We present $10{\mu}m-35{\mu}m$ Spitzer spectra of the interstellar medium in the Central Molecular Zone (CMZ), the central 210 pc ${\times}$ 60 pc of the Galactic center (GC). We present maps of the CMZ in ionic and $H_2$ emission, covering a more extensive area than earlier spectroscopic surveys in this region. The radial velocities and intensities of ionic lines and $H_2$ suggest that most of the $H_2$ 0-0 S(0) emission comes from gas along the line-of-sight, as found by previous work. We compare diagnostic line ratios measured in the Spitzer Infrared Nearby Galaxies Survey (SINGS) to our data. Previous work shows that forbidden line ratios can distinguish star-forming galaxies from LINERs and AGNs. Our GC line ratios agree with star-forming galaxies and not with LINERs or AGNs.
Transverse magnetohydrodynamic waves often called Alfvénic (or kink) waves have been often theoretically put forward to solve the outstanding problems of the solar corona like coronal heating, solar wind acceleration, and chemical abundance enhancement. Here we report the first spectroscopic detection of Alfvénic waves around a sunspot at chromospheric heights. By analyzing the spectra of the Hα line and Ca II 854.2 nm line, we determined line-of-sight velocity and temperature as functions of position and time. As a result, we identified transverse magnetohydrodynamic waves pervading the superpenumbral fibrils. These waves are characterized by the periods of 2.5 to 4.5 minutes, and the propagation direction parallel to the fibrils, the supersonic propagation speeds of 45 to 145 km s-1, and the close association with umbral oscillations and running penumbral waves in sunspots. Our results support the notion that the chromosphere around sunspots abounds with Alfvénic waves excited by the mode conversion of the upward-propagating slow magnetoacoustic waves.

This paper proposes an LOS(line-of-sight) guidance system of a ship for path following. From the viewpoint of a control configuration, guidance is a special type of compensation algorithm that is placed in front of the controller to accomplish navigational objects. A guidance system generates a reference trajectory for trajectory tracking or path control and decides the desired velocity, position and heading angle. A control system executes commands based on a reliable guidance law during navigation. An LOS vector from the vessel to a point on the path between two way-points in straight-line navigation or a point among turning circle in turning navigation is selected, and then a heading angle is calculated to converge the desired path based on the LOS vector. The LOS guidance law is defined for the straight-line and the turning circle, respectively. The effectiveness of the suggested LOS guidance system is assured through computer simulation.

This paper suggests LOS(Line-Of-Sight) guidance system of a surface vessel in straight-line navigation under ocean currents An LOS vector from the vessel to a point on the path between two way-points is decided and a heading angle is calculated to converge to follow the desired path based on the LOS vector This guidance system is called LOS guidance system. The suggested LOS guidance law has parameters to be properly chosen according to navigational environment. Parameters of LOS guidance system are optimized to reduce propulsive energy and/or position error between desired Position and present position of a ship using genetic algorithm which is a strong optimization algorithm with adaptational random search The effectiveness of the suggested LOS guidance system is assured through computer simulations.

In this paper, a waypoint guidance law Line Tracking algorithm is designed for testing an Unmanned Airship. In order to verify, we develop an autonomous flight control and test system of unmanned airship. The flight test system is composed FCC (Flight Control Computer), GCS (Ground Control System), Autopilot & Guidance program, GUI (Graphic User Interface) based analysis program, and Test Log Sheet for the management of flight test data. It contains flight test results of single-path & multi-path following, one point continuation turn, LOS guidance, and safe mode for emergency.
We present kinematic properties of the narrow-line region in three type-2 QSOs at z~0.35, using 2-D spectra obtained with the VIMOS integral field unit spectrograph at the Very Large Telescope. One of the objects shows a line-of-sight velocity shift of the [OIII] and $H{\beta}$ lines up to 40km/s on a 15 kpc scale, which can be interpreted as either outflow or rotation. The outflow scenario is supported by the presence of blue wings and a radio structure showing lobes in the same direction. Another object features double-peaked emission lines which can be decomposed into two velocity components. Its Hubble Space Telescope image shows two nuclei separated by ~0.2"(~1kpc), implying this may be a binary AGN.
Observations of a filament showing an activated barb recorded from the at the Dutch Open Telescope (DOT) on 2010 August 20 are presented. The filament developed a barb in 10 minutes, which disappeared within the next 35 minutes. Such a rapid formation and disappearance of a filament barb is unusual, and has been seldom reported. Line-of-sight velocity maps were constructed from images in seven line positions along the H-alpha line. We observe flows in the filament spine towards the barb location prior to its formation, and flows in the barb towards the spine during its disappearance. Photospheric magnetograms from Helioseismic Magnetic Imager on board the Solar Dynamics Observatory were used to determine the changes in magnetic flux in the region surrounding the barb location. The variation of magnetic flux in this duration support the view that barbs are rooted in minor magnetic polarity.

In this paper, a new approach has been studied correcting the geometric distortion of SPOT 4 imagery. Two new equations were induced by the relationship between satellite and the Earth in the space. line-of-sight (LOS) vector adjustment model for SPOT 4 imagery was implemented in this study. This model is to adjust LOS vector under the assumption that the orbital information of satellite provided by receiving station is uncertain and this uncertainty makes a constant error over the image. This model is verified using SPOT 4 satellite image with high look angle and thirty five ground points, which include 10 GCPs(Ground Control Points) and 25 check points, measured by the GPS. In total thirty five points, the geometry of satellite image calculated by given satellite information(such as satellite position, velocity, attitude and look angles, etc) from SPOT 4 satellite image was distorted with a constant error. Through out the study, it was confirmed that the LOS vector adjustment model was able to be applied to SPOT4 satellite image. Using this model, RMSEs (Root Mean Square Errors) of twenty five check points taken by increasing the number of GCPs from two to ten were less than one pixel. As a result, LOS vector adjustment model could efficiently correct the geometry of SPOT4 images with only two GCPs. This method also is expected to get good results for the different satellite images that are similar to the geometry of SPOT images.

In this paper, we measured the propagation path loss by a ground to air flight communication test at UHF band and analyzed the results. The ground receiving terminal was located at 1,100m above sea level in Cheju Island and the airborne transmit terminal flew at an altitude of 3.5km from 150 to 220km from the ground terminal. In this case, the ground terminal and the airborne terminal are on the Line of Sight. Therefore loss in this communications environment can be predicted based on Free Space Loss. However, in this test, the sea level exists between two terminals, and due to the very small angle of incidence on the reflecting surface due to the long-range communication environment, it is not possible to accurately predict the loss of free space only. Therefore, considering that there are no surrounding obstacles and that a line of sight is secured between the end of two terminals, we applied a plane earth reflection model and a spherical earth reflection model to estimate the propagation path loss and compared with the actual test results. As a result of the comparison, the predicted propagation path loss by a spherical earth reflection model were quite similar to the actual test values.

A new filter algorithm is suggested improving structurally the conventional extended Kalman filter of which the performance is dependent on the selection of the reference axes, by use of line-of-sight axes and gain rotation technique. The implementation method using microcomputer which implements tracking Kalman filter is introduced in terms of hardware and software. Then, through the simulation the performance of suggested filter is compared with that of conventional extended Kalman filter and the possibility of the real time tracking of moving target is investigated.
