  • This article intends to explore the formation of furniture terms with the name of furniture, furniture materials, tools, and machinery from eight furniture companies manufacturing their own different furniture items. As a result of this study, the terms can be abstracted as four things as follows. First of all, the terminology that the furniture firms is are unified over 80 percent and has no problem on the communication among the companies. Especially office furniture all is using common words because the terms are almost fixed by an administration agreement relating to the Supply Administration. Second, the furniture terms being used at the fields are mixed with Korean, English, and Japanese, and this current state shows more at small businesses than at large businesses Third, the terms of foreign words, almost English, present 48 percent as 156 words among the total 325 terms. Japanese shows 6 percent as 21 terms but it tends to be handed down from mouth to mouth with inaccurate conditions. Finally, the formation of the terms are from the original words or English, from the combination of Korean and foreign words for convenience at the fields, and from being created as Korean newly in considering Korea's special situation.

  • The astronomical data obtained by observations of celestial objects movements are useful in our daily life. These data - such as 1) sunrise and sunset data, 2) data transformation between lunar calendar and solar calendar, 3) solar eclipse and lunar eclipse data, and 4) sun's altitude and azimuth data - were used to important things in the agricultural society and ancient kingdom. In the modern society, these data have been used continuously for the legal disputes, construction of buildings and the other areas. This is a good example of pure science data using directly in our life. However there are difficulties to public service because all the data were printed as an Almanac. Using MySQL, we constructed web-based service system which makes to use them easily. This database system was made for the quick search using the calculated orbital data of celestial bodies.

  • The purpose of this study was to find possible solutions to the aged-related problem that is emerging as one of serious social issues in Korea by investigating the images young people have toward the aged. The questionnaire-based survey for this study was conducted with 643 middle school students representing teens and 523 undergraduates representing young people in the twenties, who were 592 from Daegu and 574 from Gwangju. It was carried out from December 2000 to March 2001. The data were analyzed in frequency(N), percentage(%), mean(M) and standard deviation(SD) through the SPSSWIN 10.0 program, $x^2-test$ and reliability test. The findings are summarized as follows. 52.5% of respondents reported that they had the experience in living together with their grandparents, while the number of respondents currently living together with their parents just accounted for 17.6%. In the question about the sense of value for family life, it was shown that the traditional idea that an eldest son or other son has the duty of supporting parents was positively changed to one that any of sons or daughters may support parents. The entire image toward the aged appeared to be positive with the mean value of 3.62. Things associated with the aged were the respect-for-aged house and a stick in that order. The images young people perceive towards the aged were largely divided into the 13 items image including the community centers for the aged.

  • This paper is implementation of cellular automata neural network system using evolving hardware concept. This system is a living creatures'brain based on artificial life techniques. Cellular automata neural network system is based on the development and the evolution, in other words, it is modeled on the ontogeny and phylogney of natural living things. The phylogenetic mechanism are fundamentally non-deterministic, with the mutation and recombination rate providing a major source of diversity. Ontogeny is deterministic and local physics. Cellular automata is developed from initial cells, and evaluated in given environment. And genetic algorithms take a part in adaptation process. In this paper we implement this system using evolving hardware concept. Evolving hardware is reconfigurable hardware whose configuration si under the control of an evolutionary algorithm. We design genetic algorithm process for evolutionary algorithm and cells in cellular automata neural network for the construction of reconfigurable system. The effectiveness of the proposed system if verified by applying it to Exclusive-OR.

The results of the study were as follows. First, embroidered norigae has handcrafted decoration. it was made by being sewed for women longing for their family's happiness. Embroidered norigae is a dress worn by women that is hung on a coat string or the waist part of a skirt. Second, it is eco-environmental. Embroidered norigae applied things seen in nature such as flowers, butterflies and bees to its pattern. Third, it has practicality. Embroidered norigae has high practical value besides a decorative function. Needle case norigae and incense case norigae provide functions in accordance with women's wisdom and skill as well as practicality. Fourth, it is praying for good luck. Women embroidered patterns symbolizing their desires in life such as their family's happiness, wealth, many sons and a long life. Fifth, it has balance and harmony. The knot of embroidered norigae has a perfect symmetry in the front/back part and in the right/left part. And the main body and tassel are symetrical in the right/left part, which gives stability and comfortableness. Embroidered norigae is classified into knot, main body and decorative part in its form. The three kinds express their unique beauty by being harmonized together. Finally, it has a property of melody. Movement of the tassel has a property of melody shaken by the wind and movement of its wearer.

  • The purpose of this study was aimed to compare the lexical access and representation of semantic system in the bilinguals. The participants(late Korean-English bilinguals) performed the word-picture matching task. The task was to decide whether the pictures presented after the words(basic-level categories) represent the Korean(L1) or English(L2) words' meaning or not. The stimuli were consisted of common object belonged to four different categories(animal, part of body, clothes, tool). To control the translation strategies, the SOA(stimulus onset asynchrony) were manipulated as 650ms(Exp. 1) and 200ms(Exp. 2). In both experiment, the RTs were faster in L1 condition. The decision time of the part of body categories were shorter than the animal in L1 condition. In L2 condition, clothes were responded faster than the tools. The differences of the lexical access time implied that the bilingual semantic system seemed to be structured by more sub-level categories than the super-level, living or non-living things, and the ways to access the bilingual lexicon might be differentiated according to the languages.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of increased debt on the incidence of domestic violence over the two-year interval 2014-2016. To investigate Korean low-income households with economic hardships, we analyzed the 9th and the 11th waves of the Korea Welfare Panel Study, which is jointly sponsored by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs and the Institute of Social welfare, Seoul National University. The study analysis was based on data from 2,786 households with less than 60% of median income. The main study findings are as follows. First, increases in economic hardships incur domestic violence for low-income households, while increases in low-interest debt decrease the incidence of the domestic violence when controlling for economic hardships. All other things being equal, economic hardship works as a stressor and low-interest debt works as an alleviator influencing domestic violence. Second, when low-income households are experiencing economic hardships, low-interest debt fails to work as an alleviator. Under this circumstance, high-interest debt actually acts as a stressor influencing domestic violence. Thus, we can speculate that use of debt under economic hardships will occur domestic violence for low-income households. This study differs from previous studies in that it examines the effect of increase in debt on the incidence of the domestic violence across different types of debt: low interest, high interest, and credit card. We can conclude that debt can function as a stressor or an alleviator for low-income households, depending on the interest rate and the households' financial situation.

  • One of the things that should be done first in establishing the cosmic life culture is to reflect on the old human-oriented culture. If the cosmic life culture absolutizes everything except for humans according to the logic of reason, its foundation will weaken or eventually get lost. Separating humans from the universe is just like separating life from it. Given that all life, whether it is humans or the earth, originated from the universe, such an effort for separation merely values an individual life by excluding all life or whole life. When the human body and the cosmic chi' blood are not in an active flow, it means there is a problem with life. What is in the greatest need in such a case is the sincere human mind that follows the principle of cosmic life. It is like the sincerity found in the pasonri singer, who mellows all the hardships and difficulties in the world out and create songs out of them like the shadow. It is the pansori singer's shadow that changes the universe. It is only when the extreme force of human mind communicates with that of the universe that the cosmic life or cosmic life culture can be created. In that sense, it is urgent to create life out of the universe inside me and create a universe out of all life in and outside me. It is such a grave plan in human history in that it involves finding the "Sanal" which is the core of life living hidden inside the body whose life force gradually goes away or inside the universe, and creating the culture of Bokseung in which it bursts out. The most important thing in life is the flow, and the mankind is currently standing in the life flow of the massive universe's chaosmos. The greatest task the mankind is currently faced with is to think over how to deal with the period of Big Chaos in the massive universe's chaosmos reversely and establish the cosmic life culture anew.

  • Mt. Umyeon is a low-altitude mountain near a residential area, and the actual forest area is not large due to the fact that development for use as a living green space is being completed and in progress across the mountain, so the buffering action for landslides was weak. The unit was located at the top of Mt. Umyeon, and there were reports of contents related to the military unit in some accident areas. Some experts suggested that the landslide that started on the cut side of the unit could be one of the causes of the landslide at Mt. Umyeon. It is presumed that there was a sudden collapse of trees that had fallen due to erosion inside the valley. In the case of the Umyeon landslide, localized torrential rain is the biggest cause, but the fact that it suffered a lot of damage is the result of no preemptive measures. In particular, it can be said that the damage was caused by the concentration of residential and commercial facilities due to the unplanned urban expansion without prior review of the feng shui geography of settlement areas. The important lesson we have learned is that we should recognize nature as living things and live in harmony and coexistence between humans and nature through understanding and cooperation. Adapting to changes in the environment can survive, but if it doesn't, it will be slaughtered. As such, geography influences changes in feng shui. Changes in feng shui have a profound effect on not only humans but also the natural ecosystem.
