회전원판공정을 이용한 하수의 질산화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Rotating Biological Contactors for the Nitrification of Sewage)

  • Nitrogen, in its various forms, can deplete dissolved oxygen levels in receiving waters, stimulate aquatic growth, exhibit toxicity toward aquatic life and affect the suitability of sewage for reuse. Pilot-scale Rotating Biological Contactor(RBC) experiments were conducted to examine biological nitrification, respectively, of municipal sewage with five different internal recirculation ratios of 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 using the constant hydraulic loading of $205L/m^2{\cdot}day$. The use of internal recirculation improved nitrification on account of the dilution of biodegradable organic carbon in influent sewage down to 15 mg/L of $SBOD_5$ or less. Ammonium nitrogen of $14.3{\pm}2.4%$ was consumed by cellular assimilation without the occurrence of denitrification. The thickness of biofilm didn't seem effect significantly the nitrification and denitrification. Nitrification with internal recirculation was found to occur using hydraulic loading rate of as high as $205L/m^2{\cdot}day$, which was beyond the generally known values of it.

유량 조절과 인 부하 변동에 따른 강정고령보 조류저감 효과 수치 모의 (Simulations of the Effect of Flow Control and Phosphate Loading on the Reduction of Algae Biomass in Gangjeong-Goryong Weir)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 낙동강 내에 위치한 강정고령보 구간을 대상으로 EFDC 모델을 검정하고, 보 구간의 유량에 따른 체류시간과 유입수 인 농도 변화가 수질 및 조류 그룹별(규조류, 녹조류, 남조류) 생체량에 미치는 영향을 평가하는데 있다. 2018년 실험자료를 이용하여 모델을 검정한 결과, 보 구간의 수위와 수온의 수직 분포, DO, 유기물, 질소, 인 계열의 시계열 변화를 적절히 모의하였다. 조류 그룹별 생체량 예측에 있어서는 계절별 변동 특성은 적절히 재현하였으나, 일부기간에 실측값과 편차가 크게 나타났다. 보의 관리수위와 유량을 조절하는 시나리오 모의결과, 보의 운영 수위를 낮출수록 유량을 증가시킬수록 수온성층이 완화 또는 해소되는 것으로 분석되었다. 강정고령보에서 수온성층이 해소된 유속은 약 0.1 m/s였으며, 이는 금강의 백제보에서 연구결과와 일치한다. 2Q 유량 시나리오 모의결과, Chl-a는 8.7% 감소하였고 규조류와 녹조류 세포수 밀도도 감소하였다. 하지만 남조류 세포수는 오히려 증가하였는데, 그 이유는 유량이 증가함에 따라 유속이 빨라져 상류경계조건의 높은 남조류 농도가 하류에 직접 영향을 끼친 것으로 나타났다. 유입수 인 부하 농도(평균 0.056mg/L)를 50% 수준으로 저감하는 시나리오 모의결과, Chl-a는 13.6 % 감소하였다. 연구결과는 강정고령보의 조류 과잉성장을 억제하기 위해서는 수리학적 제어와 함께 상류 유입 조류 농도와 인 부하량 저감이 동시에 고려되어야 함을 시사한다.

Effect of Overlayer Thickness of Hole Transport Material on Photovoltaic Performance in Solid-Sate Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell

  • The photovoltaic performance of solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells employing hole transport material (HTM), 2,2',7,7'-tetrakis-(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenyl-amine)-9,9'-spirobifluorene (spiro-MeOTAD), has been investigated in terms of HTM overlayer thickness. Two important parameters, soak time and spin-coating rate, are varied to control the HTM thickness. Decrease in the period of loading the spiro-MeOTAD solution on $TiO_2$ layer (soak time) leads to decrease in the HTM overlayer thickness, whereas decrease in spin-coating rate increases the HTM overlayer thickness. Photocurrent density and fill factor increase with decreasing the overlayer thickness, whereas open-circuit voltage remains almost unchanged. The improved photocurrent density is mainly ascribed to the enhanced charge transport rate, associated with the improved charge collection efficiency. Among the studied HTM overlayer thicknesses, ca. 230 nm-thick HTM overlayer demonstrates best efficiency of 4.5% at AM 1.5G one sun light intensity.

pH조절이 음식폐기물의 유기산발효에 미치는 영향 (Effect of pH on the $VFA_s$ fermentation in the anaerobic treatment of food waste)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the created liquid post-acid fermentation of usability of denitrification as exterior carbon sources by pH control. The time of acid fermentation of food waste, the slower loading capacity of organic matter, the faster decomposition rate, but the density of generation Volatile Fermentation Acids(VFAs), was weak and, $SBOD_{5}$ : ST-N rate and $SBOD_{5}/SCOD_{Cr}$ rate was low. Between TS and VS, VS was decreased to 4.5th day fast, and then was decreased slowly. 1.5 days after stating the experiments, $SCOD_{Cr}$, $SBOD_{5}$, STOC and $VFA_{s}$ was decreased of increased slowly, and then increased fast. And after showing the highest density, it was tended to decreased fast. At the time of $SBOD_{5}$ with the highest density, at $SBOD_{5}$ : ST-N ratio, $R_1$ was 303:1, $R_2$ was 319:1, $R_3$was the highest. After studying $SBOD_{5}$ : ST-N ratio and $SBOD_{5}/SCOD_{Cr}$ ratio, as a carbon source of biological denitrification it was profitable composition ratio.

RALS시행시 선원의 거리 이동및 직장선량에 관한 계산치와 측정치의 비교연구 (Dose Distribution of Rectum in the treatment of Uterine Cervical Cancer using Remote Afterloading System)

  • 선량분포특성은 거리의 제곱에 반비례하기 때문에 근접조사에서 선원의 조그마한 오차는 선량계산에서 큰 차이를 초래할 수 있어서 선원의 정확한 거리 이동과 그에 따른 critical organ에 조사되는 선량의 정확도는 자궁경부암 환자의 치료성적에 결정적인 역할을 할 수가 있다. 특히 High Dose Rate의 RALS(Remote After Loading System)에서 선원의 정확한 calibration은 자궁경부암 환자의 치료에서 선량분포에 지대한 영향을 미치며 나아가 이 선량분포는 치료후 나타나는 재발 및 합병증이나 휴유증의 발생에도 큰 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 연구에서는 실제 RALS시 선원의 거리 이동을 측정하여 치료계획용 computer에서 계산된 선원간의 거리 이동과 비교 검토하였으며 Rectum 위치에 chamber를 삽입하여 실제 Rectum에 조사되는 선량과 computer에서 계산된 값들을 비교검토하였다. Tandem Source을 1cm 간격으로 거리를 이동하면서 실험을 되풀이 한 결과 처음 monitor로 1cm을 이동할 때 측정치가 0.8cm 이동한 것으로 나타났으며, 2번째부터 5번째까지의 거리 이동에서는 monitor의 값과 측정치의 값이 정확하게 일치하였다. 또한 12명의 환자를 대상으로 실시한 Rectum dose의 측정치는 computer계산치보다 평균 8%로 낮게 나타났다.

EGR 장착 스파크 점화 LPG 엔진의 성능 및 배기특성 (Performance and Emission Characteristics in a Spark-Ignition LPG Engine with Exhaust Gas Recirculation)

  • An experimental study was conducted to investigate the effects of EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) variables on performance and emission characteristics in a 2-liter 4-cylinder spark-ignition LPG fuelled engine. The effects of EGR on the reduction of thermal loading at exhaust manifold were also investigated because the reduced gas temperature is desirable for the reliability of an engine in light of both thermal efficiency and material issue of exhaust manifold. The steady-state tests show that the brake thermal efficiency increased and the brake specific fuel consumption decreased with the increase of EGR rate in hot EGR and with the decrease of EGR temperature in case of cooled EGR, while the stable combustion was maintained. The increase of EGR rate or the decrease of EGR temperature results in the reduction of NOx emission even in the increase of HC emission. Furthermore, decreasing EGR temperature by $180^{\circ}C$ enabled the reduction of exhaust gas temperature by $15^{\circ}C$ in cooled EGR test at 1600rpm/370kPa BMEP operation, and consequently the reduction of thermal load at exhaust. The optimization strategy of EGR application is to be discussed by the investigation on the effect of geometrical characteristics of EGR-supplying pipe line.

Optimum Operation of a PVDF-type Hollow Fiber Membrane Bioreactor for Continuous Sewage Treatment

  • A membrane bioreactor (MBR) was designed using polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)-type hollow fiber membrane modules with a treatment capacity of 10 ton/day. A pilot plant was installed in a sewage treatment plant and was operated with an intermittent aeration method which avoids any concentration gradient of suspended solids (SS) in the MBR. For continuous operation, the pilot plant was first tested with influent (mixed liquor suspended solid:MLSS of 1000-2000 mg/L) of aeration tanks in the sewage treatment plant. The MBR was pre-treated with washing water, 10% ethanol solution, 5% NaOCl solution and finally washing water, one after another. To demonstrate the effect of the MBR on sewage treatment, compared with conventional activated sludge processes, we investigated the relationships among permeate amount (LMH), change in operation conditions, influent MLSS level and sludge production. It was found that the optimum aeration rate and suction pressure were $0.3\;m^3$/min and 30~31 cmHg, respectively. Under stable conditions in aeration, suction pressure, influent flow rate and drainage, the SS removal efficiency was more than 99.99% even when the MLSS loading rate changes. Compared with conventional activated sludge processes, the MBR was more effective in cost reduction by 27% based on permeate amount and by 51.5% on sludge production.

High Performance Fiber Reinforced Cement Composites with Innovative Slip Hardending Twisted Steel Fibers

  • This paper provides a brief summary of the performance of an innovative slip hardening twisted steel fiber in comparison with other fibers including straight steel smooth fiber, high strength steel hooked fiber, SPECTRA (high molecular weight polyethylene) fiber and PVA fiber. First the pull-out of a single fiber is compared under static loading conditions, and slip rate-sensitivity is evaluated. The unique large slip capacity of T-fiber during pullout is based on its untwisting fiber pullout mechanism, which leads to high equivalent bond strength and composites with high ductility. Due to this large slip capacity a smaller amount of T-fibers is needed to obtain strain hardening tensile behavior of fiber reinforced cementitious composites. Second, the performance of different composites using T-fibers and other fibers subjected to tensile and flexural loadings is described and compared. Third, strain rate effect on the behavior of composites reinforced with different types and amounts of fibers is presented to clarify the potential application of HPFRCC for seismic, impact and blast loadings.

Cross-Linked Starch Microspheres: Effect of Cross-Linking Condition on the Microsphere Characteristics

  • Cross-linked starch microspheres were prepared using different kinds of cross-linking agents. The influence of several parameters on morphology, size, swelling ratio and drug release rate from these microspheres were evaluated. These parameters included cross-linker type, concentration and the duration of cross-linking reaction. Microspheres cross-linked with glutaraldehyde had smooth surface compared with those prepared with epichlorhydrine or formaldehyde. The particle size increased with increasing the cross-linking time and increasing the drug loading. Swelling ratio of the particles was a function of cross-linker type but not the concentration or time of cross-linking. Drug release from starch microspheres was measured in phosphate buffer and also in phosphate buffer containing a-amylase. Results showed that microspheres cross-linked with epichlorhydrine released all their drug content in the first 30 minutes. However, cross-linking of the starch microspheres with glutaraldehyde or formaldehyde decreased drug release rate. SEM and drug release studies showed that cross-linked starch microspheres were susceptible to the enzymatic degradation under the influence of alpha-amylase. Changing the enzyme concentration from 5000 to 10,000 IU/L, increased drug release rate but higher concentration of enzyme (20,000 IU/L) caused no more acceleration.

Hill48 이차 항복식을 이용한 변형률 속도에 따른 수정된 항복곡면의 구성 (Construction of Modified Yield Loci with Respect to the Strain Rates using Hill48 Quadratic Yield Function)

  • Since the forming process involves the strain rate effect, a yield function considering the strain rate is indispensible to predict the accurate final blank shape in the forming simulation. One of the most widely used in the forming analysis is the Hill48 quadratic yield function due to its simplicity and low computing cost. In this paper, static and dynamic uni-axial tensile tests according to the loading direction have been carried out in order to measure the yield stress and the r-value. Based on the measured results, the Hill48 yield loci have been constructed, and their performance to describe the plastic anisotropy has been quantitatively evaluated. The Hill48 quadratic yield function has been modified using convex combination in order to achieve accurate approximation of anisotropy at the rolling and transverse direction.
