  • Petri net is an effective modeling tool for concurrent systems. Liveness problem is one of analysis problems in Petri net theory verifying whether the system is free from any local deadlocks. It is well known that computational complexity of liveness problem of general Petri net is deterministic exponential space. Some subclasses, such as marked graph and free choice net, are suggested where liveness problem is verified in less complexity. This paper studies liveness of siphon containing circuit (SCC) net. Liveness condition based on algebraic inequalities is shown. Then polynomial time decidability of liveness of SCC net is derived, if the given net is known to be an SCC net a priori.

  • This paper presents a margin-based face liveness detection method with behavioral confirmation to prevent spoofing attacks using deep learning techniques. The proposed method provides a possibility to prevent biometric person authentication systems from replay and printed spoofing attacks. For this work, a set of real face images and fake face images was collected and a face liveness detection model is trained on the constructed dataset. Traditional face liveness detection methods exploit the face image covering only the face regions of the human head image. However, outside of this region of interest (ROI) might include useful features such as phone edges and fingers. The proposed face liveness detection method was experimentally tested on the author's own dataset. Collected databases are trained and experimental results show that the trained model distinguishes real face images and fake images correctly.

  • A Leader is a Coordinator that supports a set of processes to cooperate a given task. This concept is used in several domains such as distributed systems, parallelism and cooperative support for cooperative work. In completely asynchronous systems, there is no solution for the election problem satisfying both of safety and liveness properties in asynchronous distributed systems. Therefore, to solve the election problem in those systems, one property should be weaker than the other property. If an election algorithm strengthens the safety property in sacrifice of liveness property, it would not nearly progress. But on the contrary, an election algorithm strengthening the liveness property in sacrifice of the safety property would have the high probability of violating the safety property. In this paper, we presents a safety strengthened Leader Election protocol with an unreliable failure detector and analyses it in terms of safety and liveness properties in asynchronous distributed systems.

  • Colored Petri net model which is a model of discrete event systems is considered in this work. A supervisory controller which enforces reversibility and liveness simultaneously is presented. Furthermore, the algorithms, written by pseudo-code, are presented for the supervisory controller design. A program is developed to implement these algorithms.

  • Beyond free choice net system this paper presents some liveness knowledge in asymmetric net system including necessary and sufficient condition for an asymmetric net system being live and having liveness monotonicity, and an algorithm, polynomial time complexity, for such deciding. Also two conjectures about system livenss are in the contribution.

  • With the growing use of fingerprint authentication systems in recent years, the fake fingerprint detection is becoming more and more important. This paper mainly proposes a method for fake fingerprint detection based on CNN, it will visualize the distinctive part of detected fingerprint which provides a deeper insight in CNN model. After the preprocessing part using fingerprint segmentation, the pretrained CNN model is used for detecting the liveness detection. Not only a liveness detection but also feature analysis about the live fingerprint and fake fingerprint are provided after classifying which materials are used for making the fake fingerprint. Our system is evaluated on three databases in LivDet2013, which compromise almost 6500 live fingerprint images and 6000 fake fingerprint images in total. The proposed method achieves 3.1% ACE value about the liveness detection and achieves 79.58% accuracy on LiveDet2013.

  • This paper presents an implementation of model checking tool for LTS process specification, which checks deadlock, livelock and reachability for the state and action. The implemented formal checker using modal mu-calculus is able to verify whether properties expressed in modal logic are true on specifications. We prove experimentally that it is powerful to check, safety and liveness for the state and action on LTS. The tool is implemented by $C^{++}$ language and runs on IBM PC under Windows NT.

  • The case of Dance Chang-jak-san-shil, a dance performance support project linked to digital media, was analyzed from the perspective of liveness. The purpose was to examine the limitations of the liveness and to suggest ways to overcome them. The research case was focused on the factors of the time and space and audience (the sharing of field and acceptance experience) of the creative production room that supports works based on the creativity of dance performances. As a result, active SNS for accessibility of performing arts, expansion of access to art through the use of teaching media of art education through archiving, multi-dimensional access and provision for inducing audience participation and creative appreciation in one-way digital media transmission, provision of copyright protection devices, and audience to enter offline. As a long-term strategy for the future of the performing arts field, I would like to present the need for a change in the communication with the audience and experimental works that combine art and technology.

Abstract In applying CTL-based model checking approach to correctness verification of large state transition system specifications, the major obstacle is the combinational explosion of the state space arising due to interaction of many loosely coupled parallel processes. If, however, the modal mu-calculus viewed as a CTL-based logic with recursion, is used to specify the safety and liveness property of a given system, it is possible to resolve this problem. In this paper, we discuss the problem of verifying communication protocol system specified in LTS, and prove that a logic expression specifying safety and liveness in modal mu-calculus is semantically identical to the maximum value of the expression in CTL. This relation is verified by the proof that the sets of states satisfying the two logic expressions are equivalent. The proof can be used as a theoretical basis for verifying safety and liveness of communication protocols represented as I/O FSM model.
