In a COMA system, the capacity is variable and mainly depends on multiple access interference. The multiple access interference has a deep relationship with transmitted or received power. The capacity of COMA2000 system is considered to be limited by the forward link capacity. In this paper, we show that the forward link cell load can be represented by the total transmitted power of base station and we propose a forward link call admission control (CAC) strategy for COMA2000 system. The proposed call admission scheme adopts the rate control algorithm for data call. This call admission scheme enables the system to utilize radio resource dynamically by controlling data rate according to the cell load status, and enhance the system throughput and grade of service (GoS). quality of service(QoS) such as blocking and outage probability.

Due to its self-configuring nature, the tactical mobile ad hoc network is used for communications between tactical units and the command and control center (CCC) in battlefields, where communication infrastructure is not available. However, when a tactical unit moves far away from the CCC or there are geographical constraints, the data link between two communicating nodes can be broken, which results in an invalid data route from the tactical units to CCC. In order to address this problem, in this paper we propose a hierarchical connectivity maintenance scheme, namely ADLCoM (Autonomous Data Link Connectivity Maintenance). In ADLCoM, each tactical unit has one or more GW (gateway), which checks the status of data links between tactical units. If there is a possibility of link breakage, GWs request ground or aerial unmanned vehicles to become a relay for the data link. The simulation results, based on tactical scenarios, show that the proposed scheme can significantly improve the network performance with respect to data delivery ratio.

The tactical data link is a military data network to improve the ability to recognize battlefield situations. The ROK military is promoting the tactical data link performance improvement programs. Tactical data link is essential to combine and integrate various platforms, sensor data, and command and control (C2) systems. Therefore, the research on related technical fields is required. However, the tactical data link has not disclosed detailed technical information due to the characteristics of military operation. In this paper, we propose a data-based automated analysis methodology using intellectual property information to understand the technology trend of tactical data link. In this paper, data related to intellectual property is automatically collected and pre-processed, and analyzed in terms of time series. In addition, the current status of each institution of patent technology information was generated, and the process of identifying key-researchers through network analysis was presented with providing results of our approach in this paper.

Electrolytic power capacitors have been widely used in power conversion system such as inverter or UPS because of characteristics of large capacitance, high-voltage and low-cost. The electrolytic capacitor, which is most of the time affected by the aging effect, plays a very important role for the power-electronics system quality and reliability. Therefore it is important to diagnosis monitoring the condition of an electrolytic capacitor in real-time to predict the failure. In this paper, the on-line remote diagnosis monitoring system for UPS DC link electrolytic capacitors using low-cost single-chip zigbee communication modules is developed. To estimate the health status of the capacitor, the equivalent series resistor(ESR) of the component has to be determined. The capacitor ESR is estimated by using RMS computation using BPF modeling of DC link ripple voltage/current. Zigbee-based hardware experimental results show that the proposed remote capacitor diagnosis monitoring system can be applied to UPS successfully.

In this paper, an integrated voice/data packet network with window flow control is modeled by a colsed multichain queueing system, and its performance is analyzed by the mean value analysis method. Particularly, for the analysis of a packet network having various kinds of messages with different priority classes, we introduce an approach based on the mean value analysis and the concept of effective capacity. By the mathematical analysis and computer simulation, we obtain the following network statistics in the steady state: Mean buffer occupancy at each node, utilization of link throughput of a virtual channel, and mean delay time of each message. Our iterative analysis method can predict the link data status in most cases within about 10 percent of accurady, and the statistics of voice messages and external data within 5 percent as compared to simulation results.

This paper presents a CATV SMS (Status Monitoring System) using HDLC (High Level Data Link Contorl) protocol and the system implementation. The system specifications were derived from the analysis of technical status and requirement of the domestic CATV industry. For the interoperability with a global network management system in the future, HDLC protocol was adopted in the system. The system performance was improved by using the communication controller chip and the large data buffer. For reducting the communication problems induced by accumulated noise in up-stream data channels, the system was designed that the different communication channel can be assigned to each proper mass of terminal. The operating software was designed with menu driven user interface and have various functions for the convenience of users. The test result of the implemented system at the experimental network showed good performance and suitability for a coaxial CATV Status Monitoring System.

The UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) system, including the drone of a variety of fields, which has become an issue and utilized in various fields, has begun to develop in military fields and is actively developed in the commercial field. In various types of UAV systems, which have been developed recently, the communication system that is responsible for the connection between the ground control unit and the UAVs is called the data link. Especially, common data link used in military UAVs is required stability of communication to transmit surveillance and reconnaissance intelligence information and UAV's status. In this paper, the requirement for a modem was defined to secure the communication stability of the common data link used in surveillance UAVs. And, the design of the data link modem to satisfy applicable specifications was proposed. The proposed modem design was verified through the performance measurement of the implemented systems.

The current status of Canadian research on rotor-based actively controlled technologies for helicopters is reviewed in this paper. First, worldwide research in this field is overviewed to put Canadian research into context. Then, the unique hybrid control concept of Carleton University is described, along with its key element, the "stiffness control" concept. Next, the smart hybrid active rotor control system (SHARCS) projected's history and organization is presented, which aims to demonstrate the hybrid control concept in a wind tunnel test campaign. To support the activities of SHARCS, unique computational tools, novel experimental facilities and new know-how had to be developed in Canada, among them the state-of-the-art Carleton Whirl Tower facility or the ability to design and manufacture aeroelastically scaled helicopter rotors for wind tunnel testing. In the second half of the paper, details are provided on the current status of development on the three subsystems of SHARCS, i.e. that of the actively controlled tip, the actively controlled flap and the unique stiffness-control device, the active pitch link.

In this paper, the efficient AODV routing algorithm in MANET is proposed. Because transmission channel has a high error rate and loss in MANET, the number of hops can't be regarded as an absolute network metric. After measuring FER periodically at the data link layer using cross-layer design, the scheme that every node forwards the weight of link status in the reserved field of AODV protocol is used. In order to find the efficient route, we design AODV to be able to select an optimal route that has a good channel status by evaluating the sum of weight. The proposed AODV improves throughput, routing overhead and average end-to-end delay in comparison with the generic AODV.
