The Nail Jointing Properties and Checking Mechanism of Thinned Japanese Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don.) Boards Grown in Southern District (남부지역 삼나무 간벌목재의 못접합특성과 할렬발생)

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of nail diameter, driving distance from end on the nail check length, and the effects of nail diameter, prehole for nail driving, and nail driving slope on the nail withdrawal resistance, by the static test of universal testing machine. The test specimen were Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don.) boards grown in southern district of Korea, and the nails for test were 2.02~4.82 mm in diameter. After nail driving, the back face checks of test boards were longer than the surface checks. The optimum nail diameter without checks or loss of nail withdrawal resistance were below 10% of board width and the optimum driving distance from end of boards were ten multiple of nail diameter. The relation between nail diameter (x) and withdrawal resistance (y) was linear and the regression formulae for Japanese cedar board was y = 8.66x + 7.6 ($R^2=0.978$). As both of the prehole diameter and driving slope were increased, the withdrawal resistances were significantly decreased.

FFT에 기반한 병렬 디지털 신호처리시스템의 성능분석

  • This paper concerns performance of a parallel digital signal processing system. The performance of the system is analyzed in terms of CPU cycles required for 1024-point FFT computation. The number of cycles is estimated in three different approaches; FFT algorithm-based, assembly level source code-based, and probability-based. The results of analysis indicate that on a bus-based system the best performance for FFT is achieved with a single board. Because in some applications like FFT, where frequent data exchanges among processors occur, the number of communication cycles increases as the number of boards. It is observed that inter-board communication degrades overall system performance for the FFT computation. Also shown is that linear increase in performance can be obtained if multiple buses are employed.

  • A multipurpose TLD readout system for radiation dosimetry and thermoluminescence study is constructed and its characteristics are investigated. The thermoluminescent lights are measured by a PM tube and the current-to-frequency converter. TLDs are heated by platinum heater and the heating rate is linearly varied. Measurement of the glow curve and control of the whole system have been done by a personal computer equipped with an interface board. The automatic gain control can be done by the control software. The lower detection limit of the system is about $10\;{\mu}Gy$ and dose response is linear.

Factors Affecting Voluntary Information Disclosure on Annual Reports: Listed Companies in Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange

  • The study aims to provide some plausible explanation for why Vietnamese listed companies only stop at the level of truthful presentation of information related to accounting data through the opinion of independent auditors. The information is only at the level of compliance with the requirements of Circular 155/2015/TT-BTC in form, but in essence is sketchy. What factors affect the level of voluntary disclosure of listed companies in Vietnam? In order to identify the factors affecting voluntary information disclosure on annual reports of listed companies, the study collected data on annual reports of 122 companies listed on the stock market in Ho Chi Minh City in the period 2015-2018 and uses regression analysis methods. The research presents 8 factors affecting the level of voluntary information disclosure including: Firm size, Listed time, Profitability, Solvency, Separation of board of directors and executive director, Board size, Organizational ownership and Foreign ownership. Next, the study conducted descriptive statistical analysis correlation coefficient analysis to examine the correlation and relevance of independent variables measured by the scale ratio, testing multiple linear regression model. The results of the study show that factors listed time, profitability and organizational ownership affecting voluntary information disclosure on annual reports of listed companies in Vietnam.

  • In this study, we introduce an LED Driving circuit in order that the information state can indicate audio signal gain and radiate pattern of ultrasonic speaker system for a sign board. Ultrasonic speaker system decreases energy loss and transmits the sound farther. Ultrasonic speaker having such characteristics is useful in that it can be widely used in daily life. Additionally, Proposed LED circuit indicates the information state as linear LED brightness taken from interface of ultrasonic speaker system. Designed circuit is confirmed through $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process by Dong-bu.

  • This paper presents a micro fluxgate magnetic sensor in printed circuit board (PCB). The fluxgate sensor consists of five PCB stack layers including one layer magnetic core and four layers of excitation and pick-up coils. The center layer as a magnetic core is made of a micro patterned amorphous magnetic ribbon with extremely high DC permeability of ∼100,000 and the core has a rectangular-ring shape. The amorphous magnetic core is easily saturated due to the low coercive field and closed magnetic path for the excitation field. Four outer layers as an excitation and pick-up coils have a planar solenoid structure. The chip size of the fabricated sensing element is 7.3${\times}$5.7m㎡. Excellent linear response over the range of -100${\mu}$T to +100${\mu}$T is obtained with 540V/T sensitivity at excitation square wave of 3V$\_$P-P/ and 360kHz. The very low power consumption of ∼8mW was measured. This magnetic sensing element which measures the lower fields than 50${\mu}$T, is very useful for various applications such as: portable navigation systems, military research, medical research, and space research.

  • This paper proposes a vision-based kinematic control method for mobile robots with camera-on-board. In the previous literature on the control of mobile robots using camera vision information, the forward velocity is set to be a constant, and only the rotational velocity of the robot is controlled. More efficient motion, however, is needed by controlling the forward velocity, depending on the position in the corridor. Thus, both forward and rotational velocities are controlled in the proposed method such that the mobile robots can move faster when the comer of the corridor is far away, and it slows down as it approaches the dead end of the corridor. In this way, the smooth turning motion along the corridor is possible. To this end, visual information using the camera is used to obtain the perspective lines and the distance from the current robot position to the dead end. Then, the vanishing point and the pseudo desired position are obtained, and the forward and rotational velocities are controlled by the LOS(Line Of Sight) guidance law. Both numerical and experimental results are included to demonstrate the validity of the proposed method.

Automatic Extraction of Component Window for Auto-Teaching of PCB Assembly Inspection Machines (PCB 조립검사기의 자동티칭을 위한 부품윈도우 자동추출 방법)

  • We propose an image segmentation method for auto-teaching system of PCB (Printed Circuit Board) assembly inspection machines. The inspection machine acquires images of all components in PCB, and then compares each image with its standard image to find the assembly errors such as misalignment, inverse polarity, and tombstone. The component window that is the area of component to be acquired by camera, is one of the teaching data for operating the inspection machines. To reduce the teaching time of the machine, we newly develop the image processing method to extract the component window automatically from the image of PCB. The proposed method segments the component window by excluding the soldering parts as well as board background. We binarize the input image by use of HSI color model because it is difficult to discriminate the RGB colors between components and backgrounds. The linear combination of the binarized images then enhances the component window from the background. By use of the horizontal and vertical projection of histogram, we finally obtain the component widow. The experimental results are presented to verify the usefulness of the proposed method.

Implementation of a Sensor Fusion FPGA for an IoT System (사물인터넷 시스템을 위한 센서 융합 FPGA 구현)

  • In this paper, a Kalman filter-based sensor fusion filter that measures posture by calibrating and combining information obtained from acceleration and gyro sensors was proposed. Recent advancements in sensor network technology have required sensor fusion technology. In the proposed approach, the nonlinear system model of the filter is converted to a linear system model through a Jacobian matrix operation, and the measurement value predicted via Euler integration. The proposed filter was implemented at an operating frequency of 74 MHz using a Virtex-6 FPGA Board from Xilinx Inc. Further, the accuracy and reliability of the measured posture were validated by comparing the values obtained using the implemented filters with those from existing filters.
