  • Recent demands of market forces are causing considerable attention to be forced on logistics functions and revitalizing interest in outsourcing them. The need to efficiently and economically adjust support to meet market demands is growing significantly. Logistics is playing a role it has never played before. In light of this, outsourcing to third parties has become a strategic issue demanding greater attention in corporate boardrooms. From the perspective of TPL users, this paper focuses on how best to make a strategic plan for the effective utilization of TPL. And the results are as follows : First, after deciding their logistics outsourcing, the companies have to set up the aim of TPL through development of logistical strategies. Second, the companies must decide service provider that fits to their business environment and conditions. Third, they have to conclude a contract with logistics service provider. Fourth, after doing the preparatory implementation they carry into effect the original implementation. Fifth, they use the result of original implementation to fix a partnership.

Improving Logistics Services of LSP to Minimize Logistics Outsourcing Risks in the Ceramic Industry

  • Purpose: In the last few decades, the ceramic industry has become an important industry for Indonesia. The resulting product must be handled properly, because if material & product handling is not carried out properly it will impact on the quality of product. Based on the logistics outsourcing research gaps in the ceramics industry to logistics service provider (LSP), this study aims to analyze the logistics service improvement of LSP in accordance with the needs of the ceramic industry to minimize logistics outsourcing risks. Research design, data and methodology: In the field study, observations, interviews and surveys related to production and logistics activities in the ceramic industry & LSP were carried out. The next step is to analyze logistics service of LSP needed by the ceramic industry. Results: The final findings obtained from this research are the LSP need to improve 1) knowledge; 2) technology capability; 3) relationships; 4) service quality; 5) innovation; 6) commitment in services. Conclusion: In order to reduce logistics outsourcing risks in the ceramic industry, LSP in Indonesia need to improve the logistics services required by the ceramic industry with a focus on six areas of improvement.

종합물류기업의 경쟁력 분석 (Efficiency Analysis of Total Logistics Provider)

  • 현재의 물류산업은 인수 합병을 통한 거대기업이 출현하고 있으며 세계물류시장은 계속 경쟁적으로 진행되고 있다. 글로벌물류기업은 세계 각지역에 생산에서 폐기까지 물류관리를 효율적으로 진행하기 위하여 종합적인 물류서비스를 수행한다. 종합물류기업으로 성장하기 위해서는 종합물류기업의 솔루션을 효과적으로 제시할 수 있는 전문적 물류지식과 정보기술을 가지고 있다. 정부는 글로벌 경쟁력 있는 물류기업이 육성을 위하여 수직 수평적으로 통합하였다 정부가 동북아 물류시장의 중심지화 전략을 추구하기 위하여 종합물류기업 인증제도를 시행한지 6년이 경과 되었다. 본 연구는 CCR 모형과 BCC 모형을 이용하여 대형종합물류기업 9개에 관하여 효율성을 비교 분석하였다. 우리나라는 현재31개 종합물류기업 가운데 9개 기업은 단독으로 종합물류기업으로 인증을 받고 있다. 효율성이 100%로 나타난 가장 효율적인 종합물류기업은 글로비스이며 2005-2010년에 6년동안 계속적으로 가장 효율성이 높았다. 글로비스는 2010년에 현재의 투입요소의 조합을 최소 6배 이상 늘려도 100%의 효율성을 유지할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Investigating the Determinants of Major IT Incident Tickets: A Case Study of an IT Service Provider Firm for Logistics and Distribution Industry

  • Purpose - This study investigates the determinants that affect the number of IT Incident tickets of an IT Service Provider ("ITSP") to logistics industry in order to improve its management process by reducing the incident tickets. Research design, data, and Methodology - This study uses weekly data of IT incident tickets from September 2012 to June 2015. Correlation and regression analyses are conducted. Six identified determinants i.e., IT Change, User Errors, Shipment Volume, Network, Hardware and Software Issues are used as the explanatory variables. Results - Our findings show as following. First, our analysis indicates that IT Change is not a significant determinant as opposed to what commonly believed by many as the most important factor. Second, Software issue is the highest contributor to the Major IT incident tickets, followed by User Error, Network and Hardware issues. Third, it seems there is lead-lag relationship between IT Change and Major IT Incidents tickets as indicated by earlier studies. Fourth, the relationship between IT Change and Major IT tickets is also affected by shipment volume. Conclusions - As policy recommendation, all identified determinants should be treated according to priority. In addition, improving the way IT Changes are implemented will definitely reduce the IT incident tickets.

제3자 물류업체를 위한 물류 정보시스템 구축방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Establishment of the Logistics Information System for Third Party Logistics)

  • With the increasing recognition of logistics as a source of potential competitive advantage by companies, there has been a rapid growth in the logistics service industry. In particular increased globalization by multinational corporations has prompted consideration of outsourcing logistics service to third party logistics firms. This paper aims to seek the way to establish logistics information system by the case study of company 'D'. The G-Project, aiming to establish global supply chain including information network was required to form integrated logistics information system between manufacturer and logistics provider. The results should have considerable value to both global manufacturers and logistics providers.

Business and Logistics Strategies of Global Logistics Firms Responding to the Changing Logistics Environment in China

  • Ninety percent of an average Chinese manufacturer's time spent is on logistics. Therefore, logistics presents the greatest challenge for multinational companies conducting businesses in China. Although more than 18,000 registered logistics companies exist in China, 85 percent of their revenues are generated from basic trucking and storage services. These facts indicate that China will need increasing presence of high-quality foreign 3PL providers, who are able to provide sophisticated IT systems, industry/operational expertise, standardized operating processes, and international networks, compared to their Chinese counterparts. However, they are facing complicated array of laws and regulations as well as difficulty of finding qualified people to fulfill these needs. There are a number of foreign 3PL providers engaged in China's logistics sector to reap a huge opportunity. Nevertheless, many 3PL foreign providers are still cautious about making large investments. Thus they arelooking for alliances that can provide complementarities instead. Another salient feature of strategy is to take over the transportation assets and warehousing of major Chinese manufacturers and distributors.

물류서비스제공자(3PL)와 이용자간의 물류서비스 품질 인식의 차이 연구 (A Study on Third Party Logistics Services: User versus Provider Perspectives)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 기존의 연구와 달리 실증분석을 통해 3PL서비스 품질에 대한 서비스제공자와 이용자 사이의 인식차이를 연구하는데 있다. 조사결과 3PL 서비스 품질을 구성하는 신뢰성, 효율성, 유형성, 반응성, 적시성의 5개 요소가 확인되었다. 아울러 이들 5개 요소에 대하여 3PL업체와 고객 사이에 중요도와 만족도 면에서 모두 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 특히 중요도의 인지적 차이는 효율성에 대해 가장 크게 나타났다. 적시성에 대해서는 서비스제공자, 화주 모두 그 중요성을 가장 크게 인지하였다. 한편 만족도에 대한 인지적 차이는 반응성에 대해 가장 그 차이가 크게 나타났다. 아울러 화주의 만족도가 반응성, 효율성 면에서 특히 떨어짐이 주목된다. 이러한 인식의 차이들을 줄임으로써 고객만족을 향상시키는 것이 3PL 서비스 제공자의 전략적 과제일 수밖에 없다.

A Study on Change of Logistics Environment in Northeast Asia and Logistics Hub Strategy of China

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to find out how shipping company recognizes making partnership with the third party logistics provider and to give implication. Research design, data and methodology - Personal interview and questionnaire by E-mail, Fax, Mail, and telephone were used. 700 copies of the questionnaires were distributed and 155 copied were returned. Among collected questionnaires, 20 copies were excluded because of insufficient content, and therefore 135 copies were used. Results - Korea should change into new paradigm from old one based on current economic and social systems which has stemmed from bureaucracy, inflexibility chauvinism and equalitarianism. Flexible policies, administration and systems will be needed for better business practices. The Domestic logistics corporation needs to preoccupy strategic logistics hub and network. Conclusions - To be a center of North East Logistics, Korea needs more reasonable business law, systems and policies. Social norms and orders should be established to accomplish political and social security. A paradigm of the policy ruling over development of capital city and satellite cities shall make change.

화주기업과 물류기업의 물류계약 인식차이에 관한 연구 (Perceptional Difference of Logistics Service Contract between Shipper and Logistics Service Provider)

  • 글로벌 경쟁에서 화주기업은 자사의 물류 관련 투자를 줄이고, 핵심역량 집중을 통하여 고객 서비스 향상은 물론 자사 경쟁력을 높이기 수 있는 기대를 하게 되고, 물류기업은 화주기업의 만족과 성과 향상을 위하여 차별화된 물류 서비스 제공을 하기 위해 물류아웃소싱을 하여 물류서비스를 개선하려는 기업들이 점점 증가하고 있다. 하지만 거래의 불확실과 변화를 대비하기 위한 물류계약에 대한 불공평한 인식이 존재하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 연구자의 선행연구에서 도출된 물류성과에 영향을 미치는 물류계약 조항에 대해 물류기업과 화주기업을 대상으로 동일한 설문을 구성하여 현재 물류계약서에 반영되고 있는 수준과 향후 반영되어지길 원하는 수준을 조사하였다. 두 개의 집단의 차이를 확인하기 위해 가설을 세우고, t-test와 IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis)를 실시하였으며, 연구결과 첫째, 현재수준의 물류계약서에 대하여 물류기업과 화주기업 간에는 인식의 차이가 확연하게 나타났으며, 둘째, 향후 물류계약서 요구수준 역시 물류 기업과 화주기업 간의 인식차이가 있음이 밝혀졌다. 그리고 물류기업의 현재수준과 요구수준 및 화주기업의 현재수준과 요구수준에 있어서도 차이를 보였으며, 본 연구의 결과는 물류기업과 화주기업의 물류계약서 조항의 인식에 대한 차이를 명확하게 제시하고 당사자 간 물류성과 향상을 위한 유용한 정보가 될 것이라고 사료된다.

  • With the change of various business environments, needs for the third party logistics(3PL) service are strategically considered for securing core competitiveness of manufacturers in China. Thus, manufacturers not only have worked with 3PL service providers for cutting costs of logistics, but also they are willing to have Win-Win relationship with the 3PL service provider. In this paper, comparing situation and characteristics of both China and developed-countries, especially in the particularity of manufacturing companies in China. The most important thing is that 3PL service providers must be able to manage supply chain of manufacturers with logistic planning abilities and to operate logistics services with logistic infrastructures and IT systems. In the view of long-term development, incubating logistics specialists is also the influencing fact that makes 3PL service providers more competitive with high quality logistics service and infrastructures.
