  • This paper presents a wired and wireless linked remote control system. Ethernet based network communication is used for long distance management and 2.4GHz RF network is adopted for the local area communication between the main network and the ballast. For the effective remote control and management including dimming using wired and wireless linked digital communication networks, control circuit of the ballast is implemented with fully digital circuit using MCU and EPLD. In this paper, the proper frame structure is proposed for the digital-remote lighting-control system and the detailed system configurations including fully digital controlled ballast for the induction lamp are described.

영상 처리에 의한 분무 액적의 크기 및 속도 추출 (Measurement of Sizes and Velocities of Spray Droplets by Image Processing Method)

  • In this study, the sizes and velocities of droplets in sprays were measured by image processing method from digital images of local region of sprays. The morphological method based on the Euclidean distance transform, Watershed separation, and perimeter image was adopted for the recognition and separation of overlapped particles. The match probability method was used for the particle tracking and pairing. The measurement results show that the present method may be reliable for the analysis of the motion and distribution of droplets produced by spray and atomization devices.

802.11a 무선랜간 간섭최소화를 위한 이격거리 제안 (A Proposal of separation distance to minimize interference between 802.11a WLANs)

  • 실내.외 환경에서 무선을 이용하여 데이터를 송수신하는 무선 LAN(Local Area Network)은 고속성과 이동성의 우수성으로 인하여 관심이 고조되고 있고, ETSI에 의한 HIPERLAN/2 와 IEEE 802.11 가 5㎓ 주파수대역에서 표준화되었고 개발 중이다. 본 논문에서는 향후 서비스 예정인 802.11a 무선랜간 간섭을 최소화시키기 위해 셀간 거리를 얼마나 이격 시켜야 되는지에 대하여 다룬다. 먼저 표준화 내용을 바탕으로 802.11a 무선랜의 C/I 비에 따른 성능평가를 수행하였고, 거리에 따른 처리율(throughput)을 시뮬레이션 하였다. 그리고 동일한 주파수를 사용하는 동일 셀에 의한 간섭의 영향을 보기 위하여 최악을 시나리오를 가정하여, 셀간 거리에 따른 무선랜의 성능의 변화를 보았고, 간섭을 최소화시키기 위해 최소한의 이격거리를 제안하였다.

  • A volume integral equation method (VIEM) is used to calculate the plane elastostatic field in an isotropic elastic half-plane containing multiple isotropic or anisotropic inclusions subject to remote loading. A detailed analysis of stress field at the interface between the matrix and the central inclusion in the first column of square packing is carried out for different values of the distance between the center of the central inclusion in the first column of square packing of inclusions and the traction-free surface boundary in an isotropic elastic half-plane containing multiple isotropic or anisotropic inclusions. The method is shown to be very accurate and effective for investigating the local stresses in an isotropic elastic half-plane containing multiple isotropic or anisotropic inclusions.

  • The objective of this paper is to introduce the standard of evaluation methods and fatigue test for linear motion rolling bearing. In particular, attention well be given to the list of evaluation and fatigue results in this paper. The life of a linear motion rolling bearing is given by the length of distance covered between the connection parts before the first evidence of fatigue develops in the material of one of the raceways of rolling elements. The main factors that contribute to fatigue failures include: Number of load cycles experienced; Range of stress experienced in each load cycle; Mean stress experienced in each toad cycle; Presence of local stress concentrations.

  • This paper presents a novel localization paradigm for mobile robots based on artificial and natural landmarks. A model-based object recognition method detects natural landmarks and conducts the global and topological localization. In addition, a metric localization method using artificial landmarks is fused to complement the deficiency of topology map and guide to action behavior. The recognition algorithm uses a modified local Zernike moments and a probabilistic voting method for the robust detection of objects in cluttered indoor environments. An artificial landmark is designed to have a three-dimensional multi-colored structure and the projection distortion of the structure encodes the distance and viewing direction of the robot. We demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed system through real world experiments using a mobile robot, KASIRI-III.

GMT 평판의 볼트조인트 강도 평가 (Estimation of Bolted Joint Strength of Flat Plate of Glass-Mat Reinforced Thermoplastics)

  • In this study, bolted joint made of Glass-Mat Reinforced Thermoplastics (GMT) specimen was under tensile loading to investigate the relation between joint strength and glass-fiber weight fraction of the flat plate specimen. The effect of molding conditions such as the initial size of a GMT charge and molding temperatures was investigated under plane strain condition. In consideration of the specimen geometry, minimum end distance and width of the specimen to induce the bearing fracture mode of the bolted joint were determined. And finally, the effect of the outer diameter of washer and clamping pressure on joint strength was also investigated. Since joint strength is dependent on the local glass-fiber weight fraction, experimentally measured strength was modified, considering its irregular values of the specimen molded under various processing conditions in order to obtain a reasonable correlation between the two.

완전 발달된 원형 충돌제트의 노즐 직경이 열전달에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Nozzle Diameter on Heat Transfer to a Fully Developed Round Impinging Jet)

  • The effect of nozzle diameter on the local Nusselt number distributions has been investigated for an axisymmetric turbulent jet impinging on the flat plate surface. The flow at the nozzle exit has a fully developed velocity profile. A uniform heat flux boundary condition at the plate surface was created using gold film Intrex. Liquid Crystal was used to measure the plate surface temperature. The experiments were made for the jet Reynolds number (Re) 23,000, the dimensionless nozzle to surface distance (L/d) from 2 to 14, and the nozzle diameter (d) from 1.36 to 3.40 cm. The results show that the Nusselt number at and near the stagnation point increase with an increasing value of the nozzle diameter.

Periocular Recognition Using uMLBP and Attribute Features

  • The field of periocular biometrics has gained wide attention as an alternative or supplemental means to conventional biometric traits such as the iris or the face. Periocular biometrics provide intermediate resolution between the iris and the face, which enables it to support both. We have developed a periocular recognition system by using uniform Multiscale Local Binary Pattern (uMLBP) and attribute features. The proposed system has been evaluated in terms of major factors that need to be considered on a mobile platform (e.g., distance and facial pose) to assess the feasibility of the use of periocular biometrics on mobile devices. Experimental results showed 98.7% of rank-1 identification accuracy on a subset of the Face Recognition Grand Challenge (FRGC) database, which is the best performance among similar studies.

수도권 지하철 정기권 도입방안 (A study on introducing Season Ticket in Seoul metropolitan area)

  • Since July 1st of 2004, a transit fare system of Seoul metropolitan area has been changed. The distinguished characteristics of the system can be described as two issues that can be summarized by distance based fare for Seoul metropolitan area and fare discount between bus and transit in Seoul city area. In Seoul city area, some existing subway users, however, complained the raised fare compared to previous fare system. An alternative, season ticket was introduced by Seoul local government in July 15th of 2004. Due to the ticket, even though periodic subway users could reduce average subway costs, the benefit of the season ticket was very limited to subway users in Seoul city area. Therefore, this study proposes a methodology to enlarge the benefit of the existing season ticket in Seoul metropolitan area.
