Students experience science not only through school science lessons but also through various other channels. Science-related facilities, including science museums and centers, are important channels for informal science education. Korea has a number of governmental and private facilities in which young people can experience various aspects of scientific activities, and many of them also provide the programs supporting out-of-school science activities. However, there has been no systematic survey study on those facilities providing out-of-school activities, thus they have not been used effectively as well as their social utility is not fully realized. To this end, in 2002 researchers of this study carried out surveys (1) of the facilities supporting out-of-school science activities and (2) of science programs provided by these facilities. The surveys show that there are approximately 180 facilities supporting science activities in Korea. More than 40% of them are located in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas. Among them, the proportion of special theme science museums was the greatest (37.9%). The facilities supporting out-of-school science activities usually do not target the specific age groups but are intended for all people. The proportion of governmental facilities exceeds that of private ones. 41.8% of the facilities examined in this study run their own science activity programs. Among the 10 categories of the programs, 'science class' type programs were the most common. There were more programs for elementary and middle school students than preschoolers, high school students and adults. The contents of the programs were more related to astronomy and meteorology, the observation of living things and field trips. Despite their high practical potential, the special theme science museums were found to be lacking in relevant programs, which could fulfill their values for informal science education.
The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of work-family reconciliation of Korean nonprofit organization workers. To achieve this purpose, researchers collected data from in-depth interviews and analysed the data through qualitative case study approach that is useful to reveal the invisible phenomenon. As results, the researchers found several categories that were related to work-family reconciliation and experiences in those categories. Specifically, 'the richer-get-richer' in the category of institution, 'organizational culture is important', 'can use but also not', 'the pure value of work' in the work, 'struggling: acceptance and easing my mind' in the family and finally 'measuring and tightrope' in between the work and family. Penetrating analysis of the nature of these found three themes, 'ultimate choice, nonprofit', 'proper than the best: a tipped scale is also balanced', 'systems are living things: ever-changing'. Based on these findings, researchers suggested several policies and practical alternatives to support work-family reconciliation of NPOs and their workers in Korea.

This paper has studied the nutritional iron status of adults in the city of Taegu. The subjects of the experiment were twenty six men and women living in the city of Taegu. The iron intake was 26.1mg for men and 17.1mg for women, which were respectively 217.5% and 95% of RDA. For men heme iron was 5% and nonheme iron, 95% for women heme iron was 5.8% and nonheme iron, 94.2%. The absorption rate of dietary iron was 6.2% for men and 9.1% for women. The hemoglobin was 14.5g/dl for men and 11.9g/dl for women, and the rate of developing anemia was 8.3% in men and 57.1% in women. The serum ferritin was 57.8ng/ml with men, which was found to be normal, and 14.7ng/ml with women, which showed that 57.1% of women were in the condition of iron depletion or iron deficiency anemia. The rate of developing anemia resulting from the deficiency of serum ferritin was as high as that from the deficiency of hemoglobin. The correlation between iron intake based on the dietary record, and energy intake, vegetable protein intake and dietary fiber intake was found to be positive. So was the correlation between the iron intake, and hemoglobin, serum ferritin and urinary iron excretion. There was also a positive correlation between hemoglobin, and hematocrit and serum ferritin. The correlation between fecal iron excretion and serum ferritin was positive. Fecal iron excretion and urinary iron excretion can be complemented by iron intake but the fact should be considered that 95% of iron intake is nonheme iron, which is difficult to absorb. Based on the above-mentioned things, serum ferritin and hemoglobin can be used as the standards of measuring anemia. As women in their child bearing years show the high rate of 57.1% of developing anemia, the more thorough nutritional education of iron is required.
Research on children should be perferably made in reference with the past thinking if it is to be affirmed by the present and to predict the future. In this respect, Buddhism, which is one of the major original thinkings in the Orient as well as the most influential religion upon Koreans daily lives and attitudes, deserves to be researched in the light of education of children. In this thesis, I have made a trial to delve into the original Buddhistic scriptures to find out Buddha's outlook on home children and arrived at the following conclusions: 1. Concerning human development stages, Buddha regarded the starting point of human life from fertilization instead of birth, even at that ancient time, and the fetal life was devided into 4, 5, or 8 stages. 2. In spite of the numerous scriptures by Buddha, very little is written about children, and even these teaching did not regard the child as an independent entity. In addition, since Buddha was a person of superior enlightenment, he did not regard the age of human beings as of great importance. 3. On the relationship between parents and children, Buddha warned the extra ordinary attachment of parents toward children, because such attachment would be an obstacle in the search of truth. This idea was originated from his thought that the relationship between parents and children was not a single fixed one but of unlimited variation through numerous life times of reincarnation. This idea gives some illumination upon the problems of today's education where parent's exclusive attachment to their children and over-protection are hindrance for successful education. 4. Buddha put emphasis on parents' social duty, by which he meant that parents should care and accept not only their biological children but all children and all living things as if they were their own children. 5. Regardeding the children's role to their parents, Buddha taught that children should respect and support their parents under any condition. Buddha also emphasized that true filial piety was to help parents to improve their religious status by helping them attain the truth, morality, and wisdom. It is my intention to investigate Buddha's View tin children of entering pristhood.
This study aims to explore how elementary students perceive and approach the issue of plastic debris in marine habitats by examining students' perspectives on the ecosystem and environmental solutions. The study was conducted to 143 Grade Four elementary school students in Seoul. After implementing two class-units on plastic waste, students' constructed responses on the problem of and solutions to plastic debris in marine habitats were collected. Data were analyzed through semantic network analysis and the keywords were visualized to reflect their relationships. Furthermore, students' responses on how they perceive environmental problems were further analyzed based on the following analysis criteria: students' perspectives on the ecosystem, the level of complexity of food chain(s), and the scope of their perspective. Also, student responses on environmental solutions were classified to be either at a personal or social level. Through semantic network analysis, keywords identified for students' perceptions on the problem were the sea, plastic, debris, animals, living things, humans, extinction, while keywords extracted for the solutions were plastic, debris, recycling, disposable, and I. Based on the analysis criteria, it was found that students were well aware of the food chain concept, could perceive the ecosystem as having comprised of both biotic and abiotic factors, and could approach the problem beyond the scope of the marine environment. Also, most students mentioned the solutions only at a personal level. Based on the findings, implications on how to move forward in educating environmental issues related to the ecosystem in science education is further discussed.
The purpose of this study was intended to analyze mechanical beauty of the art style represented on the second half of the 20th century fashion. From the early 20th century, when the mechanical civilization began to develop in full scale, various distinctive styles of art began to emerge by the denial of the traditional artistic style, which is said to be an inevitable consequence fo the 20th century's spirit. That is, the diversified styles of modern art, which has developed in line with the rapid growth of civilizations, experienced environmental pollution, non-humanization and un-individualization. Those phenomena became mental anguish for artists and designers, they have come to meet with changes, by their efforts to find new way. SO, the mechanical beauty is becoming a very important factor arts. Especially, the collage of the Cubism have used as art techniques of positive mechanical beauty. And in the transition from Dada to Surrealism, the objects provided an important harmony, suggesting that all things, even those achieved by chance or presented in new associations or radical dissociations, could be said to have meaning. Pop Art that expressed daily living of spending culture in the post industrial society, scaled up the induction of mass media which was much more realistic than Dada or Surrealism. According to the results of this study, the second half of the 20th century fashion has generated mechanical beauty was examined and plundered by modern art styles. The mechanical beauty of modern art was represented in the modern fashion as the positive and negative formativeness. Above all, the best way that the fashion design should take in the future, is in the search of ways how to restore humanity that was lost due to use of machine, how t develop its merits and how to harmonized with mechanical civilization.
This paper is on the Kasaya that reveals conspicuously the religious meaning among the Korean Buddhist costumes. The Kasaya has the most special meaning among Korean costume culture. It has the most important historical value, for Buddhism is the oldest religion that begins at 4th century A.D.. It has the most unordinary shape that we could not find any other costume culture. It has very important meaning to study on the Kasaya in the religious and cultural history of Korean costume. We have to study Korean Kasaya from surveying Indian Buddhist Kasaya diachronicaly. Buddha establishes himself the rules of weaving, coloring and wearing Kasaya. Bunso costume(분소의)is the first shape of Kasaya that he has worn during his ascetic practice. Bunso costume was a kind of shari. It is made with diapers those clean ordure of baby It symbolizes the life of ascetic practice. However Buddha could not stick to it as the only costume of monks. From his age Buddhist devotees have thought Buddha and monks as sacred beings. So they eagerly want to Provide the sacred beings with foods. clothes and other things that samgha(승가) need to live and accomplish their duties. At that time there are many kings, aristocracies and rich merchants among the devotees. They often offered them the luxurious silk Kasaya. that the ascetic monks could not wear. to express their deep faith. So the rules of the samgha has been distorted. The samgha has enlarged day by day as a great huge religious association. There are many different shapes of Kasaya. The Buddhist samgha need to establish a minute and rigid rules of Kasaya to order living of monks and to teach the moral and educational life to ordinary people. That book of rule is Vinaya pitaka(율장) . There are many kinds of Vinaya pitaka. This paper surveys the rules of Kasaya from Southern Vinaya pitaka(남전율장). This study will be the basic ground to research the Korean Buddhist Kasaya.

Recently, as it is considered more important to identify the function of ail unknown genes in living things, many tools for gene prediction have been developed to identify genes in the DNA sequences. Unfortunately, most of those tools use their own schemes to represent their programs results, requiring researchers to make additional efforts to understand the result generated by them So, it is desirable to provide a standardized method of representing predicted gene information, which makes it possible to automatically produce the predicted results for a given set of gene data In this paper, we describe an effective U representation for various predicted gene information, and present an XML-based analysis tool for gene predication results based on this representation. The developed system helps users of gene prediction tools to conveniently analyze the predicted results and to automatically produce the statistical results of the prediction. To show the usefulness of the tool, we applied our programs to the results generated by GenScan and GeneID, which are widely used gene prediction systems.

Most of the existing multiped walking robots are biomimetic, i.e. they are designed to have the shapes of living things such as animals or insects. Even though those robots are familiar to us, they have some drawbacks in the view point of walking efficiency such as stability and walking speed. In this paper, we introduce a quadruped walking robot that can perform fast and stable walking by virtue of its distinctive leg positions. The proposed quadruped robot has a foreleg, a hindleg, a left leg, and a right leg. In the conventional robots, dynamic walking is needed to increase walking speed. Dynamic walking is difficult to be accomplished and is apt to be unstable. The proposed robot can move its legs in a manner that its center of gravity is always laid in the supporting polygon, so it can perform fast and stable walking without dynamic walking.

As an interest in metaverse increases, there are many studies to apply virtual reality to indirect experiences. Virtual reality is increasingly being used not only for entertainment such as games but also for educational content. A key technology of indirect experience is modeling an object to provide a realistic experience to the user. Natural environments such as tidal flats change with time, and many living things also live there. In this paper, we propose a method for creating experiential content that accurately models the ecological environment of tidal flats. The proposed method explains how to naturally model the temporal change of tidal flats. We also explain how to model a crab, a creature that inhabits the tidal flat, in the forms of an NPC using the behavior tree. Implementation results show that the proposed method uses simple algorithms but expresses the shapes of tidal flats well.
