  • This paper presents an analytical investigation pertaining to the elastic buckling behavior of pultruded fiber reinforced plastic equal-leg angle members under concentric axial compression. The elastic local and global buckling (flexural, torsional, and flexural-torsional) analyses are conducted, respectively, and the analytical results are compared with the existing experimental results. The differences were more than 10%, and the experimental results were higher than the analytical results.

국부 적응 문턱값을 가지는 제로트리 부호화 (Zerotree coding with local adaptive threshold)

  • Zerotreeimage coding is known as a simple and effective image comprssion algorithm. It has the property that the compression is generated in order of improtance. Conventionally, a fixed threshold is applied to the entire wavelet coefficients regardless of frequency and local features of an image. In this paper, we propose a new zerotree coding scheme with adaptive threshold. The adaptive threshold is determined by human visual characteristics. It is shown that the image quality of the proposed method is better than that of the conventional method.

Critical buckling load of chiral double-walled carbon nanotube using non-local theory elasticity

  • The present paper investigate the elastic buckling of chiral double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) under axial compression. Using the non-local elasticity theory, Timoshenko beam model has been implemented. According to the governing equations of non-local theory, the analytical solution is derived and the solution for non-local critical buckling loads is obtained. The numerical results show the influence of non-local small-scale coefficient, the vibrational mode number, the chirality of carbon nanotube and aspect ratio of the (DWCNTs) on non-local critical buckling loads of the (DWCNTs). The results indicate the dependence of non-local critical buckling loads on the chirality of single-walled carbon nanotube with increase the non-local small-scale coefficient, the vibrational mode number and aspect ratio of length to diameter.

  • This paper presents the deformation characteristics of cam ring in a balanced type vane pump. Cam ring is operated in the high-pressure condition. Therefore the local deformation of cam ring affects the characteristics of compression, vane motion and noise and vibration. We analyzed the deformation of cam ring for the three types by using the finite element method. The deformed shape of cam ring and the effects of deformation on the compression are presented. As a result of analysis, we know that the right hole of the cam ring has advantage for reducing the pressure overshoot.

  • 본 연구에서는 먼저, 단열 압축기 또는 단열압축 과정에 대한 기존의 효율들, 즉 등 엔트로피 효율과 폴리트로픽 효율 및 엑서지 효율에서의 출력에 해당하는 양의 의미를 검토하고, 이들을 엑서지 출력을 일반화 시킨 형태의 일종으로서 설명하며, 기 타의 가능한 효율을 정의하고, 나아가 같은 논리를 압축과정 중 외부와 열교환이 있는 비단열 압축과정에 대하여 확장 적용시켜 비단열 압축과정에서의 열역학 제2법칙적 출 력 및 효율들을 정의하고 그들의 특성을 살펴보려 한다.

An Adaptive Histogram Equalization Based Local Technique for Contrast Preserving Image Enhancement

  • The main purpose of image enhancement is to improve certain characteristics of an image to improve its visual quality. This paper proposes a method for image contrast enhancement that can be applied to both medical and natural images. The proposed algorithm is designed to achieve contrast enhancement while also preserving the local image details. To achieve this, the proposed method combines local image contrast preserving dynamic range compression and contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE). Global gain parameters for contrast enhancement are inadequate for preserving local image details. Therefore, in the proposed method, in order to preserve local image details, local contrast enhancement at any pixel position is performed based on the corresponding local gain parameter, which is calculated according to the current pixel neighborhood edge density. Different image quality measures are used for evaluating the performance of the proposed method. Experimental results show that the proposed method provides more information about the image details, which can help facilitate further image analysis.

Local buckling behaviour of steel plate elements supported by a plastic foam material

  • Sandwich panels comprising steel facings and a polystyrene foam core are increasingly used as roof and wall claddings in buildings in Australia. When they are subjected to loads causing bending and/or axial compression, the steel plate elements of their profiled facing are susceptible to local buckling. However, when compared to panels with no foam core, they demonstrate significantly improved local buckling behaviour because they are supported by foam. In order to quantify such improvements and to validate the use of available design buckling stress formulae, an investigation using finite element analyses and laboratory experiments was carried out on steel plates that are commonly used in Australia of varying yield stress and thickness supported by a polystyrene foam core. This paper presents the details of this investigation, the buckling results and their comparison with available design buckling formulae.

  • In the steel Structural design, buckling is the main factor to determine size, particularly in compression member. Buckling may sometimes occur in the form of wrinkles in thin elements, such as webs, flanges, and other parts that make up a section. This phenomenon is called local buckling. The strength of the steel and the rigidity of the frame are considerably deteriorated by the local buckling. The specimens used for this experiments, H-Shape Steel beams composed by fillet-welding, are dessified classified into two groups, ie one for web test and another for flange fest. The aim of this study is to define the influences by the local bucking on the vesisting forces, deformation and the phenomena of the internal forces in the section, and to collect the basic data for design of steel beams.

보강원통셸의 최소중량화설계 연구 (A Study on the Minimum Weight Design of Stiffened Cylindrical Shells)

  • 본 연구에서는 여러가지 하중조건하에서 단순지지된 보강원통셸의 최소중량화 설계문제를 CONMIN을 사용하여 해석하고, 일반적인 대칭적층[0/.+-..theta./90]$_{s}$ 의 복합 적층원통셸, 복합적층honeycomb sandwich원통셸, 그리고 보강된 복합적층원통셸의 최 소중량화 설계문제에도 확장 적용한다. 설계변수(design variable)로는 등방성재료 인 경우와 복합적층인 경우 최대 9개, 부등제한조건으로는 전체좌굴(general buckling ), 준전체좌굴(panel buckling), 판 및 보강재의 국부좌굴(local cripping), 로링모드 (rolling mode), 그리고 응력과 변형률제한 등의 성질제한조건(behavior constraints) 과 설계변수의 상, 하한을 나타내는 기하학적 제한(side constraints)등 최대 32개를 설정한다. 본 최소중량화 설계예에서는 보강재의 최적단면형상을 검토하기 위하여 직사각형(R)형, I형, 그리고 T형 단면 등의 보강재들을 사용한다.

송도신도시 압밀층 두께의 국부적 불확실성 평가 (Local Uncertainty of Thickness of Consolidation Layer for Songdo New City)

  • 압밀층 두께와 같은 지층 변수들은 공간적인 분포 추정 자체도 중요하지만 추정에 수반되는 불확실성을 정량적으로 평가하는 것도 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 송도신도시 압밀층 두께 추정결과의 국부적 불확실성을 지시자 방법을 이용하여 평가하였다. 지시자 방법을 이용하여 작성한 각 위치에서의 조건부 누적분포함수의 평균을 이용하여 송도신도시 압밀층 두께의 공간적 분포를 추정하였으며, 추정결과의 불확실성은 조건부 분산을 이용하여 평가할 수 있었다. 이러한 분석결과는 송도신도시 이차압축침하량의 공간적 분포추정과 추정결과의 불확실성 평가에 활용할 수 있었다.
