In the maritime container terminal, LMTT (Linear Motor-based Transfer Technology) is horizontal transfer system for the yard automation, which has been proposed to take the place of AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle). The system is based on PMLSM (Permanent Magnetic Linear Synchronous Motor) that is consists of stator modules on the rail and shuttle car (mover). Because of large variant of mover's weight by loading and unloading containers, the difference of each characteristic of stator modules, and a stator module's trouble etc., LMCPS (Linear Motor Conveyance Positioning System) is considered as that the system is changed its model suddenly and variously. In this paper, we will introduce the soft-computing method of a multi-step prediction control for LMCPS using DR-FNN (Dynamically-constructed Recurrent Fuzzy Neural Network). The proposed control system is used two networks for multi-step prediction. Consequently, the system has an ability to adapt for external disturbance, cogging force, force ripple, and sudden changes of itself.
This paper is a study on weighted cepstrum used broadly for robust speech recognition. Especially, we propose the weighted function of asymmetric glottal pulse shape. which is used for weighted cepstrum extracted by PLP(Perceptual Linear Predictive) based on auditory model. Also, we analyze this glottal weighted cepstrum from the glottal pulse of glottal model in connection with the cepstrum. And we obtain speech features analyzed by both the glottal model and the auditory model. The isolated-word recognition rate is adopted for the test of proposed method in the car moise and street environment. And the performance of glottal weighted cepstrum is compared with both that of weighted cepstrum extracted by LP(Linear Prediction) and that of weighted cepstrum extracted by PLP. The result of computer simulation shows that recognition rate of the proposed glottal weighted cepstrum is better than those of other weighted cepstrums.

Since human decision making behavior is likely to follow nonlinear strategy, it is conjectured that the human decision making behavior can be modeled better by nonlinear models than by linear models. All that linear models can do is to approximate rather than model the decision behavior. This study attempts to test this conjecture by analyzing human decision making behavior and combining the results of the analysis with predictive performance of both linear models and nonlinear models. In this way, this study can examine the relationship between the predictive performance of models and the existence of valid nonlinear strategy in decision making behavior. This study finds that the existence of nonlinear strategy in decision making behavior is highly correlated with the validity of the decision (or the human experts). The second finding concerns the significant correlations between the model performance and the existence of valid nonlinear strategy which is detected by Lens Model. The third finding is that as stronger the valid nonlinear strategy becomes, the better nonlinear models predict significantly than linear models. The results of this study bring an important concept, validity of nonlinear strategy, to modeling human experts. The inclusion of the concept indicates that the prior analysis of human judgement may lead to the selection of proper modeling algorithm. In addition, lens Model Analysis is proved to be useful in examining the valid nonlinearity in human decision behavior.
Back-propagation neural network (BPNN) is the most prevalently used paradigm in modeling semiconductor manufacturing processes, which as a neuron activation function typically employs a bipolar or unipolar sigmoid function in either hidden and output layers. In this study, applicability of another linear function as a neuron activation function is investigated. The linear function was operated in combination with other sigmoid functions. Comparison revealed that a particular combination, the bipolar sigmoid function in hidden layer and the linear function in output layer, is found to be the best combination that yields the highest prediction accuracy. For BPNN with this combination, predictive performance once again optimized by incrementally adjusting the gradients respective to each function. A total of 121 combinations of gradients were examined and out of them one optimal set was determined. Predictive performance of the corresponding model were compared to non-optimized, revealing that optimized models are more accurate over non-optimized counterparts by an improvement of more than 30%. This demonstrates that the proposed gradient-optimized teaming for BPNN with a linear function in output layer is an effective means to construct plasma models. The plasma modeled is a hemispherical inductively coupled plasma, which was characterized by a 24 full factorial design. To validate models, another eight experiments were conducted. process variables that were varied in the design include source polver, pressure, position of chuck holder and chroline flow rate. Plasma attributes measured using Langmuir probe are electron density, electron temperature, and plasma potential.
Two new predictive design methods are presented in this study. The first is a hybrid method, called neuro-fuzzy, based on neural networks with fuzzy learning. A total of 280 experimental datasets obtained from the literature concerning concentric punching shear tests of reinforced concrete slab-column connections without shear reinforcement were used to test the model (194 for experimentation and 86 for validation) and were endorsed by statistical validation criteria. The punching shear strength predicted by the neuro-fuzzy model was compared with those predicted by current models of punching shear, widely used in the design practice, such as ACI 318-08, SIA262 and CBA93. The neuro-fuzzy model showed high predictive accuracy of resistance to punching according to all of the relevant codes. A second, more user-friendly design method is presented based on a predictive linear regression model that supports all the geometric and material parameters involved in predicting punching shear. Despite its simplicity, this formulation showed accuracy equivalent to that of the neuro-fuzzy model.
An enzyme-free optical method is proposed for estimating high concentrations of glucose in a glucose-lactose mixture, based on a predictive equation that takes advantage of the reflective optical power observed at two discrete wavelengths. Compared to the conventional absorption spectroscopy method based on Beer's Law, which is mainly valid for concentrations below hundreds of mg/dL, the proposed scheme, which relies on reflection signals, can be applied to measure higher glucose concentrations, of even several g/dL in a glucose-lactose mixture. Two probe wavelengths of 1160 and 1300 nm were selected to provide a linear relationship between the reflective power and pure glucose/lactose concentration, where the relevant linear coefficients were derived to complete the predictive equation. Glucose concentrations from 2 to 7 g/dL in a glucose-lactose mixture were efficiently estimated, using the established predictive equation based on monitored reflective powers. The standard error of prediction was 1.17 g/dL.
Among the state-space description of discrete vent systems, the max-plus algebra is known as one of the effective approach. This paper proposes a model predictive control (MPC) design method based on the max-plus algebra. Several studies related to these topics have been done so far under the constraints that system parameters are constant. However, in practical systems such as production systems, it is common and sometimes inevitable that system parameters vary by each event. Therefore, it is of worth to design a new MPC controller taking account of adjustable system parameters. In this paper, we formulate system parameters as adjustable ones, and they are solved by a linear programing method. Since MPC determines optimal control input considering future reference signals, the controller can be more robust and the operation cost can be reduced. Finally, the proposed method is applied to a production system with three machines, and the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through a numerical simulation.
Two different issues, design of reduced-order robust model predictive control and input signal design for identification of a MIMO system, are addressed and design techniques based on singular value decomposition(SVD) of the pulse response circulant matrix(PRCM) are proposed. For this, we investigate the properties of the PRCM, which is a periodic approximation of a linear discrete-time system, and show its SVD represents the directional as well as the frequency decomposition of the system. Usefulness of the PRCM and effectiveness of the proposed design techniques are demonstrated through numerical examples.
Active roll control can improve handling and ride comfort. Dynamic characteristics of the hydraulic actuators for active suspension, which can be modeled as the 1'st order time lag system, hinders the performance improvement. To overcome this shortcoming a predictive controller is designed based on 3 d.o.f. linear vehicle handling model. The effect of this controller is studied through the simulation based on 10 d.o.f. nonlinear vehicle model and the results is compared to that of feedforward controller which uses lateral acceleration as control signal.
This paper deals with MCMBPC(Multivariable Constrained Model Based Predictive Controller) for nonlinear boiler system with noise and disturbance. MCMBPC is designed by linear state space model obtained from some operating point of nonlinear boiler system and Kalman filter is used to estimate the state with noise and disturbance. The solution of optimization of the cost function constrained on input and/or output variables is achieved using quadratic programming, viz. singular value decomposition (SVD). The controller designed is shown to have excellent tracking performance via simulation applied to nonlinear dynamic drum boiler turbine model for 16OMW unit.
