Constance Fenimore Woolson is among those whom scholars have for long been trying to rediscover and add to the list of representative American writers. The primary methodology has been regionalism, based on the fact that most of her work portrays remote, exotic regions in and out of America. Still, Woolson remains obscure to general readers as well as literary critics outside a small circle of her scholarship. This essay attributes that obscurity to Woolson scholars' blind reliance on regionalism's nationalistic assumption in reading Woolson's multifaceted writing, and proposes to explore her nationally and regionally displacing view of the rigidly stereotypical and ideologically biased binary opposition between the center and the margin in postbellum America. The essay takes as an example the only story by Woolson that has never been reprinted or anthologized until very recently, "In Sloane Street," and examines why it resists the scholarly endeavor to regional categorization. The examination especially focuses on how the story exposes the Americanizing conceptualization of the region and its limits. The essay concludes with an attention to the story's ending where Woolson abruptly yet deliberately introduces a form of almanac as the main character Gertrude's mode of daily record. The attention to that uniquely hybrid genre in the American literary tradition, which encompasses the public and the private, the universal and the local, sheds light on Woolson's authorial intention to deconstruct the Manichean view of literary regionalism.

One of the famous Korean verses, Sijo 'In hemp clothes in winter(삼동에 베옷 입고)' is in thirty kinds of anthologies and ten kinds of Chinese writings. The major point in literary transmission of this work was the writer. The writer of this verse is Cho Sik(조식) in most anthologies. The writer of this work is recorded as Kil Jae(길재), Kim In-hoo(김인후), Kim Eung-jung(김응정), Lee Mong-gyu(이몽규) or Kim Ryung(김령) in Chinese writings. These people were famous for their studies and virtue, but they did not take office and retired from the world until they die. They were faithful to their principles serving their kings, though the country had wanted them to take a position in the government. Even though they did not in government service, they left some anecdotes and stories of lamentation after hearing their king's death. Because these stories and anecdotes can be easily connected with 'In hemp clothes in winter' which is about mourning over death of a king, they were known as the writer of this poem. Especially, their offsprings, juniors and followers often wrote these people as the writer of this work to represent their honor. Throughout the studies of several literary documents, this poem is written by Kim Eung-Jung, who lived in Kangjin(강진) in Jeonla province(전라도) and did not take office in all his life. He made this poem when he had heard the King Myoungjong(명종)'s death. Various transmission of literary documents with the records about 'In hemp clothes in winter' have a significance that can show the aspects of noble men's acceptance and transmission of Sijo.

This article reviewed ‘Gojangsijoseonju(고장시조선주)' which was written by Gojeong-ok(.고정옥), a scholar of Korean literature. and showed the features and importance in the history of Korean literature. Gojeong-ok was not properly studied in the history of Korean literature for the time being because he went to North Korea during the Korean war. Even for the researcher on Korean literature.' the literary works of Gojeong-ok were not introduced properly. However, the systematic studies on Gojeong-ok and his literary works should be done, and should be well appreciate his work in the history of the research for Korean literature by his achievements. This article considered his literary achievement through his book, 'Gojangsijoseonju'. 'Jangsijo(장시조), that was named by Gojeong-ok for 'Saseolsijo(사설시조), stood in highly important position to explain the history of literarature in late period of Chosun(조선) Dynasty. He tried the analysis on the fifty (50) selected 'Saseolsijo' and made commentaries on them in his book. And he suggested the original and creative theory on 'Saseolsijo' at the time of the book published. This article considered his understandings on the poems of classical literature, revealed in his literary works, and especially, the features on the theory for the 'Jangsijo'. Through this process, it could be clearly understand his views on literary works in itself. By considering the analysis of literature that was introduced with the commentaries, it could be seen the aspects of the specific analysis on each literature. Through these works, it could be looked forward to getting more detailed investigating clue on the view of Gojeong-ok for the poems of classical literature.

Purpose - This study was conducted to evaluate service quality, perceived value, and satisfaction in the performing arts in order to establish a system of relationships that predicts repurchase intention, which increasingly needs to be studied as the domestic performing arts market grows. Research design, data, and methodology - Another purpose of this study is to identify 'work-related factors' and 'performing-arts-related factors' in the performing arts industry, and to observe the influence of the core SQ factors expected to influence audiences' purchase intentions through perceived value and customer satisfaction. The empirical study to test the hypothesis was based on a review of the literature and employed the survey method; data were collected from a total of 500 audience members. Results - The major results of the analysis are as follows. First, in terms of quality factors affecting perceived value, literary quality, level, professionalism, and musical quality were shown to have a significant influence as key factors from the performing arts perspective, while reliability, convenience, and related costs were indicated to exert a significant influence as additional factors related to work. Secondly, the quality factors with a significant influence on customer satisfaction were literary quality, professionalism, and musical quality, which were shown to have a significant influence from the performing arts perspective, while only reliability was indicated to exert a significant influence on work-related factors. Third, perceived value was shown to have a strong positive (+) influence on customer satisfaction, with both perceived value and customer satisfaction exerting a significant influence on the revisit intention. Finally, according to the results a difference analysis with demographic variables, viewing variables as moderating variables, differences according to gender were indicated in the influence of literary value and lel on perceived value, and in the influence of convenience and professionalism on customer satisfaction as well. Also, in terms of the influence of perceived value on customer satisfaction, males were found to be more influenced than females. Conclusions - Based on the above results, the suggested implications of the present study are as follows. First, through the consideration of not only the crucial work perspective in performing arts services, which has been inadequate in the past, but the additional performance-related level, the previously unevenly distributed viewpoints were expanded for application. Second, in verifying the relationship between expanded quality factors and the factors that determine consumer behavior while simultaneously considering key factors and additional related factors, work-related service quality factors were shown to exert a stronger influence on perceived value and customer satisfaction than performance-related factors. Third, for service factors related to performance, the reliability factor exerts an influence on perceived value and customer satisfaction, requiring that a performance planner secure and manage diverse channels to immediately support customer requests in providing performance theater services.

The study is a hypothetical one about how to cut out a single emotion and activate it positively. The study could be used to treat literary therapy through AI. In this study, Hwang Jin-yi's Sijo "Long and Long Night of Winter Solstice Month" was studied. Because this work is very appropriate for the study of emotional cutting and interlinking. This counting method of treatment was used in this Sijo. Hwang Jin-yi's work cuts out "Long and Long Night of Winter Solstice Month" from the beginning. And they dream of regenerating their emotions by putting the time of their cut-off under the 'blanket of the spring breeze.' And in the end, the time of yearning unfolds to infinity, very finely. The extended hours of longing were added to the 'blanket of the spring breeze.' Spread out the times of yearning, it dreams of eternal love, the yearning for everlasting love. These literary acts are expected to lead to many changes in the human nervous system. This is the method of love that dreams of healing emotions in literature. Lover was left but not sent, lover's love amplifies feelings of joy. This method of emotional counting is believed to be very useful in the upcoming literary treatment by AI.

By taking an ecological approach, The purpose of this thesis was to 1. analyze the existing literary work about design directives for the elderly housing. 2. case study about actual housing conditions of elderly people, 3. grasp the level of satisfaction and level of requirement about housing environment by Korean elderly, 4. by integrating the above three, provide foundational data arranging the appropriate housing design directives pertaining to Korea's actual circumstances. The major findings in this study were surmmarized as follows. (1) From the six literary works, 27 items as Microsystem, 1,249 items as Mesosystem, and 330 items as Exosystem were founded and there was no evidence of directives for Macrosystem. (2) As a result of the case study, there appeared a substantial difference between actual conditions of housing environment for the Korean elderly and the design directives perceived in the literary works. (3) The level of satisfaction and for the Korean elderly housing environment were founded differently in each directives. (4) By ecological approach for the Korean elderly housing environment design directives as follows. In microsystem (13 items) in mesosystem(83 items), in exosystem(24 items), in macrosystem(15 items), 135 items in total were suggested as design directives for Korean Elderly housing environment.

This paper explores the political significance of a literary work, the hidden side beneath the ideology of founding America in Lydia Maria Child's Hobomok which reconstructs the history of the colonial period. The ideological strategy of founding America on racial discrimination is given a repeated representation in 19th-century American novels. Most works shed a negative light on Native Americans, whereas Hobomok stands out by presenting a positive picture of a miscegenation between a Native American man and a white woman, the acculturation of a half Indian into the white society. Furthermore, Child undoes distorted stereotypes about native Americans, exposing the Puritans' intolerant and exclusive attitudes and criticizing men who forced women to be obedient for the cause of nation and religion. However, Child also shows that she could not be free from the ideology of founding America which insisted on the superiority of the white's racial identity and excluded the Native Americans as beings who were destined to vanish gradually but eventually. Although Hobomok revises stereotypical representation of Native Americans as the other, it also serves for a political purpose, showing a politically inseparable relationship between literary works and the ideology of founding America.

The difference between presentation of cities in the European modern drama and its counterpart the American modern drama denotes and comes from two very different images of cities. While the European modern drama presented cities that were desolate and fantastic to certain measure, the American modern drama presented the images of actual cities that can be identified by the spectators and readers. Although one cannot 'actually' identify any actual representation of cities in both the European and the American dramas, the images of cities can be discerned in the dialogues of the characters in the plays themselves. In this perspective the images of cities that are represented in any work of modern drama are actually represented through metaphors and connotations. The images in this instance rests and can only be identified within the boundaries of psychology. The dialogues are means through which the author communicates with the spectators. Because drama is above all categorized as being a work of text before representation, deciphering drama also falls in to same cadre as any other literary texts. Through the means of 'decontextualisation' the reader/spectator identifies with the associated images that the text proposes.

Ji Cheng's great work on garden design, the 'Yuanye'(Craft of garden), written in 1631 and originally published in 1634 is the first surviving manual on landscape gardening in the Chinese tradition. This study aims at investigating not only Ji Cheng's life, achievements companionship and design activities, but also the xylographic copies, literary style, and framework of Yuanye in their historical context in order to provide the bases for further study, Ji Cheng was exellent in poetry and painting. And he constructed Dongdiyuan in Changzhou around 1623, Wuyuan in Yiaheng in 1631, and Yingyuan in Yangzhou around 1634 But no poems, paintings, and gardens designed by hi shill exist Therefore his design phi philosophy is able to be interpreted only by his work, Yuanye. After publishing, Yuanye fell into obscurity for several centuries in Chlna. It was redescovered and reprinted for the first time in 1931. Yuanye is composed of prefaces and main text The main text is divided into 'the Theory of Construction' and 'on Gardens', and the latter also into 10 sections. In this text Ji Cheng explains the aesthetic principles underlying garden design and the appropriate emotional response to various efftcts Especially, he emphasizes the importance of basin the garden design on the taxi ting nature and features of landscape and making use of natural scenery. The literary style of the book is highly mannered, and there are so many poetic descriptions and Ji Cheng's native Jiangsu dialects. So the translation of the original text is very difficult After this, the major design concepts of Ji Cheng's landscape gardening theory and whole network of these concepts have to be studied.

Generally people and their lives are the basic object of literary works. Although each literary work possesses a different degree of significance depending upon the author's intention the description of costume becomes an indispensable factor in the formation of characters and the social background. In this paper the types of men's and women's clothing in fashion from 1895 to 1942 are studied fior the purpose of understanding the correlation between hyo-Suk's description of the attire and the vogue of the time. Consequently it was clarified that his descriptions of costume have an analogy with the fashion during the era. Especially this study ascertains that the beauty of costume as a formative art emphasizes the altered inherited and developing traditional Korean beauty influenced by exoticism. In conclusion the aesthetic consciousness of Hyo-Suk Lee tells us clearly that the beauty of Korea is the universal beauty apprecialted regardless of place and time. Such an aestheitic consciousness is not rigid but continously transforming. his literarywork clearly shows a new aesthetic categry formed by combination of traditonal Korean beauty and the aesthetic consciousness of exoticism.
