Fracture Behavior and Stress Distribution around Slot (슬롯주위 의 應力分布 와 破壞擧動 1)

  • In this paper, stress concentration factor and distribution of slotted or notched plate which is subjected to uniaxial tensile load are studied. The experimental measurements have shown the following; (1)The stress around slot or notch of slotted or notched plate which is subjected to uniaxial tensile load is state of biaxial stress, which is mainly varied to notch radius and depth. (2)The stress concentration factor around slot or notch is mainly influenced by the .sigma.$_{yy}$ , it is varied with notch radius and depth. (3)For the notched specimen, there is a notch depth where stress concentration factor is maximum. On the other hand, for the slotted specimen, stress concentration factor increases as the notch depth increases. An investigation of the relationship between fracture and stress concentration factor due to the slot or notch will be presented on the later paper, for reference.

  • Most of the loads in industrial power distribution systems are balanced and connected to three power systems. However, voltage unbalance is generated at the user's 3-phase 4-wire distribution systems with single & three phase. Voltage unbalance is mainly affected by load system rather than power system. Unbalanced voltage will draws a highly unbalanced current and results in the temperature rise and the low output characteristics at the machine. It is necessary to analyse correct voltage unbalance factor for reduction of side effects in the industrial sites. Voltage unbalance is usually defined by the maximum percent deviation of voltages from their average value, by the method of symmetric components or by the expression in a more user-friendly form which requires only the three line voltage readings. If the neutral point is moved by the unbalanced load at the 3-phase 4-wire system. Line and phase voltage unbalance leads to different results due to zero-sequence component. So that it is difficult to analyse voltage unbalance factor by the conventional analytical method, This paper presents a new analytical method for phase and line voltage unbalance factor in 4-wire systems. Two methods indicate exact results.

Integrated Volt/Var Control Algorithm based on the Distributed Load Modeling of Distribution Network (배전계통의 분포 부하 모델링을 통한 최적화 IVVC 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, a new algorithm of Integrated Volt/Var Control (IVVC) is proposed using Volt/Var control for the Distribution Automation System (DAS) based on the modeling of the distributed load and the distributed current. In the proposed, the load flow based on the modeling of the distributed load and the distributed current are estimated from constants of four terminals using the measurement of the current and power factor from a Feeder Remote Terminal Unit (FRTU). For Integrated Volt/Var Control (IVVC), the gradient method is applied to find optimal solution for tap and capacity control of OLTC (On-Load Tap Changers), SVR (Step Voltage Regulator), and SC (Shunt Condenser). What is more Volt/Var control method is proposed using moving the tie switch as well as IVVC algorithm using power utility control. In the case studies, the estimation and simulation network have been testified in Matlab Simulink.

  • Because of the different flexural rigidity between longitudinal and transverse direction, orthotropic plate theory may be suitable for describing the behavior of composite deck. The ratio of flexural rigidity between longitudinal and transverse direction affects the live load moment. Because of the ratio of flexural rigidity of concrete unfilled steel grid deck has a direct relationship with main bearing bar spacing, it is concluded that the study for the distribution factor which is effected by main bearing bar spacing and aspect ratio is needed. In this study, evaluate the live load moment of concrete unfilled steel grid deck using the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification and presents the distribution coefficient equation for concrete unfilled steel grid deck.

  • It is necessary to calculate the system's factor for reasonable operation and security enhancerrent of large scale distribution system This paper presents an effective three phase load flow calculation for distribution system unbalance evaluation. It takes into account an untranspoed transmission line, the core loss as a functioo of voltage on the serondary side of the transformer, and a generator unbalance mxle1 which is also suitable for a salient pole machine.   • The management of power factor(PF) in the distribution line is treated according to the measurement a month about the feeder unit at the substation. In Korea, we have not researched into power factor in distribution system due to it's less weight. The reactive power in advanced countries is controlled automatically by the compensative condenser switch on/off under the monitoring. This paper first presents the optimal condenser position and proper capacity by lagrangue factor ${\lambda}_{Q}$ which is the line loss index about reactive power unit. Therefore, the largest ${\lambda}_{Q}$ node is the condenser injection point and we find out the best condenser capacity when the line loss is saturated by the moderation of condenser volume. By this method, we suggest 0.6% uprising PF by injection of 15 kVA condenser. Additionally, PF is analysed into 5 areas; large city, middle city, small city, farm village, fishing village by the use of Power Platform which is classified the same concept of the low load management in KEPCO. Two feeders of each area are selected by the worst results of PF in specified areas.

  • A bridge widening technology using steel-concrete composite system was developed and is presented in this paper. The widened superstructure system consists of a newly built composite steel-concrete girder with concrete deck and steel diaphragms attached to the existing concrete girders. This method has been applied in several bridge widening projects in China, and one of those projects is presented in detail. Due to the higher stiffness-to-weight ratio and the rapid erection of composite girders, this widening method reveals benefits in both mechanical performance and construction. As only a few methods for the design of bridges with different types of girders are recommended in current design codes, a more accurate analytical method of estimating live load distribution on girder bridges was developed. In the analytical model, the effects of span length, girder pacing, diaphragms, concrete decks were considered, as well as the torsional and flexural stiffness of both composite box girders and concrete T girders. The study shows that the AASHTO LRFD specification procedures and the analytical models proposed in this paper closely approximate the live load distribution factors determined by finite element analysis. A parametric study was also conducted using the finite element method to evaluate the potential load carrying capacities of the existing concrete girders after widening.

Multi-criteria performance-based optimization of friction energy dissipation devices in RC frames

  • A computationally-efficient method for multi-criteria optimisation is developed for performance-based seismic design of friction energy dissipation dampers in RC structures. The proposed method is based on the concept of Uniform Distribution of Deformation (UDD), where the slip-load distribution along the height of the structure is gradually modified to satisfy multiple performance targets while minimising the additional loads imposed on existing structural elements and foundation. The efficiency of the method is demonstrated through optimisation of 3, 5, 10, 15 and 20-storey RC frames with friction wall dampers subjected to design representative earthquakes using single and multi-criteria optimisation scenarios. The optimum design solutions are obtained in only a few steps, while they are shown to be independent of the selected initial slip loads and convergence factor. Optimum frames satisfy all predefined design targets and exhibit up to 48% lower imposed loads compared to designs using a previously proposed slip-load distribution. It is also shown that dampers designed with optimum slip load patterns based on a set of spectrum-compatible synthetic earthquakes, on average, provide acceptable design solutions under multiple natural seismic excitations representing the design spectrum.

  • To simulate the three4imensional effect occurring near the tunnel face in a two -dimensional model, empirical load -dirtribution ratio concept is frequently used in tunnel design. In this paper, three -dimensional analysis is performed and its results are compared with those of two dimensional analysis'to investigate the applicability of the loadiistribution ratio concept. Especially, stress concentration near the tunnel face is investigated in depth. A parametric study is performed to investigate the effect of each factor on the load distribution ratio. The factors considered here include unsupported span length, initial stress, rock quality, tunnel size and the depth of tunnel location Moreover, the load -distribution ratios for the typical tunnel sections in Seoul Subway to be used in the tunnel design are suggested.

Intelligent Load Distribution of Two Cooperating Robots for Transporting of Large Flat Panel Displays

  • This paper proposes a method for the intelligent load distribution of two cooperating robots(TCRs) using fuzzy logic. The proposed scheme requires the knowledge of the robots' dynamics, which in turn depend upon the characteristics of large flat panel displays(LFPDs) carried by the TCRs. However, the dynamic properties of the LFPD are not known exactly, so that the dynamics of the robots, and hence the required Joint torque, must be calculated for nominal set of the LFPD characteristics. The force of the TCRs is an important factor in carrying the LFPD. It is divided into external force and internal force. In general, the effects of the internal force of the TCRs are not considered in performing the load distribution in terms of optimal time, but they are essential in optimal trajectory planning; if they are not taken into consideration, the optimal scheme is no longer fitting. To alleviate this deficiency, we present an algorithm for finding the internal-force (actors for the TCRs in terms of optimal time. The effectiveness of the proposed system is demonstrated by computer simulations using two three-joint planner robot manipulators.
