This paper introduces a new design for a Rotman lens that has been proposed to minimize its size and provide a suitable design for a compact beamforming system. The size reduction is realized by minimizing the length of the transition structures, which are positioned between the lens body and the connecting lines. The proposed structure is much shorter than a conventional transition structure, which is a tapered line in general. As a result, a 45% size reduction can be achieved by using the proposed transition structure, compared to a typical Rotman lens with linearly tapered lines. Therefore, the proposed Rotman lens will be suitable for compact beamforming systems.
Theoretical profiles of selected rotational lines of $C_2$ CH, CN, TiO and MgH are computed by using the current models of sunspot unbrae and penumbrae. It is found that the lines of the diatomic carbides are enhanced in penumbrae relative to umbrae, while MgH lines are more strongly enhanced in umbrae than in penumbrae and the quiet photosphere. The results are discussed with respect to selecting lines suitable for studying the structure of sunspots.
Objective: The first stage in both breeding and programs for the conservation of genetic resources are the identification of genetic diversity in the relevant population. The aim of the present study is to identify genetic diversity of six brown layer pure chicken lines (Rhode Island Red [RIRI, RIRII], Barred Rock [BARI, BARII], Columbian Rock [COL], and line 54 [L-54]) with microsatellite markers. Furthermore, the study aims to employ its findings to discuss the possibilities for the conservation and sustainable use of these lines that have been bred as closed populations for a long time. Methods: In the present study, a total number of 180 samples belonging to RIRI (n = 30), RIRII (n = 30), BARI (n = 30), BARII (n = 30), L-54 (n = 30), and COL (n = 30) lines were genotyped using 22 microsatellite loci. Microsatellite markers are extremely useful tools in the identification of genetic diversity since they are distributed throughout the eukaryotic genome in multitudes, demonstrate co-dominant inheritance and they feature a high rate of polymorphism and repeatability. Results: In this study, we found all loci to be polymorphic and identified the average number of alleles per locus to be in the range between 4.41 (BARI) and 5.45 (RIRI); the observed heterozygosity to be in the range between 0.31 (RIRII) and 0.50 (BARII); and $F_{IS}$ (inbreeding coefficient) values in the range between 0.16 (L-54) and 0.46 (RIRII). The $F_{IS}$ values obtained in this context points out to a deviation from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium due to heterozygote deficiency in six different populations. The Neighbour-Joining tree, Factorial Correspondence Analysis and STRUCTURE clustering analyzes showed that six brown layer lines were separated according to their genetic origins. Conclusion: The results obtained from the study indicate a medium level of genetic diversity, high level inbreeding in chicken lines and high level genetic differentiation between chicken lines.
We present the results of polarization observations at submillimeter wavelengths towards Monoceros R2 (Mon R2). The polarized thermal dust emission was obtained from SCUBA-2/POL-2 at 450 ㎛ and 850 ㎛, simultaneously. This observation is a part of the JCMT BISTRO survey project. The polarization angle distributions at 450 ㎛ and 850 ㎛ are similar and the mean value of angle differences at two wavelengths is 5.5 degrees. The Mon R2 is one of massive star-forming regions containing a clear hub-filamentary structure. The hub region shows star formation activities, and surrounding filaments provide channels for matters to move into the hub region. It is not well known the role of magnetic fields in a hub-filamentary structure. Some studies have shown well-ordered polarization segments along a filamentary structure and magnetic field morphology traced by polarization segments is interpreted as to help gas flow along the filamentary structrue. Our observations shows that filaments in Mon R2 have spiral structure and the magnetic field lines are parallel to the filaments. We interpret that the spiral structure can be formed by a rotation hub-filament system with gas flowing along the filaments to the hub. We found several dust clumps at the central part of the hub region of the Mon R2. They seems to be formed at locations where spiral field lines meet each other. These results show one observational example that a magnetic field play a role in gas flow.
In the areas susceptible to vibration and noise induced by railway traffic such as downtown area and stations under railway lines, the vibration and the structure-borne noise can be solved by floating slab track system separating the entire track structure from its sub-structure using anti-vibration mat or springs. In other countries, the core technologies for vibration-proof design and vibration isolator - one of key components - have been developed and many installation experiences have been accumulated. However, in Korea, since the design technology of system and components are not yet developed, the foreign systems are being introduced without any adjustment. Thus, in this study, the vibration isolator has been developed and its performance are investigated by the dynamic analysis of a station structure under railways lines and the floating slab track system. For this purpose, the loads transferred from the vibration isolator of the floating slab track were evaluated by train running simulation considering vehicle-track interaction, and then the dynamic analysis of station structure subjected to these loads was performed. The dynamic analysis results show that the proposed floating slab track can reduce the vibration of structure by about 25dB compared with that in conventional ballast track without floating system.

A moored floating structure may exhibit resonant motion responses to low-frequency excitations. Similar to the resonant responses of many vibration systems, the motion amplitude of a moored floating structure is significantly affected by the damping of the entire system. In such cases, the damping contributed by the mooring lines sometimes accounts for as much as 80% of the total damping. While the damping induced by catenary mooring lines is well-investigated, few studies have been conducted on the damping induced by taut mooring lines, especially one partly embedded in soil. The present study develops a simple but accurate model for estimating the damping contributed by mooring lines. A typical type of taut mooring line was used as the reference and the hydrodynamic drag force and soil resistance were taken into consideration. The proposed model was validated by comparing its predictions with those of a previously developed model and experimental measurements obtained by a physical model. Case studies and sensitivity studies were also conducted using the validated model. The damping induced by the soil resistance was found to be considerably smaller than the hydrodynamic damping. The superposition of the wave frequency motion on the low-frequency motion was also observed to significantly amplify the damping induced by the mooring lines.
An algorithm is presented for 3-dimensional contour lines with a hidden line removal ~technique developed by T.L. Janssen(l). Contour line algorithm on any 3-dimensional plane cutting solid body is also shown. NUFIG(2) algorithm is adopted for searching contour lines. Test problems show well-established contour lines on the surface and also on the cutting plane of the structure.

We should extract lines and data which consist of the table in order to classify the table region and analyze its structure in document image. But it is difficult to extract lines and data exactly because the lines are cut and their lengths are changed, or characters or noises are merged to the table lines. These problems result from the error of image input device or image reduction. In this paper, we propose the better method of extracting lines and data for table region classification and structure analysis than the previous ones including commercial softwares. The prposed method extracts horizontal and vertical lines which consist of the table by the use of one dimensional median filter. This filter not only eliminates the noises which attach to the line and the lines which are orthogonal to the filtering direction, but also connects the cut line of which the gap is shorter than the length of the filter tap in the process of extracting lines to the filtering direction. Furthermore, texts attached to the line are separated in the process of extracting vertical lines. This is an example of ABSTRACT format.

We use three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic simulations to investigate how the dynamic state of emerging magnetic field is related to the twist of field lines. Emergence of magnetic field is considered as one of the key physical process producing solar activity such as flares, jets, and coronal mass ejections. To understand these activities we have to know dynamic nature and electric current structure provided by emerging magnetic field. To demonstrate dynamic nature of field lines, we focus on the factors such as curvature of magnetic field line and scale height of magnetic field strength. These factors show that strong twist case forms two-part structure in which the central part is close to a force-free state while the outer marginal part is in a fairly dynamic state. For weak twist case, it still shows two-part structure but the tendency becomes weaker than strong twist case. We discuss how the curvature distribution affects the dynamic nature of emerging magnetic field. We also investigate electric current distribution provided by emerging field lines to show a possible relation between electric current structure and sigmoid observed in a preflare phase.

Presented in this paper is a procedure of developing graphical simulation software for planning robot welding processes. Welding is by far the highest application area for industrial robots, and it has been in great need of such a simulator in designing robot work cells, in justifying the economics of robot welding and in planning robotized welding operations. The model of a robot welding cell consists of four components: They are an welding structure which is a collection of plates to be welded, a positioner to hold the welding structure, a robot with a weld torch, and a set of welding lines (in case of arc welding). Welding structure is modeled by using the reference plane concept and is represented as boundary file which is widely used in solid modeling. Robot itself is modeled as a kinematic linkage system. Also included in the model are such technical constraints as weaving patterns and inclination allowances for each weld joint type. An interactive means is provided to input the welding structure and welding lines on a graphics terminal. Upon completion of input, the program displays the welding structure and welding lines and calculates the center of mass which is used in determining positioner configurations. For a given positioner and robot configuration, the welding line segments that can be covered by the robot are identified, enabling to calculate the robot weld ratio and cycle time. The program is written in FORTRAN for a VAX computer with a Tektronix 4114 graphic terminal.
