Effect of Molecular Weight of Epoxidized Liquid Isoprene Rubber as a Processing aid on the Vulcanizate Structure of Silica Filled NR Compounds

  • In this study, epoxidized liquid isoprene rubber (E-LqIR) was used as a processing aid in a silica-filled natural rubber compound to improve the fuel efficiency, abrasion resistance, and oil migration problems of truck and bus radial tire tread. The wear resistance, fuel efficiency, and extraction resistance of the compound were evaluated according to the molecular weight of E-LqIR. Results of the evaluation showed that the E-LqIR compound had a lower chemical crosslink density than that of a treated distillate aromatic extract (TDAE) oil compound because of the sulfur consumption of E-LqIR. However, the filler-rubber interaction improved because of the reaction of E-LqIR with silica and crosslink with the base rubber by sulfur. As the molecular weight of E-LqIR increased, crosslink with sulfur was facilitated, and the filler-rubber interaction improved, resulting in improved abrasion resistance. The fuel efficiency performance of the E-LqIR compound was poorer than that of the TDAE oil compound because of the low chemical crosslink density and hysteresis loss at the free chain end of E-LqIR. However, the fuel efficiency performance improved as the molecular weight of E-LqIR increased.

Preparation and Characteristics of High Voltage Liquid Silicone Rubber by Modified Cross-linking Agent

  • There is a growing demand for a high voltage silicone rubber composite with high mechanical property and high electrical property. The effect of modified cross-linking agent on the mechanical, electrical properties, and short-circuit test performance of silicone rubber insulators have been investigated. To use base polymer, the various silicone polymers were prepared by the equilibrium polymerization. Aluminum trihydrate surface was treated by vinyl silane. Liquid silicone rubber nanocomposite was prepared from the compounding of VPMPS, HPDMS, catalyst, and alumina trihydrate modified with 1,3,5-trivinyl-l,3,5-trimethylcyclotrisiloxane. The mechanical property and electrical property for insulation materials were measured, indicating the high tensile strength and the good short-circuit property.

Effect of Vinyl Group Content of the Functionalized Liquid Butadiene Rubber as a Processing Aid on the Properties of Silica Filled Rubber Compounds

  • Liquid butadiene rubber (LqBR) is used as a processing aid and plays a vital role in the manufacture of high-performance tire tread compounds. In this study, center-functionalized LqBR (C-LqBR) was polymerized with different vinyl content via anionic polymerization. The effects of the vinyl content on the properties of the compounds were investigated by partially replacing the treated distillate aromatic extract (TDAE) oil with C-LqBR in silica-filled rubber compounds. C-LqBR compounds showed a low Payne effect and Mooney viscosity regardless of the vinyl content, because of improved silica dispersion due to the ethoxysilyl group. As the vinyl content of C-LqBR increased, the optimum cure time (t90) increased owing to a decrease in the number of allylic hydrogen. Moreover, the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the compound increased, and snow traction and abrasion resistance performance decreased, whereas wet grip improved. The energy loss characteristics revealed that the hysteresis attributed to the free chain ends of C-LqBR was dominant.

  • The properties of the mixed prepolymer-urethane in the range of 10-40 phr were observed. LBR and LCR have same functional group but different in structure of molecular. The viscosity of mixture depending on content of rubber, adhesive strength, thermal property and compatibility with a diluted solvent are as follows: 1. The viscosity of the mixture was influenced by solubility of the diluent for urethane resin and liquid rubber. 2. Adhesive strength showed the highest value at 30phr rubber, decreased gradually at above 30phr rubber. And LBR revealed better physical property than that of LCR. 3. The most effective factors affecting adhesive strength are molecular structure of rubber, the type of solvent, and volatility. 4. Urethane resin containing LBR showed better compatibility for solvent and faster drying velocity. 5. LBR showed more favorable compatibility and dispersion state than those of LCR by analyzing the results of SEM.

플라스틱 직물 코팅재료에 관한 연구 (Study on Plastic Fiber Coating Materials)

  • 섬유 코팅제로 널리 쓰이고 있는 액상 PVC는 여러 가지 특성 중 무광택 효과가 뛰어나지만 코팅된 섬유 표면의 유연성이 감소된다. 이런 결함을 대체할 수 코팅 물질로 Elastomer계열의 액상 실리콘 고무를 사용했다. 기존 액상 PVC공정과 동일하게 진행했으며, 로울러의 압축력과 공정상의 예비경화를 이용했다. 실험 결과 액상 PVC로 코팅된 직물의 경도는 70E, 인장강도는 10.3 MPa, 신율은 200%로 측정되었다. 액상 실리콘 고무로 코팅된 직물의 경도는 40도, 인장강도는 5.1 MPa, 신율은 460%,였다. 따라서 액상 실리콘 고무 코팅은 3차 가공 없이 액상 PVC 코팅보다 플라스틱 직물 표면의 무광택성과 유연성을 증가시켰다.

  • 최근 국내에서 경주지진(2016.09)과 포항지진(2017.11) 등 규모 5.0 이상의 지진이 발생하여 구조물의 내진안전성에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 특히, 인명피해나 재산손실을 유발하는 생활시설물은 더욱 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 생활시설물 중 가스와 유류 등의 저장시설물이 있으며 물을 저장하는 탱크가 대표적이다. 본 연구에서는 액체저장탱크의 내진성능향상을 위해 면진의 일종인 납고무받침(Lead Rubber Bearing)을 적용하고자 한다. 액체저장탱크의 기초를 고려하여 납고무받침을 설계하였으며, 실험체를 제작하여 압축 및 전단특성실험을 통해 납고무받침의 일반적 물성을 확인하였다. 납고무받침에 대한 내구성 실험 이후 진동대 실험 및 ANSYS를 이용한 유한요소해석을 통해 비면진 및 면진 적용에 따른 액체저장탱크의 거동을 분석하였다.

Influence of Loading Procedure of Liquid Butadiene Rubber on Properties of Silica-filled Tire Tread Compounds

  • Low molecular weight liquid butadiene rubber (LqBR) is a processing aid that can resolve the migration problem of tire tread compounds. Various studies are being conducted to replace the petroleum-based processing oil with LqBR. However, the effect of the loading time of LqBR in the compounding process on silica dispersion and vulcanizate properties is not well known. In this study, we analyzed silica dispersion, vulcanizate properties, and viscoelastic properties of silica-filled tire tread compound according to the processing aid type (TDAE oil, non-functional LqBR) and, silane terminated LqBR) and input timing. In the non-functional LqBR compounds, the 'with TESPT' mixing procedure showed excellent dynamic viscoelastic properties while silane-terminated LqBR compounds showed that the 'after TESPT' mixing procedure was good for 300% modulus and abrasion resistance.

  • 저분자량 SBR (액상 SBR)이 실리카로 보강된 SBR 배합물의 특성에 미치는 영향에 대해 연구하였다. 액상 SBR을 실리카로 보강된 SBR 배합물에 첨가하면 점도가 낮아졌다. 가교밀도는 액상 SBR의 함량이 증가함에 따라 감소하였고 가창속도는 느려졌다. 모듈러스와 인장강도는 액상 SBR의 함량이 증가할수록 낮아졌고 신율은 증가하였다. 마모 특성은 액상 SBR의 함량에 따라 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 이는 액상 SBR의 첨가에 의해 실리카 분산이 향상되었기 때문으로 여겨진다. 실험결과를 종합해 볼 때, 5 phr 이하의 적은 양의 액상 SBR을 사용하는 것이 실리카로 보강된 SBR 배합물의 특성을 향상시키는데 바람직할 것으로 판단된다.

저연기성 이액형 방염우레탄락카 백색도료 연구 (Study for Binary Liquid Type Fire Retardant White Paint of Polyurethane Lacquer)

  • 방염도료로 일액형 염화고무(Chlorinated Rubber) 백색도료가 많이 사용되고 있는데 이는 탄화시 검은 연기가 많이 발생되고 목재에 대한 표면강도와 접착력 등의 미흡한 단점이 있어 이러한 점 등을 고려한 Polyurethane Resin계(Alkyd Resin) 이액형 방염우레탄라카 백색도료를 개발하였다. 본 실험에서 개발한 목재용 Polyurethane Resin계 방염도료 조성의 물성은 기존의 방염백색도료보다 목재와의 친화력이 향상되고 다량의 연기발생은 억제하는 결과를 얻었다.
