission using millimeter-wave, and implementing cellular network system through RRH from a remote location. After an influence element analysis on millimeter-wave wireless link transmissions, a comparative analysis between wireless link and an existing fiber link method will be made by utilizing currently commercialized LTE(Long Term Evolution), to prove the compatibility of millimeter-wave wireless link RRH method in replacing fiber link method without a significant decline in data transmission performance.

In this paper, we propose a method to improve cell edge users' performance in HetNet (heterogeneous network) systems by cooperatively transmitting signals using remote radio heads (RRHs) located near coverage boundaries, referred to as edge RRHs. The proposed method locates the edge RRHs in specific locations of the cell boundary and provides an efficient operational strategy by adjusting the duty cycle of the edge RRHs and base stations. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated by experimental performance based on the system model parameters of the CoMP (coordinated multi-point transmission and reception) scenario, which is discussed in LTE-Advanced (Long Term Evolution - Advanced) standard contributions. When compared with conventional methods, utilization of edge RRHs is especially advantageous for the performance improvement of lower percentile users in terms of average throughput and effectively improves the fairness among users.

This study proposes a rad o resource management scheme to maximize the performance of the LTE(Long Term Evolution) uplink, using SC-FDMA(Single Carrier-Frequency Division Multiple Access). Rather than the single-cell SC-FDMA system the existing studies are mainly concerning, this study focuses on multi-cell system which needs considering the interaction among cells. Radio resource management is divided into two phases, planning and operation phases. The former is for the master eNB(e-NodeB) to allocate RBs(radio bearer) to eNB, the latter for eNB to assign RBs to the mobiles in the cell. For each phase, an optimization model and greedy algorithm are proposed. Optimization models aim to maximize the system performance while satisfying the constraints for both QoS and RB continuity. The greedy algorithms, like generic ones, move from a solution to a neighboring one having the best objective value among neighboring ones. From the numerous numerical experiments, the performance and characteristics of the algorithms are analyzed. This study is expected to play a volunteering role in radio resource management for the multi-cell SC-FDMA system.

While Long Term Evolution-Frequency Division Duplexing (LTE-FDD) is regarded as one of the strong candidates for "4G" wireless broadband access in FDD field, LTE-Time Division Duplexing (TDD) is emerging as one possible migration path for WiMAX-TDD in some cases as well as the migration path for Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA). In this paper, we analyze the feasibility of dual mode with LTE-TDD in two combinations: dual mode LTE-FDD/TDD and dual mode Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX)-TDD/LTE-TDD. Thanks to the commonality in numerology, terminology, and frame structure between LTE-FDD and LTE-TDD, dual mode LTE-FDD/TDD looks feasible in a cost-effective manner. Thanks to the commonality in scheduling algorithm, control mechanism, and supported spectrum bands, it is shown that dual mode WiMAX-TDD/LTE-TDD looks feasible as well. It should be also noted that the commonality in numerology and frame structure is critical for building a chip while the commonality in algorithms and control mechanisms is critical to make it work.
This paper investigates the multifarious nature of the long-term evolution (LTE) scheme and that of the modified LTE scheme for symbol timing synchronization (STS). This investigation allows us to propose a new replica correlation-based STS scheme to overcome the inherent weaknesses of the other two schemes. The proposed STS signal combines a gold sequence and a half sine wave in the time domain, whereas conventional STS signals specify either binary sequences or complex sequences in the time domain or in the frequency domain. In the proposed scheme, a sufficient correlation property is realized by the gold sequence, and robustness against the frequency offset (FO) is achieved through the sine wave. Compared to the existing LTE-related schemes, the proposed scheme can better achieve immunity to FO and reduction in detector complexity, as well as a low peak-to-average power ratio and a low detection error rate. Performance evaluations through analysis and simulation are provided in the paper to demonstrate these attributes.
