We analyzed the effect of local college students' economic activities on the local economy. The analysis method was an industry-related analysis based on data obtained from a survey. As a result of the analysis, local university students were found to be sensitive to price when consuming due to insufficient living infrastructure around local universities. In addition, as a result of analyzing the impact of local college students' consumption expenditures on the local economy, especially local income, using a regional industry correlation table, the total income generated was KRW 130.6 billion (direct and indirect income effects KRW 90.9 billion, induced income effects KRW 39.6 billion), and the number of people induced to be employed was KRW 130.6 billion. It was estimated that there were 2,145 people per year. We examined the effect of local college students' economic activities on the local economy through quantitative analysis. This is a contribution point of the study as evidence supporting the maintenance and necessity of local universities, and suggests that the government and local governments should take active interest and efforts in fostering local universities.
Local college students are differenciated from Seoul-located university students and they experience discrimination and prejudice. The present paper examines the money-relating daily frustration among local university students compared to Seoul-located college students. For survey, twenty items were constructed in order to figure out daily frustration. About 400 local-college students and about 250 students were interviewed for the survey. As a result of Chi-square analysis, this study finds that local college students are more likely to confront money-relating frustration, compared to the Seoul-located college students. Youth allowance can be suggested for local college students in order to solve their confronting frustration, especially toward the convergence era.

As the attracting foreign student has become a very important strategy, detailed researches on their college selection and their satisfaction with college life are needed. Especially it is necessary to distinguish ordinary international students and those who take classes in Local Education Centers (LEC) before coming to Korea. The central purpose of this study is to identify how the two types of students differ in their perception of college selection factors and what factors affect their satisfaction with college life. A total of 186 international students participated in the study. It was found that the most important college selection factor of the pre-educated LEC students was 'obtaining academic ability through online classes and transfer of credit hours'. Second, these students reported that the two influential factors for their satisfaction with college life were 'quality of education' and 'cultural experience program'. Third, it was found that the major college selection factors influencing ordinary international students' college life satisfaction were 'expertise of faculty', 'transfer of credit through curriculum links', and 'recommendation from teachers at home country'. Fourth, the major factors affecting the pre-educated LEC students' satisfaction with college life were 'KSL classes at LE's', 'expertise of faculty', and 'financial aid system'.

Because of the local college students' learning ability stands on a relatively low level, this research is accomplished to inspire students with further desires, considering students' learning ability and desire. As a result of research we can find the existence of the learning ability difference between the students in local colleges and in the capital area colleges. From the multiphasic personality inventory and the personal orientation inventory it is confirmed that the personalities of the students in both areas are almost same, and from the question investigation it is confirmed that the students in local colleges have relatively low interests of their curriculums and few confidence of success as a expert.

This paper compares efficiency results and performance targets for academic departments in a local private college using DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis). Because of an aging society, a smaller school-age population entering colleges, and enhanced accreditation standards by the government, colleges and universities are not recruiting and retaining sufficient students and therefore are struggling for survival. In contrast to popular four-year undergraduate universities concentrated in Seoul and its satellite cities, retaining students is critical for the survival of local private colleges in poor or remote regions. Therefore, it is very important to identify the factors involved in the retention of students in the various departments of a college. However, given the different characteristics of the departments, it is difficult to identify one unique or robust set of standards to evaluate their performance. The purpose of this paper is to maximize student retention capabilities by ensuring that additional resources are assigned to efficient DMUs, while, inefficient DMUs are given benchmarked targets. Based on previous studies and college accreditation standards, this paper presents indices to be used in evaluating the efficiency of academic departments in a college. In evaluating relative efficiency, this paper uses the output-oriented BCC model. To define target levels to be achieved for efficient DMU, a multi-stage DEA procedure is used.

Among the social development factors, responsibility, autonomy, and sociality were high. After the education, students recognized that the interest and necessity of history were high in order to understand the present society, thought that they made a lot of development compared to the previous one, and answered that the main development factors of history were the people and that there was a change in perception through this education. This study was composed of the survey after the education, so the psychological characteristics of the individual were not reflected, and it is difficult to generalize it because the number of subjects is small. In the future, more subjects need to be investigated and local residents need to investigate changes in local awareness.

As for satisfaction level with the departments by educational system, the students who were in four-year colleges in the metropolitan area expressed lower satisfaction than the students who were in local and three-year colleges. The three-year college students were more gratified with the curriculums than the four-year college students(t=2.03, p<0.05), and the latter was more satisfied with the educational facilities(t=-4.12, p<0.001) and interpersonal relationships(t=-3.07, p<0.01) than the former. 3. In the case of the three-year college students, those whose colleges were located in the metropolitan area were more contented with the educational facilities(t=5.28, p<0.001), and there were no significant differences in satisfaction level with other factors. 4. In the case of the four-year college students, the local college students were more contented with the curriculums(t=-5.39, p<0.001), educational facilities(t=-5.18, p<0.001) and the departments(t=-3.98, p<0.001) than their counterparts in the colleges located in the metropolitan area. In terms of satisfaction level with the department of dental hygiene, the four-year college students located in the metropolitan area expressed noticeably lower satisfaction with the curriculums than the local and three-year college students. This study shows how much the local college influences the local economy using the Keynes Model, which is evaluated as the basic of macro economics. The methods of research are economic measurement and empirical study being used questionnaire study. First of all, the result being used Keynes model shows that the local economy has been grown by the students of "D" university from 1994 to 2002, which is approximately more than 100 billion won a year. The amount is more than 15-30% among the gross income in "S" city. Next, the survey was carried out making the students of "D" university and villagers an object of it, which is especially a comparative study between "D" university and "K" university nearby "S" city. The result is as the follows; the influence of the two universities towards local economy is almost same, but the villagers in "S" city underestimate the valuable. In the result, the shortage of understanding about the importance of local college would cause obstructing not only the potential ability of local college, eventually, but also the development of the region.
