  • We have investigated effects of local damage accumulation for ultra-low energy As and B ion implant using highly efficient molecular dynamics(MD) scheme. We simulated ion implantation by MD simulation using recoil ion approximation (RIA) method and local cell damage accumulation (LCDA) model proposed in the paper. Local damage accumulation probability function consisted of deposited energy in a unit cell, implant dose rate, target material, projectile atom, and recoil event number. The simulated results were good agreement with the experimental and other simulated results. The MDRANGE results without damage accumulation were different from SIMS data in the tail region. We also simulated 2 dimensional dopant and damage profiles using the local damage accumulation model and recoil ion approximation method.

  • The present study was investigated the local heat transfer characteristics and temperature distribution on the louver fin by using the expansion model. Heat transfer rate, frost mass and temperature distribution of the louver fin under frosting condition were experimentally investigated. Local heat transfer rate and heat flux on the louver were analyzed by the conduction heat transfer between top and lower part of the louver. The experimental key parameter was brine inlet temperature(-5, -10, $-15^{\circ}C$). The heat transfer performance and frost mass at brine temperature of $-15^{\circ}C$ were increased by maximum 3 time than the brine temperature of $-5^{\circ}C$. At all experimental case, local heat transfer rate and heat flux of the louver were almost symmetry at the louver number of 6. Especially, local heat transfer rate and heat flux were maximum increased on the louver number of 4 and 8.

  • The local horizintal flux of tidal energy is characterized by the surface density $\omega$ = $\rho$ g h ζ u ($\rho$ - sea water density, g - gravitation, h - depth, ζ - tidal surface elevation, u - vertically averaged tidal current velocity vector). In general the flux vector $\omega$ comprises active and reactive components whose relation determines the local structure of a tidal wave.(omitted)

  • Fracture behaviors of pipes with local wall thinning are very important for the integrity of nuclear power plant. In pipes of energy plants, sometimes, the local wall thinning may result from severe erosion-corrosion (E/C) damage. However, the effects of local wall thinning on strength and fracture behaviors of piping system were not well studied. In this paper, the monotonic bending tests were performed of full-scale welded and unwelded carbon steel pipes with local wall thinning. A monotonic bending load was applied to straight pipe specimens by four-point loading at ambient temperature without internal pressure. The observed failure modes were divided into four types; ovalization, crack initiation/growth after ovalization, local buckling and crack initiation/growth after local buckling. Also, the strengths of welded and unwelded piping system with local wall thinning were evaluated.

  • The influence of the fracture process zone (FPZ) on the fracture properties is one of the hottest topics in the field of fracture mechanics for cementitious materials. Within the FPZ in front of a traction free crack, cohesive forces are distributed in accordance with the softening stress-separation constitutive relation of the material. Therefore, further crack propagation necessitates energy dissipation, which is the work done by the cohesive forces. In this paper $g_f$, the local fracture energy characterizing the energy consumption due to the cohesive forces, is discussed. The computational expression of $g_f$ in the FPZ can be obtained for any stage during the material fracture process regarding the variation of FPZ, whether in terms of its length or width. $G_{fa}$, the average energy consumption along the crack extension region, has also been computed and discussed in this paper. The experimental results obtained from the wedge splitting tests on specimens with different initial notch ratios are employed to investigate the property of the local fracture energy $g_f$ and the average value $G_{fa}$ over the crack extension length. These results can be used to indicate the influence of the FPZ. Additionally, changes in the length of the FPZ during the fracture process are also studied.

  • This study was designed to investigate a method for short-term, real-time energy demand prediction, to cope with changing loads for the effective operation and management of buildings. Through a case study, a novel methodology for real-time energy demand prediction with the use of weather forecasting data was suggested. To perform the input and output operations of weather data, and to calculate solar radiation and EnergyPlus, the BCVTB (Building Control Virtual Test Bed) was designed. Through the BCVTB, energy demand prediction for the next 24 hours was carried out, based on 4 real-time weather data and 2 solar radiation calculations. The weather parameters used in a model equation to calculate solar radiation were sourced from the weather data of the KMA (Korea Meteorological Administration). Depending on the local weather forecast data, the results showed their corresponding predicted values. Thus, this methodology was successfully applicable to anywhere that local weather forecast data is available.

  • Energy recovery battery testing systems (ERBTS) have been widely used in battery manufactures. All the ERBTS are connected in parallel which forms a special and complicated micro-grid system, which has the shortcomings of low energy recovery efficiency, complex grid-connected control algorithms issues for islanded detection, and complicated power circuit topology issues. To solve those shortcomings, a DC micro-grid system is proposed, the released testing energy has the priority to be reutilized between various testing system within the local grid, Compared to conventional scheme, the proposed system has the merits of a simplified power circuit topology, no needs for synchronous control, and much higher testing efficiency. The testing energy can be cycle-used inside the local micro-grid. The additional energy can be recovered to AC-grid. Numerous experimental comparison results between conventional and proposed scheme are provided to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed technique.

  • Aerial objects are more challenging to segment than normal objects, which are usually smaller and have less textural detail. In the process of segmentation, target objects are easily omitted and misdetected, which is problematic. To alleviate these issues, we propose local aggregation feature pyramid networks (LAFPNs) and pyramid integrated context modules (PICMs) for aerial object segmentation. First, using an LAFPN, while strengthening the deep features, the extent to which low-level features interfere with high-level features is reduced, and numerous dense and small aerial targets are prevented from being mistakenly detected as a whole. Second, the PICM uses global information to guide local features, which enhances the network's comprehensive understanding of an entire image and reduces the missed detection of small aerial objects due to insufficient texture information. We evaluate our network with the MS COCO dataset using three categories: airplanes, birds, and kites. Compared with Mask R-CNN, our network achieves performance improvements of 1.7%, 4.9%, and 7.7% in terms of the AP metrics for the three categories. Without pretraining or any postprocessing, the segmentation performance of our network for aerial objects is superior to that of several recent methods based on classic algorithms.

  • It is a general tendency to digitalize the conventional relay based I&C systems in nuclear power plant. But, the digitalization of nuclear safety systems has many a difficulty to surmount. The typical on thing of many difficulties is the data communication problem between local controllers and systems. The network architecture built with LAN(Local Area Network) in digital systems of the other industries are general. But in case of nuclear safety systems many considerations in point of safety and license are required to implement it in the field. In this paper, some considerations for applying LAN in nuclear safety systems were reviewed.
