Live data in physical memory can be acquired by live forensics but not by harddisk file-system analysis. Therefore, in case of forensic investigation, live forensics is widely used these days. But, existing live forensic methods, that use command line tools in live system, have many weaknesses; for instance, it is not easy to re-analyze and results can be modified by malicious code. For these reasons, in this paper we explain the Windows kernel architecture and how to analyze physical memory dump files to complement weaknesses of traditional live forensics. And then, we design and implement the Physical Memory Dump Explorer, and prove the effectiveness of our tool through test results.

The increases in UAVs(Unman Aerial Vehicle) such as drone result in safety issues and the threat of illegal drone as well. Recognizing the need for Drone forensics, domestic and foreign organizations and agencies are trying to establish drone forensic guidelines. The definition of Drone forensic artifacts and examination of forensic tools must be provided, in order to establish a practical drone forensic framework on security sites and also the concept of drone live forensic which provides meaningful data that can be extracted in a live state. In this study, the drone forensic methodology covering various types of drones is explained, and the practical forensic methodology with live forensic PoC(Proof Of Concept) tools; LiPFo(Live-PX4-Forenensic) is proposed.
There was a large scale of DDoS(Distributed Denial of Service) attacks mostly targeted at Korean government web sites and cooperations's on March 4, 2010(3.4 DDoS attack) after 7.7 DDoS on July 7, 2009. In these days, anyone can create zombie PCs to attack someone's website with malware development toolkits and farther more improve their knowledge of hacking skills as well as toolkits because it has become easier to obtain these toolkits on line, For that trend, it has been difficult for computer security specialists to counteract DDoS attacks. In this paper, we will introduce an essential control list to prevent malware infection with live forensics techniques after analysis of monitoring network systems and PCs. Hopefully our suggestion of how to coordinate a security monitoring system in this paper will give a good guideline for cooperations who try to build their new systems or to secure their existing systems.

An area presenting new opportunities for both legitimate business, as well as criminal organizations, is Cloud computing. This work gives a strong background in current digital forensic science, as well as a basic understanding of the goal of Law Enforcement when conducting digital forensic investigations. These concepts are then applied to digital forensic investigation of cloud environments in both theory and practice, and supplemented with current literature on the subject. Finally, legal challenges with digital forensic investigations in cloud environments are discussed.
Alternate Data Streams (ADS) in NTFS originally has developed to provide compatibility with Macintosh Hierarchical File System. However, it is being used by the malware writers in order to support hiding malwares or data for the purpose of anti-forensics. Therefore identifying if hidden ADSs exist and extracting them became one of the most important component in computer forensics. This paper proposes a method to detect ADSs using MFT information. Experiment reveals that proposed method is better in performance and detection rate then others. This method supports not only identification of ADSs which are being used by the operating systems but also investigation of both live systems and evidence images. Therefore it is appropriate for using forensic purpose.
Nowadays, there exist many forensic tools in forensic investigation. For common investigator it may cause some difficulty in handling the existing forensic tools. In case of urgent condition, if it takes long time to get the useful evidence from data, then it makes the investigation process difficult. Thus, the common investigator can collect the evidence easily by simple clicking the mouse. The only thing he needs is a tool for examination before investigating in details. Therefore, in this paper we refer to useful information in the forensic investigation, discuss the design and the implementation of tool.

As the storage market has been expanded due to growing data size, the research on various kinds of storages such as cloud, USB, and external HDD(Hard Disk Drive) has been conducted in digital forensic aspects. NAS(Network-Attached Storage) can store the data over one TB(Tera Byte) and it is well used for private storage as well as for enterprise, but there is almost no research on NAS. This paper selects three NAS products that has the highest market share in domestic and foreign market, and suggests the process and method for data acquisition in live NAS System.

Physical memory analysis has been an issue on a field of live forensic analysis in digital forensics until now. It is very useful to make the result of analysis more reliable, because record of user behavior and data can be founded on physical memory although process is hided. But most memory analysis focuses on windows based system. Because the diversity of target system to be analyzed rises up, it is very important to analyze physical memory based on other OS, not Windows. Mac OS X, has second market share in Operating System, is operated by loading kernel image to physical memory area. In this paper, We propose a methodology for physical memory analysis on Mac OS X using symbol information in kernel image, and acquire a process information, mounted device information, kernel information, kernel extensions(eg. KEXT) and system call entry for detecting system call hooking. In additional to the methodology, we prove that physical memory analysis is very useful though experimental study.
With the continued development of image processing technology, we live in a time when it is difficult to visually discriminate processed (or tampered) images from real images. However, as the risk of fake images being misused for crime increases, the importance of image forensic science for identifying fake images is emerging. Currently, various deep learning-based identifiers have been studied, but there are still many problems to be used in real situations. Due to the inherent characteristics of deep learning that strongly relies on given training data, it is very vulnerable to evaluating data that has never been viewed. Therefore, we try to find a way to improve generalization ability of deep learning-based fake image identifiers. First, images with various contents were added to the training dataset to resolve the over-fitting problem that the identifier can only classify real and fake images with specific contents but fails for those with other contents. Next, color spaces other than RGB were exploited. That is, fake image identification was attempted on color spaces not considered when creating fake images, such as HSV and YCbCr. Finally, dropout, which is commonly used for generalization of neural networks, was used. Through experimental results, it has been confirmed that the color space conversion to HSV is the best solution and its combination with the approach of increasing the training dataset significantly can greatly improve the accuracy and generalization ability of deep learning-based identifiers in identifying fake images that have never been seen before.
