  • This study presents work to utilize RADARSAT SAR image for forecast oil slick trajectory movement. The fractal dimension algorithm used to detect oil slick. The Doppler frequency shift and quasi-linear model was used to simulate a current pattern from RADARSAT image. The Fay’s algorithm of oil slick spreading was developed based on a Doppler frequency shift model. Thus, the study shows that fractal dimension algorithm discriminated the oil slick from the surrounding water features. The quasi-linear model shows that the current pattern can be simulated from single RADARSAT image. The oil slick trajectory model shows that after 48 hrs, the oil slick parcels deposited along the coastal waters.

  • Blood flow is one of vital signals related to human physiological information. Photoplethysmograph (PPG) has been used to measure indirectly heart rate, blood oxygen saturation ($SpO_2$), and so on. Because PPG signal is weak and sensitive to motion artifacts, it is very important to continuously obtain stable PPG signal during free movement. In this study, we applied the scaled Fourier linear combiner (SFLC) using both the adaptive filter and FLC to remove effectively the motion artifacts as well as background noise in the real time without additional signal correlated with motion from a accelerometer. The proposed method would be useful to reduce the movement and background noise which are not synchronized with heart rate.

  • Development of the linear motors is recently required to control a high-speed and high-resolution in the high-integrated and speed process industry. This paper presents vibration analyses as well as measurement standards of the newly developed linear motors through analyzing the vibration characteristics of the advanced products. Vibration experiments are conducted for identifying vibration level during operation. They are also included in the modal test to analyze dynamic characteristics. Analytic data using Finite Element Method (FEM) are compared with the results of the modal. The FEM and experiments make it possible to understand these characteristics. Further, through computer simulation for the behavior of moving part to be vibration source, the best acceleration pattern of moving part movement can be verified to achieve effective moving part positioning and reduce the vibration due to moving part movement.

  • This paper deal with the biped walking stability by inverted pendulum type balancing joints. This model is hard to interpretation for the nonlinearity caused by upper direction movement then conventional model which have roll and prismatic joints. We can interpret this model by a linear approximation or interpolation method. This paper use a linear approximation method that can decide a movement of upper direction. Inverted pendulum type balancing joints have a advantage of less movement for keep stability and similar with human than conventional model and this model can be used for humanoid robot. We can see a stability of biped by ZMP(Zero Moment Point). Genetic algorithm is used for trajectory planning that is important for stable walking of biped.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relations between the segments of the body, the three dimensional anatomical angle according to sweep shot in ice hockey. The subjects of this study were five professional ice hockey players. The reflective makers were attached on anatomical boundary line of body. For the movement analysis three dimensional cinematographical method(APAS) was used and for the calculation of the kinematic variables a self developed program was used with the LabVIEW 6.1 graphical programming(Johnson, 1999) program. By using Eular's equations the three dimensional anatomical Cardan angles of the joint and ice hockey stick were defined. 1. In three dimensional linear velocity of blade the Y axis showed maximum linear velocity almost impact, the X axis(horizontal direction) and the Z axis(vertical direction) maximum linear velocity of blade did not show at impact but after impact this will resulted influence upon hitting puck. 2. The resultant linear velocity of each segment of right arm showed maximum resultant linear velocity at impact. It could be suggest that the right arm swing patterns is kind of push-like movement. therefore the upper arm is the most important role in the right arm swing. 3. The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of trunk in flexion-extension showed flexion all around the wrist shot. The angular displacement of trunk in internal-external rotation showed internal rotation angle at the backswing top and and increased the angle after the impact. while there is no significant adduction-abduction. 4. The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of trunk showed most important role in wrist shot. and is follwed by shoulder joints, in addition the movement of elbow/wrist joints showed least to the shot. this study result showed upperlimb of left is more important role than upperlimb of right.

  • This paper introduces a visual inspecting and monitoring system based on an image processing technique. We propose an image processing method for analyzing landslide movement in real time. The method adopts Laplacian of Gaussian operator to extract linear features for the captured images and uses a linear matching algorithm to distinguish the matching error for those features. When the algorithm is processed, motion parameters such as displacement area and its direction are computed. Once movement is recognized, displacements are estimated graphically with statistical amount in the image plane. The simulation results are shown us to verify the effectiveness of the developed method.

  • The aim of this study was to identify the characteristics of the flexion withdrawal reflex modulated by the hip angle and hip movement in spinal cord injury (SCI). The influence of the hip position and passive movement were tested in 6 subjects with chronic SCI. Each subject placed in a supine position and lower leg was fixed with the knee at 5 -45 degree flexion and the ankle at 25-40 degree plantar flexion. A train of 10 stimulus pulses were applied at 200 Hz to the skin of the medial arch to trigger flexion reflexes. From results of the regression analysis, static properties of normalized muscle activation of flexor muscles have the linear relationship with respect to hip angle (P< 0.05). In order to verify the neural contribution of flexion reflex, we compared the static and dynamic gains of estimated muscle activations with measured EMG of ankle flexor muscle. Form this study, we postulate that the torque and muscle response of flexion withdrawal reflex have linear relationship with hip angle and angular velocity.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the punching movement at the horseback riding stance, one of the basic movements in Taekwondo, with 3D images and further the kinetic variables such as time, velocity, angle, angular velocity, and angular acceleration according to the types. It also aimed to examine the characteristics of each type and suggest instructional methods for the right punching movement. For those purposes, three members from the College Taekwondo Poomse Demonstration Squad were put to the test. The research findings led to the following conclusions: 1. Performance Time of the Punching Movement : In Section 1, Type 1 and 2 recorded $0.24{\pm}0.07s$ and $0.42{\pm}0.08s$, respectively, for the punching movement at the horseback riding stance. While Type 1 took less performance time in the punching movement, Type 2 took less time for take back according to each section's percentage in the total performance time. 2. Variables of Linear Velocity and Linear Acceleration : Each type recorded different linear velocity for each aspect, but the highest linear velocity represented the moment of impact for each type. Type 2 recorded the highest linear velocity in Aspect 4, which was the moment of impact. 3. Variable of Joint Angle : There were no big outer differences in the joint angle during the punching movement between Type 1 in the aspect of impact and Type 2, but the individuals assumed dynamic positions in the punching movement of Type 2 with more diverse changes to the joint angle. 4. Variables of Angular Velocity and Angular Acceleration During the punching movement of Type 1, the Aspect 3 in the moment of impact recorded angular velocity of $0.79{\pm}0.02deg/s$, $0.91{\pm}0.04deg/s$, and $5.24{\pm}0.09deg/s$ at the pelvis, shoulder, and wrist respectively. During the punching movement of Type 2, the Aspect 3 in the moment of impact recorded angular velocity of $1.32{\pm}0.03deg/s$, $0.21{\pm}0.03deg/s$, and $4.98{\pm}0.08deg/$ at the shoulder, wrist, and pelvis, respectively. In the Aspect 3 in the moment of impact in Type 2, the angular acceleration at the right wrist joint was $176.24{\pm}1.11deg/s^2$, which was bigger than that in the moment of impact in Type 1.

  • In this paper, the geometry between horizontal and vertical movement of lens is studied for automatic vergence control of horizontal moving axis stereo camera. When the disparity of stereo remains contant, the horizontal movement of camera lens for image disparity and the vertical movement for image focus have linear geometry. Using this linearity, we can control the vergence of stereo camera only by focusing of stereo camera lens.
