Unwanted vibration is an issue in many industrial systems, especially in nano-devices. There are many ways to compensate these unwanted vibrations based on the results of the past researches. Elastic medium and smart material etc. are effective methods to restrain unnecessary vibration. In this manuscript, dynamic analysis of viscoelastic nanosensor which is made of functionally graded (FGM) nanobeams is investigated. It is assumed that, the shaft is flexible. The system is modeled based on Timoshenko beam theory and also environmental condition, external linear varying loads and thermal loading effect are considered. The equations of motion are extracted by using energy method and Hamilton principle to describe the translational and shear deformation's behavior of the system. Governing equations of motion are extracted by supplementing Eringen's nonlocal theory. Finally vibration behavior of system especially the frequency of system is developed by implementation Semi-analytical differential transformed method (DTM). The results are validated in the researches that have been done in the past and shows good agreement with them.
A new approach using the differential quadrature method (DQM) is derived for analysis of non-uniform beams resting on nonlinear media in this study. The influence of velocity dependent viscous damping and strain rate dependent viscous damping is investigated. The results solved using the DQM have excellent agreement with the results solved using the FEM. Numerical results indicated that the DQM is valid and efficient for non-uniform beams resting on non-linear media.

A numerical analysis in linear-elastic state for prestressed concrete tanks including the time-dependent effects due to creep and shrinkage of concrete, relaxation of prestressing cable have been studied by many researchers. In this paper, not only the time dependent factor but also the nonlinear elasto-plastic behavior are considered. Prestresses are considerde in vertical and circumferential direction.
A proper physical modeling of infilled building frame-foundation beam-soil mass interaction system is needed to predict more realistic and accurate structural behavior under static vertical loading. This is achieved via finite element method considering the superstructure, foundation and soil mass as a single integral compatible structural unit. The physical modelling is achieved via use of finite element method, which requires the use of variety of isoparametric elements with different degrees of freedom. The unbounded domain of the soil mass has been discretized with coupled finite-infinite elements to achieve computational economy. The nonlinearity of soil mass plays an important role in the redistribution of forces in the superstructure. The nonlinear behaviour of the soil mass is modeled using hyperbolic model. The incremental-iterative nonlinear solution algorithm has been adopted for carrying out the nonlinear elastic interaction analysis of a two-bay two-storey infilled building frame. The frame and the infill have been considered to behave in linear elastic manner, whereas the subsoil in nonlinear elastic manner. In this paper, the computational methodology adopted for nonlinear soil-structure interaction analysis of infilled frame-foundation-soil system has been presented.

Strain localization is important phenomenon since it governs the total behavior or ultimate loads in various kinds of engineering problems. Establishment of an analysis method for strain localization phenomena is also of great concern for expansion of fracture mechanics of concrete. Inside zone of localization, a decrese in stress is accompanied by an increse in strain; outside the strain decreses. All deformation localization phenomenon cannot be predicted by both the classical stress-strain formulation and the linear elastic fracture mechanics. In this paper, a simple one dimensional model including localized deformation zone is studied under compressive and tensile loading. When the model is loaded. localization is assumed to occur uniformly in a finite region and material outside the localization zone is modelled as elastic unloading occurs. Size effects of effective elastic moduli under compression and tension in localization zone are examined.
In this article, buckling and free vibration of functionally graded (FG) nanobeams resting on elastic foundation are investigated by developing various higher order beam theories which capture shear deformation influences through the thickness of the beam without the need for shear correction factors. The elastic foundation is modeled as linear Winkler springs as well as Pasternak shear layer. The material properties of FG nanobeam are supposed to change gradually along the thickness through the Mori-Tanaka model. The small scale effect is taken into consideration based on nonlocal elasticity theory of Eringen. From Hamilton's principle, the nonlocal governing equations of motion are derived and then solved applying analytical solution. To verify the validity of the developed theories, the results of the present work are compared with those available in literature. The effects of shear deformation, elastic foundation, gradient index, nonlocal parameter and slenderness ratio on the buckling and free vibration behavior of FG nanobeams are studied.

The present paper employs nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT) to study buckling behavior of functionally graded magneto-electro-thermo-elastic (FG-METE) nanoshells under various physical fields. NSGT modeling of the nanoshell contains two size parameters, one related to nonlocal stress field and another related to strain gradients. It is considered that mechanical, thermal, electrical and magnetic loads are exerted to the nanoshell. Temperature field has uniform and linear variation in nanoshell thickness. According to a power-law function, piezo-magnetic, thermal and mechanical properties of the nanoshell are considered to be graded in thickness direction. Five coupled governing equations have been obtained by using Hamilton's principle and then solved implementing Galerkin's method. Influences of temperature field, electric voltage, magnetic potential, nonlocality, strain gradient parameter and FG material exponent on buckling loads of the FG-METE nanoshell have been studied in detail.
The parts of pile, above the soil and embedded in the soil are called the first region and second region, respectively. The forth order differential equations of both region for critical buckling load of partially embedded pile with shear deformation are obtained using the small-displacement theory and Winkler hypothesis. It is assumed that the behavior of material of the pile is linear-elastic and that axial force along the pile length and modulus of subgrade reaction for the second region to be constant. Shear effect is included in the differential equations by considering shear deformation in the second derivative of the elastic curve function. Critical buckling loads of the pile are calculated for by differential transform method (DTM) and analytical method, results are given in tables and variation of critical buckling loads corresponding to relative stiffness of the pile are presented in graphs.

Although a structural analysis based on e linear elastic theory yields good results for deformations and stresses produced by working loads, it fails to assess the teal load-carrying of the plates on the verge of yielding. In case of a limit analysis of plates, the yield line theory is widely used on the basis of the upper bound theorem and theoretically it overestimates the strength of the plate. There is, therefore, a general need for analytical methods of predicting the inelastic behavior and load-carrying capacities of plate subjected to arbitrary loadings and boundary conditions. The $\rho$-version of finite element method has been presented for determining the accurate limit load of plates. The numerical results by $\rho$-version model compares with the results obtained by the h-version software ADINA as well as with the available analytical solutions in literatures.

In order to predict inelastic displacement response without nonlinear dynamic analysis, the equal displacement rule can be used for the structures with longer natural periods than the characteristic period, $T_g$, of earthquake record. In the period range longer than $T_g$, peak displacement responses of elastic systems are equal or larger than those of inelastic systems. In the period range shorter than $T_g$, opposite trend occurs. In the equal displacement rule, it is assumed that peak displacement of inelastic system with longer natural period than $T_g$ equals to that of elastic system with same natural period. The equal displacement rule is very useful for seismic design purpose of structures with longer natural period than $T_g$. In the period range shorter than $T_g$, the peak displacement of inelastic system can be simply evaluated from the peak displacement of elastic system by using the inelastic displacement ratio, which is defined as the ratio of the peak inelastic displacement to the peak elastic displacement. Smooth hysteretic behavior is more similar to actual response of real structural system than a piece-wise linear hysteretic behavior such as bilinear or stiffness degrading behaviors. In this paper, the inelastic displacement ratios of the smooth hysteretic behavior system are evaluated for far-fault and near-fault earthquakes. The simple formula of inelastic displacement ratio considering the effect of $T_g$ is proposed.
