  • This paper proposes an efficient code acquisition scheme for direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) based real-time locating systems (RTLS). The proposed scheme employs multiple bit integration to significantly decrease false alarms when no packet signal is transmitted and increase the detection probability when the RTLS tags are excited. The performance of the proposed code acquisition scheme is analyzed and numerically evaluated, and compared with those of single-dwell and traditional double-dwell code acquisition schemes. The simulation results show that the proposed multiple-bit integration scheme outperforms single-dwell and double-dwell schemes.

  • In this paper, the improved fault locating method using distributed parameter which calculating the reduced voltage and current according to the ground capacitance in long transmission line was proposed. For the purpose of the fault locating algorithm non influenced source impedance, the loop method was used in the system modeling analysis. To enhance the fault locating, zero sequence of the fault current which is variable according to ground capacitance was not used but positive and negative sequence. System model was simulated using EMTP software. To verify the accuracy of proposed method, in different cases 64 sampled data per cycle was used and 160km and 300km long transmission line has fault resistance $0{\Omega}\;and\;100{\Omega}$ respectively was compared.

  • The passive direction finding cross localization method is widely adopted in passive tracking, therefore there will exist masses of false intersection points. Eliminating these false intersection points correctly and quickly is a key technique in passive localization. A new method is proposed for passive locating and tracking multi-jammer target in this paper. It not only solves the difficulty of determining the number of targets when masses of false intersection points existing, but also solves the initialization problem of elastic network. Thus this method solves the problem of multi-jammer target correlation and the elimination of static false intersection points. The method which dynamically establishes multiple hypothesis trajectory trees solves the problem of eliminating the remaining false intersection points. Simulation results show that computational burden of the method is lower, the elastic network can more quickly find all or most of the targets and have a more probability of locking the real targets. This method can eliminate more false intersection points.

  • The hydraulic cylinder is used for actuating the roller-link type rotating floodgate which controls the volume of water in the reservoir. The locating points of hydraulic cylinder are restricted to the limited space and determined to minimize the cylinder force necessary for actuating the floodgate. Generally, the head end point of cylinder is fixed at underground and the rod end point of cylinder is connected to the support link. Therefore there exist three design variables to be determined to minimize the cylinder force within the rotating range of floodgate. First, the mathematical model of the roller-link type rotating floodgate is derived to find the cylinder force corresponding to the floodgate angle. Then, the optimal locating point of hydraulic cylinder is searched using the complex method that is one kind of constrained direct search method.

The locating points of hydraulic cylinder are restricted to limited space and determined to minimize the cylinder force necessary for actuating the sluice gate. Generally, the head end point of cylinder is fixed at underground and the rod end point of cylinder is connected to the gate plate when it is fully opened. Therefore there exist three parameters to be determined to minimize the cylinder force in the operation range of sluice gate. The optimal locating points of hydraulic cylinder are obtained using the complex method that is one kind of constrained direct search m method.

  • Steganography is a current hot research topic in the area of information security and privacy protection. However, most previous steganography methods are not effective against steganalysis and attacks because they are usually carried out by modifying covers. In this paper, we propose an improved coverless text steganography algorithm based on pretreatment and Part of Speech (POS), in which, Chinese character components are used as the locating marks, then the POS is used to hide the number of keywords, the retrieval of stego-texts is optimized by pretreatment finally. The experiment is verified that our algorithm performs well in terms of embedding capacity, the embedding success rate, and extracting accuracy, with appropriate lengths of locating marks and the large scale of the text database.

  • The construction industry has witnessed an exponential growth of drones used in the field over the past few years. Likewise, the field of maintenance has paid increasing attention to using drones with a view to improving the efficiency of condition checks in high-rise buildings and major space. Although operators manipulate drones to inspect buildings at present, drones are expected to autonomously move around without operators in a few years. Also, for indoor maintenance, it is important for drones to find accurate locations, which is implemented by real-time locating systems(RTLS). Yet, the accuracy of RTLS varies across the types of systems and indoor settings, which warrants a locating system suitable for indoor space and a location correction system designed to improve the accuracy. Hence, the current study investigated the accuracy of real-time locating systems(RTLS) for the maintenance of indoor space of buildings with drones and delved into the methods of correcting the location information to improve the accuracy of RTLS.

  • Recently, as the size of construction projects are getting bigger and higher, more effective managing methods are required in management areas such as duration reduction, cost reduction and quality management. In the current construction industry, conjunction with IT(Information Technology) is being noticed as a solution to support these needs. Various IT solutions such as Bar Code, Personal digital assistant(PDA), global positioning system(GPS), radio frequency identification(RFID) are being developed. In this research, among the various IT solutions, the Real Time Locating System(RTLS) which is acknowledged as a technology with high applicational potential is analyzed. Based on this analysis, a locating system to apply in construction sites is developed and validated. The locating system is developed to prevent construction disasters through real-time management of workers and equipment, which enables effective application in the area of construction safety management. Moreover, applications of the locating system in many different areas like construction material realtime monitoring, construction automation, construction quality management, maintenance management are expected.

  • Traditionally, the track circuits have been used for the purpose of train locating. However, the recent train control systems like a CBTC(Communications Based Train Control) do not utilize the track circuits to minimize the amount of ground signal devices. Therefore, there are increasing concerns over the system that can locate the position of train exactly without using the track circuits. Then, the contactless locating methods are added to ensure safety when the shunting sensitivity of the track circuit becomes low for the existing sections equipped with the track circuits. In this paper, a prototype of train locating device has been designed and tested, which utilizes the current phase difference upon magnetic field variation. The results show improved features of this method over the conventional track circuits method.
