This study used a single metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) sensor to classify the major odorous gases hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$), ammonia ($NH_3$) and toluene ($C_6H_5CH_3$). In order to classify these odorous substances, the voltage on the MOS sensor heater was gradually reduced in 0.5 V steps 5.0 V to examine the changes to the response by the cooling effect on the sensor as the voltage decreased. The hydrogen sulfide gas showed the highest sensitivity compared to odorless air under approximately 2.5 V and the ammonia and toluene gases showed the highest sensitivity under approximately 5.0 V. In other words, the hydrogen sulfide gas reacted better in the low temperature range of the MOS sensor, and the ammonia and toluene gases reacted better in the high-temperature range. In order to analyze the response characteristics of the MOS sensor by temperature in a pattern, a two-dimensional (2D) x-y pattern analysis was introduced to clearly classify the hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, and toluene gases. The hydrogen sulfide gas was identified by a straight line with a slope of 1.73, whereas the ammonia gas had a slope of 0.05 and the toluene gas had a slope of 0.52. Therefore, the 2D x-y pattern analysis is suggested as a new way to classify these odorous substances.

In this paper, we propose an image processing based method to measure red-time and green-time backward moving shockwave speed automatically at signalized intersections. Shockwave means the discontinuous boundary line between different vehicle traffic flows, and its moving speed is called shockwave speed which is obtain from the slope of boundary line. In this paper, we compose distance-time diagram for measuring shockwave speed automatically. By global vehicle tracking, we draw all of the vehicle moving path on distance-time diagram. We analyze the slope change pattern of curved moving path line, and compute red-time and green-time backward moving shockwave speed. We obtain the measurement result of shockwave speed, when applying above mentioned proposed method to experiment at signalized intersections, Once we can measure the shockwave speed, we could apply the result to highway ramp metering and automatic signal control at intersections effectively since we know the situation of frontal congestion easily.
Studies of muscle fatigue have mostly been checked under isometric exercise. However EMG signals from isotonic exercise generate uncontrollable noise, so there were difficulties in gathering reliable median frequency and muscle fatigue index if frequency analysis was equally applied in isometric exercise. This study tried to compare the differences of muscle fatigue determinant variables in terms of median frequency searching methods of EMG signal, which was estimated in isotonic exercise. To accomplish this, we determined median frequency by using different FFT intervals and overlapping ration of consecutive FFT sections under the same EMG signal, and then searched for a linear regression line, and compared initial median frequency, slope, and muscle fatigue index which were variables under the linear regression line. In result of comparison, initial median frequency was more elevated as FFT exercise interval became larger. The slope of the linear regression line showed distinguishable decreasing tendency as FFT intervals were larger and overlapping sections were smaller. Significant tendency of muscle fatigue index in FFT interval was shown by high muscle fatigue index in specific FFT intervals.

In this study, the analytic expression for the positive/negative $n^{th}-Mode$ resonance frequency of an N unit cell composite right-/lefthanded (CRLH) transmission line is derived. To explain the resonance mechanism of the $n^{th}$ mode, especially for the negative mode, the current distribution of the N unit cell CRLH transmission line is investigated with a circuit simulation. Results show that both positive and negative $n^{th}$ resonance modes have n times current variations, but their phase difference is $180^{\circ}$ as expected. Moreover, the positive $n^{th}$ resonance occurs at a high frequency, whereas the negative $n^{th}$ resonance transpires at a low frequency, thus indicating that the negative resonance mode can be utilized for a small resonator. The correlation between the slope of the dispersion curve and the bandwidth is also observed. In sum, the balanced condition of the CRLH transmission line provides a broader bandwidth than the unbalanced condition.
In this study, attack process and aerial control line construction type which were considered forest fire type and a case of operations were suggested using the experience of aerial fire attack of all type of forest fires. As the spread rate of forest fire is effected by terrain, slope, wind speed, forest species and etc., we needed to analyze spreading direction, behavior type and intensity before heli-team constructed a aerial control line. Especially, It is important to consider safety of attack team as a their views were obstructed. In this study, we suggested a 13 methods from type A to type M about attack and construction of aerial indirect control line.
Traditional displacmir~nt measurement included an extrancous and cvrntlc. portmn due
to test setup and support crushing. The magnitudc of this erroneous deformation was
found to be of the same order as the actual displacement, leading to inaccurate
determinations of fracture parameters. To overcome this problem, the load-CMOD
relationship is a more reliable parameter for determining the fracture characteristics
because it is unaffected by the specimen setup and any support crushing.
An important step towards the use of load-(:MOD concept as a key fracture parameter
depends on relating the CMODto the traditional load-line deflection. This investigation
found that there was an unique linear relationship between the CMOD and the load-line
deflection. The exact numeric value of relationship between the CMOD and the deflection.
that is, the slope ofthe line, is discovered to be a material property. The relationship finds
a problem with the existing IZIL,EM recommendations for. measuring the fracture energy of
concrete. A proposal to correct the problem is made.

A new wire detection algorithm for power line inspection by a mobile robot has been proposed in this paper. There have been a lot of studies in order to support the high-quality electric power. For the high-quality power supply, it is necessary to investigate the power lines and insulators before the lines or insulators were disconnected or damaged. Although Korea Electric power Corp. has made many efforts for the quality improvement, it is not enough to inspect all the power lines by human inspectors. According to this problem, it is decided to replace the human operators by the power line inspection robot. When the robots are used for the inspection, there could be several advantages, for example, the working efficiency and the prevention of accident. And also the shortage of human power for dangerous jobs can be resolved. In this paper, as a part of the development of power line inspection robot, DICRO, the sensor fusion and fuzzy control algorithms are developed to detect the wire and slope of the wire. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithms is proved by the real experiments with DICRO which is under development so far.
In this study we present a new improved nonlinear calibration method for vector magnetograms made by the Solar Flare Telescope of BOAO. To identify Fe I 6302.5 line, we have scanned monochromatic images of the line integrated over filter passband, changing the location of the central transmission wavelength of a Lyot filter. Then we obtained a filter-convolved line profile, which is in good agreement with spectral atlas data provided by the Sacramento Peak Solar Observatory. The line profile has been used to derive calibration coefficients of longitudinal and transverse fields, employing the conventional line slope method under the weak field approximation. Our improved nonlinear calibration method has also been used to calculate theoretical Stokes polarization signals with various angles of inclination of magnetic fields. For its numerical test, we have compared input magnetic fields with the calibrated ones, which have been derived from the new improved non-linear method and the conventional method respectively. The numerical test shows that the calibrated fields obtained from the improved method are consistent with the input fields, but not with those from the conventional method. Finally, we applied our new improved method to a dipole model which characterizes a typical field configuration of a single, round sunspot. It is noted that the conventional method remarkably underestimates the transverse field component near the inner penumbra.
This paper introduces an active power dependent standard characteristic curve, Q(P) to compensate for voltage variations due to the output of distributed generation. This paper presents an efficient control method of grid-connected inverters by comparing and analyzing voltage variation magnitude and line loss according to the compensation method. Voltage variations are caused not only by active power, but also by the change of reactive power flowing in the line. In particular, the system is in a relatively remote place in a coastal area compared with existing power plants, so it is relatively weak and may not be suitable for voltage control. So, since it is very important to keep the voltage below the normal voltage limit within the specified inverter capacity and to minimize line loss due to the reactive power. we describe the active power dependent standard characteristic curve, Q(P) method and verify the magnitude of voltage variation by simulation. Finally, the characteristics of each control method and line loss are compared and analyzed.

Dynamic Programming Matching (DPM) is a mathematical optimization technique for sequentially structured problems, which has, over the years, played a major role in providing primary algorithms in pattern recognition fields. Most practical applications of this method in signature verification have been based on the practical implementational version proposed by Sakoe and Chiba [9], and il usually applied as a case of slope constraint p = 0. We found, in this case, a modified version of DPM by applying a heuristic (forward seeking) implementation is more efficient, offering significantly reduced processing complexity as well as slightly improved verification performance.
