  • This paper proposed the technique of the fault-types classification using Adaptive Network Fuzzy Inference System in the distribution system. Fault and fault-like data in the linear RL load, arc furnace load and converter load were extracted by EMTP. These were characterized into 5 input variables and fuzzified automatically by learning. This technique was tested using another fault data unused learning.

  • It is more difficult to accurately weigh vehicles in motion than to weigh standing vehicles. The difficulties in weighing vehicles result from sensor Limitations as well as dynamic effects induced by vehicle/pavement interactions, This paper presents a method for improving the accuracy of measured axle load information using the so-called adaptive footprint tire model. The total vehicle weight as well as individual axle weight information are obtained experimentally using two piezoelectric sensors. Results are obtained for a light car, mid-site passenger car, and 2 dump trucks with known weight experimental results show that the proposed method using the tire model is accurate.

  • This paper proposed a speed adaptive control system with load torque observer and feed-forward compensation using neural network for air compressor system driven an induction motor. The motor receive impact load change under the influence of piston movement of up and down, and so it difficult to obtain good speed control characteristics. With real-time adjusting control gain estimated in neural network, control characteristics of motor is improved. The validity of the proposed system is confirmed through the theoretical analysis and computer simulation.

  • The paper intends to summarize some guidelines for future smart structure system application in military aircraft. This preview of system integration is based upon a review on approximately one and a half decades of application oriented aerospace related smart structures research. Achievements in the area of structural health monitoring, adaptive shape, adaptive load bearing devices and active vibration control have been reached, potentials have been identified, several feasibility studies have been performed and some smart technologies have been already implemented. However the realization of anticipated visions and previously initial timescales announced have been rather too optimistic. The current development shall be based on a more realistic basis including more emphasis on fundamental aircraft strength, stiffness, static and dynamic load and stability requirements of aircraft and interdisciplinary integration requirements and improvements of integrated actors, actuator systems and control systems including micro controllers.

  • In order to evaluate the seismic performance of a reinforced concrete building structure, four different analyses are carried out. Firstly, conventional pushover analysis with code-specified inverted triangular load pattern is conducted. Secondly, the pushover analysis with uniform load pattern is performed. Thirdly, adaptive pushover analyses with spectral amplification for both EC 8 artificial and Northridge earthquake are carried out. Lastly, incremental dynamic analyses under a number of scaled PGA for both EC 8 artificial and Northridge earthquake record are performed. Comparative studies demonstrate that the adaptive pushover analysis may be able to explain the response characteristics that conventional pushover analysis with fixed load distribution fails to capture.

  • This paper presents an effective control scheme with the voltage-fed half-bridge series resonant inverter for induction heating system, which is based upon a load-adaptive tuned frequency tracking control strategy using PLL(Phase Locked Loop) and its peripheral control circuits. The proposed control strategy ensures a stable operation characteristics of overall inverter system and ZVS(Zero Voltage Switching) irrespective of sensitive load parameter variations, specially in the non-magnetic materials as well as power regulation. The detail operation principle and the characteristics of inverter system with the proposed control scheme are described and its validity is verified by the simulation and the experimental results for a prototype induction cooking system rated at 1.2kW.

  • In this study, an effective load increment method for multi modal adaptive non-linear static (pushover) analysis (NSA) for building type structures is presented. In the method, lumped plastisicity approach is adopted and geometrical non-linearties (second-order effects) are included. Non-linear yield conditions of column elements and geometrical non-linearity effects between successive plastic sections are linearized. Thus, load increment needed for formation of plastic sections can be determined directly (without applying iteration or step-by-step techniques) by using linearized yield conditions. After formation of each plastic section, the higher mode effects are considered by utilizing the essentials of traditional response spectrum analysis at linearized regions between plastic sections. Changing dynamic properties due to plastification in the system are used on the calculation of modal lateral loads. Thus, the effects of stiffness changes and local mechanism at the system on lateral load distribution are included. By using the proposed method, solution can be obtained effectively for multi-mode whereby the properties change due to plastifications in the system. In the study, a new procedure for determination of modal lateral loads is also proposed. In order to evaluate the proposed method, a 20 story RC frame building is analyzed and compared with Non-linear Dynamic Analysis (NDA) results and FEMA 356 Non-linear Static Analysis (NSA) procedures using fixed loads distributions (first mode, SRSS and uniform distribution) in terms of different parameters. Second-order effects on response quantities and periods are also investigated. When the NDA results are taken as reference, it is seen that proposed method yield generally better results than all FEMA 356 procedures for all investigated response quantities.

  • Conventionally, model equation for cutting process has been used at adaptive control. But in this paper, the cutting force is discerned by piezo electric dynamometer and is controlled adaptively using fuzzy inferance so that the constant load feeding is possible. Main conclusions are as follows : (1) with proper design of fuzzy label, more active cutting force control is possible. (2) adaptive control is possible with only qualitative knowledge instead of model equation of cutting process.

  • An adaptive output feedback controller is designed for tracking control of an n-link robot manipulator with unknown load. High-gain observers with same structure as error dynamic systems are used to estimate joint velocities. The parameter adaptation is achieved by the smoothed projection algorithm. The control inputs are saturated outside a domain of interest. Simulation results on a 2-link manipulator illustrate that when the speed of the high-gain observer is sufficiently high, the proposed controller recovers the performance under state feedback control.

  • In the process control applications of self tuning control, a major concern of the control problem is to handle an offset caused by load disturbances and random steps occuring at random instance of time. Conventionally an integrator is incorperated in the forward path of the controller to eliminate such an offset. But this approach causes a difficulty if the adaptive part of the resultant controller is to be evaluated. In this paper a method of analyzing the adaptive system and improving the offset effect is suggested for a class of referance model method in the self tuning adaptive control system.
