The inferences of data obtained from periodic inspection and type I censoring for the three step stress accelerated life test are studied in this paper. The failure rate function that a log-quadratic relation of stress and the tampered failure rate model are considered under the exponential distribution. The optimal stress change times which minimize the asymptotic variance of maximum likelihood estimators of parameters is determined and the maximum likelihood estimators of the model parameters are estimated. A numerical example will be given to illustrate the proposed inferential procedures.

In this paper, we propose improved maximum access delay time, noise variance, and power delay profile (PDP) estimation schemes for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system in multipath fading channels. To this end, we adopt the approximate maximum likelihood (ML) estimation strategy. For the first step, the log-likelihood function (LLF) of the received OFDM symbols is derived by utilizing only the cyclic redundancy induced by cyclic prefix (CP) without additional information. Then, the set of the initial path powers is sub-optimally obtained to maximize the derived LLF. In the second step, we can select a subset of the initial path power set, i.e. the maximum access delay time, so as to maximize the modified LLF. Through numerical simulations, the benefit of the proposed method is verified by comparison with the existing methods in terms of normalized mean square error, erroneous detection, and good detection probabilities.
Accelerated failure time (AFT) model represents a linear relationship between the log-survival time and covariates. We are interested in the inference of covariate's effect affecting the variation of survival times in the AFT model. Thus, we need to model the variance as well as the mean of survival times. We call the resulting model mean and variance AFT (MV-AFT) model. In this paper, we propose a variable selection procedure of regression parameters of mean and variance in MV-AFT model using penalized likelihood function. For the variable selection, we study four penalty functions, i.e. least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO), adaptive lasso (ALASSO), smoothly clipped absolute deviation (SCAD) and hierarchical likelihood (HL). With this procedure we can select important covariates and estimate the regression parameters at the same time. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated using simulation studies. The proposed method is illustrated with a clinical example dataset.
In the process of crossbreeding, the linkage disequilibria between the quantitative trait loci (QTL) and their linked markers were reduced gradually with increasing generations. To study the potential of QTL mapping using the crossbred population, we presented a mixed effect model that treated the mean allelic value of the different founder populations as the fixed effect and the allelic deviation from the population mean as random effect. It was assumed that there were fifty QTLs having effect on the trait variation, the population mean and variance were divided to each QTL in founder generation in our model. Only the additive effect was considered in this model for simulation. Six schemes (S1-S6) of crossbreeding were studied. The selection index was used to evaluate the synthetic breeding value of two traits of the individual in the scheme of S2, S4 and S6, and the individuals with high selection index were chosen as the parents of the next generation. Random selection was used in the scheme of S1, S3 and S5. In this study, we premised a QTL explained 40% of the genetic variance was located in a region of 20 cM by the linkage analysis previously. The log likelihood ratio (log LR) was calculated to determine the presence of a QTL at the particular chromosomal position in each of the generations from the fourth to twentieth. The profiles of log LR and the number of the highest log LR located in the region of 5, 10 and 20 cM were compared between different generations and schemes. The profiles and the correct number reduced gradually with the generations increasing in the schemes of S2, S4 and S6, but both of them increased in the schemes of S1, S3 and S5. From the results, we concluded that the crossbreeding population undergoing random selection was suitable for improving the resolution of QTL mapping. Even experiencing index selection, there was still enough variation existing within the crossbred population before the fourteenth generation that could be used to refine the location of QTL in the chromosome region.
This study was performed to evaluate the bioequivalency between the Osmetone$^{TM}$ Tablet (Myeongmoon Pharm. Co., Ltd.) as a test formulation and the Relafen$^{TM}$ Tablet (Handok Pharm. Co., Ltd.) as a reference formulation. Twenty-four healthy male volunteers were administered the formulations by the randomized Latin square crossover design, and the plasma samples were determined by a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with Ultra-Violet (UV) detector. AUC$_t$, C$_{max}$ and T$_{max}$ were obtained from the time-plasma concentration curves, and log-transformed AUC$_t$ and C$_{max}$ and log-untransformed T$_{max}$ values for two formulations were compared by statistical tests and analysis of variation. AUC$_t$ was determined to be 897.8${\pm}$431.1 ug.hr/ml for the reference formulation and 902.3${\pm}$408.4 ug.hr/ml for the test formulation. The mean values of C$_{max}$ for the reference and test formulations were 24.2${\pm}$8.9 and 24.0${\pm}$9.5 ug/ml, respectively. The AUC$_t$ and C$_{max}$ ratios of the reference Relafen$^{TM}$ Tablet to the test Osmetone$^{TM}$ Tablet were +5.01% and -0.83%, respectively, showing that the mean differences were satisfied the acceptance criteria within 20%. The results from analysis of variance for logtransformed AUC$_t$ and C$_{max}$ indicated that sequence effects between groups were not exerted and 90% confidence limits of the mean differences for AUC$_t$ and C$_{max}$ were located in ranges from log 0.80 to log 1.25, satisfying the acceptance criteria of the KFDA bioequivalence. The Osmetone$^{TM}$ Tablet as the test formulation was considered to be bioequivalant to the Relafen$^{TM}$ Tablet used as its reference formulation, based on AUC$_t$ and C$_{max}$ values.
In this paper, the image segmentation method based on the hierarchical pyramid image structure of reduced resolution versions of the image for solving the problems in the conventional methods is presented. This method is described the object detection and delineation by statistical approach. In the object detection method, IFSVR( Inverse-father-son variance ratio) method and FSVR(father-son variance ratio ) method are proposed for solving clustering validity problem occurred In the hierarchical pyramid image structure. An optimal object pixel Is detected at some level by this method. In the object delineation method, the iterative algorithm by top-down traversing method is proposed for moving the optimal object pixel to levels of higher resolution. Using the computer simulation, the results by the proposed statistical methods and object traversing method are investigated for the binary Image and the real image. At the results of computer simulation, the proposed methods of image segmentation based on the hierarchical pyramid Image structure seem to have useful properties and deserve consideration as a possible alternative to existing methods of image segmentation. The computation for the proposed method is required 0(log n) for n${\times}$n input image.

In this paper we proposed FSFN (Filter bank sub-band energy subtraction based CLSFN) method to improve the recognition performance of the existing CLSFN (Cepstral distance and Log-energy based Silence Feature Normalization). The proposed FSFN reduces the energy of noise components in filter bank sub-band domain when extracting the features from speech data. This leads to extract the enhanced cepstral features and thus improves the accuracy of speech/silence classification using the enhanced cepstral features. Therefore, it can be expected to get improved performance comparing with the existing CLSFN. Experimental results conducted on Aurora 2.0 DB showed that our proposed FSFN method improves the averaged word accuracy of 2% comparing with the conventional CLSFN method, and FSFN combined with CMVN (Cepstral Mean and Variance Normalization) also showed the best recognition performance comparing with others.
In the existing ship sales market, prices determined based on the prices of similar ship types that recently traded. ince the 2008 financial crisis, ship prices have fluctuated, and ship price criteria have become ever more necessary to the imminent value of the ship. Therefore, this research used the hedonic price model to estimate imminent values of ships. In this study, the influence on ship prices was analyzed by the value of each characteristic and an estimated functional formula was. Out of the four models suggested by the hedonic price model, an optimal model was selected with variance inflation factors and a stepwise selection. For this, the influence of determinants of ship prices was analyzed based on actually traded ships and characteristic data. The selected model s the Log-Line model; as a result of regression analysis, eight variables, including DWT, Age, Market Value, Short-Term Charter, Long-Term Charter, Enbloc, Special Survey Due and Builder were to affect the ship price model. This model is expected to be useful for objective and balanced ship price evaluation.
The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two zolpidem tartrate tablets, Stilnox tablet(Sanofi-aventis Korea, reference product) and Zanilo tablet(ChoDang Pharm Co., Ltd., Korea, test product), according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration(KFDA). After adding an internal standard(cimetropium), 250 ${\mu}L$ plasma samples were extracted using 1.3 mL of ethyl acetate. Extracted compounds were analyzed by HPLC with triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry. This method for determination of zolpidem is proved accurate and reproducible with the limit of quantitation of 1 ng/mL in human plasma. Twenty-four healthy male Korean volunteers received each medicine at the zolpidem tartrate dose of 10 mg in a $2{\times}2$ crossover study. There was one-week washout period between the doses. Plasma concentrations of zolpidem were monitored for over a period of 8 hr after the administration. $AUC_{0-t}$(the area under the plasma concentration-time curve) was calculated by the linear trapezoidal rule. $C_{max}$(maximum plasma drug concentration) and $T_{max}$(time to reach $C_{max}$) were compiled from the plasma concentration-time data. Analysis of variance was carried out using logarithmically transformed $AUC_{0-t}$ and $C_{max}$. No significant sequence effect was found for all of the bio-availability parameters indicating that the crossover design was properly performed. The 90% confidence intervals for the log transformed data were acceptable range of log 0.8 to log 1.25(e.g., log 0.92-log 1.06 for $AUC_{0-t}$, log 0.96-log 1.13 for $C_{max}$). The major parameters, $AUC_{0-t}$ and $C_{max}$ met the criteria of KFDA for bioequivalence indicating that Zanilo tablet is bioequivalent to Stilnox tablet.
Pinass densiflora natural forests of four local forms in Korea were studies to investigate effective biomass estimation method. Dimension analysis was used and three allometric regression models, such as logWt=A+BlogD, logWt=$A+B1ogD^2H$ and 1ogWt=A+BlogD+ClogH were applied to estimate biomass, The most accurate estimation was made by the regression model of logWt=A+BlogD+ClogH where Wt is dry weight, D is diameter at breast height, and H is tree height. However, dry weights of cones and dead branches were remotely related to tree size factor, such as D and H. In the interest of practical use. generalized allometric regressions for all samples trees of four stands were computed and analysis of covariance was used to compare the allometric regressions among the four stands. Based on the test criteria applied in this study, significant differences were found in terms of error variance and regression intercept, not in terms of regression slope. These trends suggest a generalized biomass regression is not valid for accurate estimation over a range of four local form stands.
