Study on Mobile Robot's Navigation Problem Using Jacobian and Fuzzy Inference System (자코비안과 퍼지 추론 시스템을 이용한 이동로봇의 주행문제에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose the topological map building method about unknown environment using the ultrasonic sensors. An ultrasonic sensor inherently has the range error due to the specular reflection. To decrease this error, we estimate the obstacle states(position and velocity) using the local minimum sensor values and Jacobian. Estimated states are used to avoid the obstacles and build the topological map similar to the type that human being memorizes an environment. When a mobile robot is faced with three problems(comer way, cross way and dead end), it senses the movable directions using FIS(Fuzzy Inference System). Among these directions, it can select the target direction using binary decision tree(Turn Side Selector). Proposed algorithm has been verified with three simulations and three implementations.

  • The problem of recursive filtering far linear discrete-time systems with uncertainties is considered. A new suboptimal filtering algorithm is herein proposed. It is based on the fusion formula, which represents an optimal mean-square linear combination of local Kalman estimates with weights depending on cross-covariances between local filtering errors. In contrast to the optimal weights, the suboptimal weights do not depend on current measurements, and thus the proposed algorithm can easily be implemented in real-time. High accuracy and efficiency of the suboptimal filtering algorithm are demonstrated on the following examples: damper harmonic oscillator motion and vehicle motion constrained to a plane.

  • In this paper, a face detection method for interactive TV control system using a new feature, edge histogram feature, with a support vector machine(SVM) in the near-infrared(NIR) images is proposed. The edge histogram feature is extracted using 16-directional edge intensity and a histogram. Compared to the previous method using local binary pattern(LBP) feature, the proposed method using edge histogram feature has better performance in both smaller feature size and lower equal error rate(EER) for face detection experiments in NIR databases.

  • This paper presents the lateral control of an autonomous vehicle by using a look-ahead sensing system. In look-ahead sensing by an absolute positioning system, a reference lane, constructed by straight lanes or circular lanes, was switched by a segment switching algorithm. To cope with sensor noise and modeling uncertainty, a robust LMI-based $H_{\infty}$ lateral controller was designed by the feedback of lateral offset and yaw angle error at the vehicle look-ahead. In order to verify the safety and the performance of lateral control, a scaled-down vehicle was developed and the location of the vehicle was detected by using an ultrasonic local positioning system. In the mechatronic scaled-down vehicle, the lateral model and parameters are verified and estimated by a J-turn test. For the lane change and reference lane tracking, the lateral controllers are used experimentally. The experimental results show that the $H_{\infty}$ controller is robust and has better performance compared with look-down sensing.

Improved BP-NN Controller of PMSM for Speed Regulation

  • We have studied the speed regulation of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) servo system in this paper. To optimize the PMSM servo system's speed-control performance with disturbances, a non-linear speed-control technique using a back-propagation neural network (BP-NN) algorithm forthe controller design of the PMSM speed loop is introduced. To solve the slow convergence speed and easy to fall into the local minimum problem of BP-NN, we develope an improved BP-NN control algorithm by limiting the range of neural network outputs of the proportional coefficient Kp, integral coefficient Ki of the controller, and add adaptive gain factor β, that is the internal gain correction ratio. Compared with the conventional PI control method, our improved BP-NN control algorithm makes the settling time faster without static error, overshoot or oscillation. Simulation comparisons have been made for our improved BP-NN control method and the conventional PI control method to verify the proposed method's effectiveness.

  • This paper makes a close inquiry into ill-conditioning that may be occurred in wireless localization of the sensor nodes based on network signals in the wireless sensor network and provides the clue for solving the problem. In order to estimate the location of a node based on the range information calculated using the signal propagation time, LS (Least Squares) method is usually used. The LS method estimates the solution that makes the squared estimation error minimal. When a nonlinear function is used for the wireless localization, ILS (Iterative Least Squares) method is used. The ILS method process the LS method iteratively after linearizing the nonlinear function at the initial nominal point. This method, however, has a problem that the final solution may converge into a LM (Local Minimum) instead of a GM (Global Minimum) according to the deployment of the fixed nodes and the initial nominal point. The conditions that cause the problem are explained and an adaptive method is presented to solve it, in this paper. It can be expected that the stable location solution can be provided in implementation of the wireless localization methods based on the results of this paper.

  • This study proposes the control strategy for the seamless mode transfer of indirect current controlled parallel grid-connected inverters. Under the abnormal grid condition, the grid-connected inverter can convert the operation mode from grid-connected to stand-alone mode to supply power to the local load. For a seamless mode transfer, the time delay problems caused by the accumulated control variable error must be solved, and the indirect current control method has been applied as one of the solutions. In this study, the design of control parameters for the proportional-resonant-based triple-loop indirect current controller and the control strategy for the seamless mode transfer of parallel grid-connected inverters are described and analyzed. The validity of the proposed mode transfer method is verified by the PSiM simulation results.

Nonlinear control of unicycle-type mobile robot (Unicycle-type 이동로봇의 비선형 제어)

  • This paper proposes a stable control rule for nonlinear unicycle-type mobile robot. The control method uses a local error coordinate system, velocity and distance constants $\kappa$$\_$x/, $\kappa$$\_$y/, and he. Stability of control rule is proved Liapunov function. System input to the mobile robot is reference posture ($\chi$$\_$r/, y$\_$r/, $\theta$$\_$r/)/sup/ $\tau$/ and reference e velocity (ν$\_$r/,$\omega$$\_$r/)$\^$$\tau$/. System output of the mobi-le robot is velocity of driving wheels. We introduce limit velocity for preventing high initial speed. From simulation results, we can see the proposed control rule is stable.

Flight Technical Error Modeling for UAV supported by Local Area Differential GNSS (LADGNSS 항법지원을 받는 무인항공기의 비행 기술 오차 모델링 기법)

  • Navigation accuracy, integrity, and safety of commercial Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is becoming crucial as utilization of UAV in commercial applications is expected to increase. Recently, the concept of Local-Area Differential GNSS (LADGNSS) which can provide navigation accuracy and integrity of UAV was proposed. LADGNSS can provide differential corrections and separation distances for precise and safe operation of the UAV. In order to derive separation distances between UAVs, modeling of Flight Technical Error (FTE) is required. In most cases, FTE for civil aircraft has been assumed to be zero-mean normal distribution. However, this assumption can cause overconservatism especially for UAV, because UAV may use control and navigation equipments in wider performance range and follow more diverse path than standard airway for civil aircraft. In this research, flight experiments were carried out to understand the characteristics of FTE distribution. Also, this paper proposes to use Johnson distribution which can better describe heavy-tailed and skewed FTE data. Futhermore, Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Anderson-Darling tests were conducted to evaluate the goodness of fit of Johnson model.

  • In this paper, a zero-velocity update technique to improve navigation accuracy of a SDINS(Strapdown Inertial Navigation System) has been studied. An indirect feedback Kalman filter which includes SDINS error equations based on a quaternion between body-fixed frame and local level navigation frame is employed for processing zero-velocity updates in an on-board navigation filter. Simulation results for land-mobile vehicle show that the zerovelocity update technique make a significant contribution to improving SDINS performance without any external aids.
