가임 여성의 조기진통에 대한 예방적 자가관리 지식 측정 도구 개발: 문항반응이론 적용 (Development of Preventive Self-Management Knowledge Related to Premature Labor (PSMK-PL) Scale for Women of Childbearing Age : An Item Response Theory Approach)

  • 연구 목적: 가임 여성의 조기진통에 대한 예방적 자가관리 지식(PSMK-PL) 측정도구를 개발하는 것이다. 연구 방법: 연구절차는 1단계 개념 정의(문헌 고찰, 질적 면담), 2단계 문항개발(문항작성, 전문가 내용타당도, 가임 여성의 인지적 면담), 3단계 내용타당도와 신뢰도 검정(250명의 온라인 설문조사 자료 분석)이었다. 문항반응이론을 적용한 내용타당도는 2-모수 로지스틱 모형을 사용하였다. 내적일관성 신뢰도는 Cronbach's α (95% CI)를 확인하였다. 연구 결과: 전문가 내용타당도 검정과 인지적 인터뷰를 통해 수정한 예비 문항 30개 중 적합도, 양류상관계수, 중요도를 고려해 6개를 삭제하였다. 최종 24문항, 하부 범주는 조기진통의 위험요인(10개), 예방적 관리(8개), 조기진통의 증상과 증상관리(6개)였다. 최종 문항 난이도(-2.18~0.90), 변별도(0.80~2.90), 내적합도(0.78~1.14), 양류상관계수(0.42~0.68)는 모두 수용할 만한 수준이었다. Cronbach's α (95% CI)는 .89(.87~.91)였다. 결론: PSMK-PL 측정도구는 가임 여성의 조기진통에 대한 예방적 자가관리지식을 측정할 수 있는 검정된 척도이다.

Critical Factors Affecting the Salaries of Employees of Manufacturing Enterprises in Vietnam

  • The study aims to identify and measure factors affecting the salaries of employees in manufacturing enterprises in Hanoi, the important area of Vietnam's economy. We conducted a questionnaire consisting of 31 observation variables with a 5-point Likert scale. Independent variables were measured from 1 "without effect" to 5 "strongly". Based on the literature review and results of interviews, a total of 350 questionnaires were sent to participants; 300 of them met the standards and were subject to be analyzed. The results of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Multiple Regression Analysis (MRA) identify six main determinants influencing the salaries of employees in manufacturing enterprises in Hanoi, including Paying views of business leaders (PV), Financial ability of the enterprise (FA), Capacity of workers (CW), Capacity of the contingent of employees engaged in salary work (CC), Role of grassroots trade unions (TU), and State policies and laws on labor - salaries (STL). Based on the findings, some recommendations have been proposed to help the firm leaders design appropriate personnel policies for creating better job satisfactions for employees in the future. On this basis, the authors propose a number of recommendations to improve the salaries of employees in manufacturing enterprises in Hanoi.

중년세대의 가사노동 변화 트렌드 (Trends in the change of household labor in the middle-aged)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 생애주기 한 가운데에서 역동적인 변화를 맞이하고 있는 중년세대의 가사노동 트렌드를 분석함으로써 이들이 변화에 어떻게 대처하고 적응해나가는지 살펴보는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 주목한 중년세대는 코호트별로 베이비붐세대나 X세대를 포함하고, 연령별로는 40-50대를 중심으로 하였다. 연구방법은 문헌연구로, 기본적으로 통계청의 생활시간조사자료를 통해 가사노동시간의 추이를 분석하고, 각종 시장조사자료, 연구보고서, 신문기사 검색을 통해 가사노동 트렌드를 분석하였다. 가사노동이란 가족원에 의해 가족원을 위해 수행되는 무보수의 활동으로 시장에서 재화나 용역을 구입함으로써 대체될 수 있는 활동이다. 본 연구는 기술과 산업의 발전에 따라 급속하게 성장한 가전시장과 가사대체 상품 및 서비스가 가사노동 효율화에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지에 초점을 맞추고 중년세대의 가사노동 변화 트렌드를 살펴보았다. 기존의 세대와 다른 특징을 가진 중년세대의 가사노동 트렌드 변화를 살펴보는 것은 향후 시장동향을 예측하고 중년세대의 삶의 질 향상을 지원하는 가족정책에 대한 시사점을 도출한다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

Strategic Bundling of HRM for Organizational Performance: an Empirical Study of Publicly Listed Companies

  • Strategic bundling of Human Resource Management (HRM) practices among themselves works together as an entire HRM system rather than individual HRM practices to achieve organizational objectives. The bundles of HR practices support the effectiveness of one another assuming the effectiveness of any practice depends on other practices in place. It is said that the greater the total degree of bundling among the various components of HRM policies and practices, the more will be the organizational outcomes. Realizing these facts, this study aimed to explore the level of strategic bundling and examined the impact of such bundling on organizational performance to the publicly listed companies of Nepal. This empirical study is based on description and exploratory design for which data collected through the questionnaire based on 5-point liker scale. Total population of the study at the time of data collection are 234 organizations publicly listed in Stock Exchange of Nepal. Questionnaire is distributed to all organizations listed, response received from 105 organizations, as a unit of analysis, which is fairly good response. The study of strategic bundling of HRM practices perhaps the first study in Nepal, found that only 32 percent organizations have followed high bundling HR practices and these high bundling organizations are significantly different with low bundling organizations. Business organizations are trying to practice being close association of HRM policies and practices within them except labor relation with employee participation and business strategies. Supporting to the international literature, strategic bundling of HRM practices among themselves shows statistically significant effects on quality of product or services, labor productivity, financial performance, employee satisfaction, rate of innovation, employee commitment and market share.

Revisiting Transnational American Studies: Race and the Whale in Melville's Moby-Dick

  • Over the last three decades, the field of American Studies has increasingly paid attention to transnational approaches in an effort to diversify and expand the field's concerns beyond the narrow sense of the nation-state in today's globalizing world. Yet, the mediation of the transnational requires a careful analysis of the nation that is still in transit. In this context, this essay examines Herman Melville's novel Moby-Dick (1851) as a case study that vividly shows how reading American literature and culture through transnationalism not only offers new interpretations of canonical texts, but also helps us to better understand the historical roots and cultural contexts of contemporary issues such as global labor and migration, US citizenship and racial justice. To address the complexity of the text's circulation and reproduction, coupled with US national ideology and cultural conditions, I first turn to the canonization of Melville's Moby-Dick during the Cold War era as a national project and then explore the possibilities of transnational readings by focusing on the politics of race and global capitalism in the nineteenth century whaling industry. In doing so, I argue that critical transnationalism allows readers to keep questioning about their own understanding of race, nation, and cultural identity while remaining attentive to the destructive force of US imperialism and global capitalism in the twenty-first century.

공동주택 소방설비공사의 노무생산성 영향요인 분석 (Identifying Factors Affecting Labor Productivity for Residential Fire Protection System Installation)

  • 소방설비공사는 건축사업 현장에서는 주공종이 아닌 하위공종에 해당되며 전문건설업체들의 영세함 등으로 인해 정량적인 실적 생산성자료에 기반한 공정관리가 거의 이루어지지 않고 있는 실정이다. 공동주택 소방설비공사의 현장생산성에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인들을 도출하기 위하여 문헌연구와 전문가들과의 인터뷰 및 설문조사를 실시하여 85개의 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과, 회사의 시공능력, 층수, 기성금지급, 세대형태 등을 포함하는 36개가 중요요인으로 밝혀졌으며 골조방식, 휴일작업, 돌관공사 및 야간작업의 유무 등은 상대적으로 중요하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 응답자의 현장 위치 및 규모, 경력 등의 '일반사항'과 주요 영향요인들과의 상관성을 정량적으로 알아보기 위하여 상관관계 및 ANOVA 분석을 실시한 결과, 수도권에서 지방으로 갈수록 '회사의 시공능력'이 생산성에 중요하며 지방의 공동주택 건설현장은 본사의 지원능력과 경험이 중요한 것으로 밝혀졌으며, 수도권에서 지방으로 갈수록 '회사의 시공능력'이 생산성에 더 중요하게 영향을 미치는 경향이 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구의 결과는 생산성 관리를 통한 원가절감과 소방설비의 안전성을 확보하기 위한 합리적인 공정계획과 관리를 위한 기초자료가 될 것으로 기대한다.

미국 커리어 자기계발 조언과 이의 문제점 고찰 (Career Self-help Advice in the US and Its Limits)

  • 본 논문은 미국의 사례를 통해 화이트칼라 구직활동에 영향력을 미치고 있는 커리어 자기계발 조언과 이의 문제점을 고찰한다. 먼저 빈번한 해고와 불안정한 고용의 확산으로 대변되는 미국 화이트칼라 노동시장의 변화와 이와 함께 부상한 자기계발 산업을 간단히 고찰한다. 다음으로 문헌연구를 통해 미국 화이트칼라 구직과정에서 접할 수 있는 대표적 자기 계발 조언을 살펴본다. 이는 정보통신기술의 발달이 구직과정에도 큰 영향을 미치는 점을 고려하여 이러한 기술의 활용을 포함하여 이력서와 네트워킹에 관한 조언을 중심으로 고찰한다. 마지막으로 커리어 자기계발 조언의 영향력에 비추어 이의 문제점들, 특히 개인의 부단한 노력만을 강조하며 이에 취업과 그 결과를 개인의 책임으로 돌리고 있음을 살펴한다.

Does Bribery Sand the Wheels? New Evidence from Small and Medium Firms in Vietnam

  • This research aims to revisit the hypothesis that bribery hurts firm performance in the context of a perceptibly corrupt country. Specifically, we use micro-data from Vietnamese small and medium firm surveys in 2013 and 2015 to examine whether bribery impedes firm revenue growth and labor productivity growth. An issue arising in this type of research is the potential endogeneity between firm bribing behaviors and firm performance. To go around the issue, we follow the literature to instrument bribery variable with the average probability of bribery in other provinces. We further employ the Analysis of Variance technique (ANOVA) to unveil if the effect of bribery is dependent on bribing purposes. The regression results show that firm performance is significantly influenced by firm size, firm age and firm bribing behavior. Larger firms are more likely to grow faster while firm performance tends to be negatively related to firm age. Particularly, we find that bribery significantly impedes firm revenue growth and labor productivity growth. The analysis of variance shows that the effect of bribery on firm performance may vary across bribing purposes. Our findings, therefore, support the sand-the-wheels hypothesis that bribery hurts firm performance even in a highly corrupt business environment.

환경정책과 지역경제 : 상반관계 vs. 보완관계 (Environment Policy and Regional Economic Growth: Conflicting vs. Complementing)

  • It is generally believed that there is a trade-off between economic growth and environmental quality since pollutants are generated in the process of production and consumption of commodities. Several researchers have shown this prevailing belief using the short-term input-output models. The literature, however, shows that there have been few attempts to investigate the relationship using long-term forecasting models. This motivates the current paper. This paper attempts to build a reginal growth model in a partial equilibrium framework taking into consideration the requirements of capital invested for pollutant abatement. Model is largely neoclassical. Labor is assumed to move a region with high utility specified in regional per capita average was income and pollution level while capital is partially mobile to a region with high returns. The regional growth is explored in a phase diagram. The paper shows that there are two stable growth equilibria which a region can converge over time and that the equilibria are distinguished by the initial threshold capital stock that a region holds. If the initial capital stock of a region is over(under) than the threshold size, the region converges to the higher (lower) growth equilibrium over time. Moreover, based on this result an environmental quality enhancing policy is analyzed in the phase diagram. It has revealed that the policy calls for the relocation of growth equilibrium points, specifically speaking, it stimulates an increase in labor stock and a decrease in capital stock. Hence the paper has suggested that the prevailing belief which the environmental policy negatively impacts on a regional economic growth is not always true.

미얀마 봉제기업의 고용관계 변화: 세인정권기간 한국투자기업의 경우 (The Change of Employment Relations in Myanmar's Garment Companies: A Case of Korean Investment Companies in a Period of U Thein Sein Government)

  • This study is to examine the transition of employment relations depending on labor reform by U Thein Sein Government(2011~2015) in company level and implemented literature review and interview. The results of this study are as follow. According to contents of the legislative amendment pursued by U Thein Sein government, there were some changes in employment relations as the use of standard labor contract, the application of paid holidays, easy use of vacations/sick leave and the establishment of trade unions. But, after the adoption of the minimum wage system, there was not change in the employment relations to such an extent as to have a significant impact on the live of the laborers. So it is expected that development of the trade union representing laborers in the future is able to take mutually beneficial employment relations.
