  • Purpose: The purpose of this systematic review is to explore end-of-life (EOL) care planning and the impact of socioeconomic status (SES) among people who identify as Black or African American. Methods: The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) were used to guide and inform this systematic review process. The following academic electronic databases with publications that reflected the interdisciplinary fields related to the research objective were searched: APA PsycINFO, CINHAL, PubMed, Scopus, and Social Work Abstracts. Results: After the authors conducted the search, 14 articles (from 13 studies) ultimately met the criteria for inclusion. The results substantiated significant concerns highlighted in previous literature regarding SES and its relation to EOL planning, but also revealed an absence of original work and interventions to increase engagement in EOL planning among Black and African American populations. Conclusion: Black individuals deserve an equitable EOL experience. Researchers, practitioners, and policymakers need to move towards advocacy and action to meet this important need.

  • Purpose: Developmental disabilities (DDs) are a global childhood problem whose prevalence is rising, with a disproportionate impact on individuals in low-and middle-income countries. However, data on the prevalence of DDs in the Arab world are limited. This review highlights what is currently known about the prevalence and risk factors of DDs in preschool children in the Arab world. Methods: PubMed, Cochrane Library, Scopus, CINAHL, Science Direct, and Google Scholar were searched for publications on DDs among preschool children in the Arab world. Only 14 studies were identified in the literature, from 12 Arab countries. Results: The overall estimated prevalence of DDs among preschool children in the Arab world is 27.5%. An analysis of risk factors for DDs showed that child-related, maternal, and family-related factors account for a significant cumulative risk of developing DDs in preschool children. Maternal factors, such as antenatal and perinatal complications, were the most common risk factors. Conclusion: The prevalence of DDs among preschoolers is significantly high in the Arab world, which emphasizes the importance of the early detection and diagnosis of DD, as well as its associated risk factors.

  • Test Case Prioritization (TCP) involves the rearrangement of test cases on a prioritized basis for various services. This research work focuses on TCP in web services, as it has been a growing challenge for researchers. Web services continuously evolve and hence require reforming and re-execution of test cases to ensure the accurate working of web services. This study aims to investigate gaps, issues, and existing solutions related to test case prioritization. This study examines research publications within popular selected databases. We perform a meticulous screening of research publications and selected 65 papers through which to answer the proposed research questions. The results show that criteria-based test case prioritization techniques are reported mainly in 41 primary studies. Test case prioritization models, frameworks, and related algorithms are also reported in primary studies. In addition, there are eight issues related to TCP techniques. Among these eight issues, optimization and high effectiveness are most discussed within primary studies. This systematic review has identified that a significant proportion of primary studies are not involved in the use of statistical methods in measuring or comparing the effectiveness of TCP techniques. However, a large number of primary studies use 'Average Percentage of Faults Detected' (APFD) or extended APFD metrics to compute the performance of techniques for web services.

  • The Brazilian Federal Housing Program "Minha Casa Minha Vida" -PMCMV (My House My Life) is part of a large housing policy to eradicate the housing deficit, estimated at around five million homes in the country. The Ministry for Cities created a network of independent research organizations to evaluate the program, and the PMCMV has attracted many studies. Despite the inherent worth of these individual studies, there is a need for a holistic evaluation. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is seen as an important contribution to focus research efforts on the problems identified, to avoid the repetition of studies and to provide novel insights. This article carried out a SLR to map and quantify the types of research and represent a graphic panorama of published studies. Gap spotting was part of the study. In the five-year period from 2010-2014, the SLR identified 1489 bibliographic items. The panorama is categorised according to types of publications, and the analysis of items shows that most studies are concentrated on housing policies, financial questions, urban impacts and Brazilian social development. The results of this SLR raise some new research questions and show opportunities to reduce errors in the housing projects themselves.

  • Objectives : This study was conducted to review the research trends in Korean Medicine of pompholyx based on publications in Korea. Methods : Literature published after 2000 were collected using OASIS, NDSL, KISS, and key words searched were "한포진" "발한이상" "pompholyx" "dyshidrotic eczema". Results : 10 case reports and 4 patient studies were selected for study. Conclusions : Korean medicine treatments included acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, venesection therapy, herbal medicine, ointments and carbon arc lamp therapy. The most commonly used diagnostic method for pompholyx was inspection along with pulse diagnosis, abdominal diagnosis, tongue diagnosis, culture test, and KOH smear screening. The most frequently used treatment evaluation method was Likert scale while VAS(Visual Analog Scale) and Visual&Subjective symptoms were each used in 4 studies. Among 29 patients in 14 papers who showed clinical manifestations of pompholyx, there were 15 male patients (52%), 14 female patients (48%), and the male to female ratio showed 1.07:1. Symptoms were improved using Korean Medicine treatments including acupuncture and herbal medicine. Concurrent treatment using special treatments such as pharmacopuncture, jiyang-go, bojungikgi-tang(ex), external applications showed higher treatment effects. Korean medical treatment of pompholyx was effective in all studies, but the lack of numbers of research on Korean medicine of pompholyx was witnessed compared to other diseases such as psoriasis. Also considering the number of patients suffering from pompholyx, further studies should be conducted.

  • Background: Health-care research is a neglected discipline in Pakistan and research related to esophageal cancer (ranks 9th in Pakistani males and 5th in females) is no exception in this regard. Particularly, there are no data available to delineate the overall status of esophageal cancer epidemiological studies in Pakistan. This study describes the first ever effort to make a systematic quantification, in an attempt to provide a road-map to all stakeholders for designing appropriate epidemiological, diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Materials and Methods: International (PubMed, ISI Web of Knowledge) and local (PakMedinet) scientific databases as well as Google search engine were searched using specified keywords to extract relevant publication. Well-defined inclusion criteria were implemented to select publications for final analyses. All data were recorded by at least 3 authors and consensus data were entered into and analyzed for descriptive statistics (such as frequencies, percentages and annual growth rates) using Microsoft Excel and SPSS software. Results: A total of 79 publications fulfilled the inclusion criteria including 20 publications for which full texts were not available. Of the 79 publications, 59 (74.6%) were original/research publications, 5 (6.3%) were case reports, 4 (5.1%) were research communications, 2 (2.5%) were review articles, 1 was (1.2%) correspondence and 8 (10.1%) were undefined categories. Only 13 (<20%) cities of Pakistan contributed towards the 79 publications. On average, only 1.9 relevant publications/year were published from 1976 (year of first publication) to the present. Alarmingly, a decline in the annual growth at -4.1% was recorded in the last six years. Conclusions: Esophageal cancer research is largely unfathomed in Pakistan. Urgent/dramatic steps are required by all concerned to address this common (and under reported) cancer of Pakistan.
