틸트로터 항공기 비선형 시뮬레이션 프로그램 개발 (Development of Simulation Program for Tilt Rotor Aircraft)

  • VTOL(Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft is attractive due to the reason that it is not necessary to have long runway. However a rotorcraft has a definite limitation to fly at the high speed due to the stall at the tip of rotor. To solve this problem, tilt rotor, tilt wing and lift fan were researched and developed. It was verified that the tilt rotor aircraft among them was more effective in disk loading. On this basis, the tilt rotor aircraft has been made into XV-15, V-22, BA-609 and Eagle Eye. This paper shows a nonlinear simulation program for general tilt rotor aircraft that was developed in order to validate the flight characteristics of tilt rotor aircraft and verified through the simulation analysis.

  • When developing a vehicle control system, simulation methods are widely used to validate the whole system in the early development phase. With this regard, the simulator should correctly behave just like the real parts that are not yet implemented while interacting with already implemented parts in real-time. However, most simulators cannot provide functionally and temporally accurate behaviors of the target system. In order to overcome this limitation, this paper proposes a novel real-time simulation technique that can efficiently simulate the temporal behavior as well as the functional behavior of the simulation target system.

  • During the last decade, high quality digital audio has essentially replaced analog audio. During this period, digital audio have applied many application areas of the info-industry. These applications have created a demand for high quality digital audio. In audio compression, the methods using human auditory nervous properties are used and introduced from psychoacoustical model utilized perceptual audio coding unable to code above the limitation of human perception. The discussion concentrates on architectures and applications of those techniques which utilize psychoacoustical models to exploit efficiently masking characteristics of the human receiver. In this paper, the designed MDCT/IMBCT as a standard of current MPEG is implemented onto FPGA.

  • This paper introduces a new algorithm of pulse generation and detection for UWB communication system. The existing UWB systems using Gaussian pulse have some difficulties to cope with bandwidth limitation and frequency transition. Moreover. the system sensitivity to channel noise has made the processes of acquisition and tacking difficult. in this paper, we introduce a new pulse generation method which is able to control the bandwidth and center frequency applying modulation method. thus could improve the detection performance of receiving algorithm. Also, we made a system to search maximum perk by applying the proposed algorithm and consequently could guarantee the correct detection. By the result of simulation, when accumulate 10 times at every 2dB band shifting from 0 to 18dB on AWGN channel, we could confirm the proposed method has 97.4% PDR(Pulse Detection Rate) and 1.868% FAR(False Alarm Rate) performance at 4dB SNR and 15% transmission power threshold level.

반사형 저위상 변화 감쇠기의 설계 (Design of reflection type low phase shift attenuator)

  • A transmission type phase shift attenuator has a poor reflection characteristics at an output port. And that is controlled by the current, its dynamic rnage decreases due to the current limitation. In this paper, to avoid such disadvantages, a reflection type low phase shift attenuator has been designed and measured. As a result, at a center frequency (1855MHz), the sreflection type low pahse shift attenuator has an attenuation of 30dB, within the limit of 3 phase shift and less than -17dB reflection characteristics at both input and output ports. And it demonstrates the peformance of the reflection type low phase shift attenuator is better than the transmission type phase shift attenuator with the same measurement specifications.

  • This paper proposes a bit allocation algorithm using adaptive bandwidth for ADSL that uses the DMT technology. In certain cases for high attenuation loops the conventional algorithms are unable to assign data bits to the higher frequency tones, due to the power spectrum mask limitation recommended by ANSI Standard, even if the total power budget is not expended. In the proposed bit allocation algorithm, adjacent empty tones that would not be used merge into single tone, then additional bits is assigned to the merged empty tones. Because additional bits is allocated, most of the available power is used. The proposed algorithm show that total bit increase in about 2~9% bits more than about conventional "water-filling" and "bit removal" algorithms and that is able to use about 93% of the available budget Power

Transport Properties of Dumbbell Molecules by Equilibrium Molecular Dynamics Simulations

  • We presents new results for transport properties of dumbbell fluids by equilibrium molecular dynamics (EMD) simulations using Green-Kubo and Einstein formulas. It is evident that the interaction between dumbbell molecules is less attractive than that between spherical molecules which leads to higher diffusion and to lower friction. The calculated viscosity, however, is almost independent on the molecular elongation within statistical error bar, which is contradicted to the Stokes' law. The calculated thermal conductivity increases and then decreases as molecular elongation increases. These results of viscosity and thermal conductivity for dumbbell molecules by EMD simulations are inconsistent with the earlier results of those by non-equilibrium molecular dynamics (NEMD) simulations. The possible limitation of the Green-Kubo and Einstein formulas with regard to the calculations of viscosity and thermal conductivity for molecular fluids such as the missing rotational degree of freedom is pointed out.

  • In this paper, high speed fiber optic sensor weigh-in motion (WIM) system is proposed. Bragg gratings which have several advantages such as good reproducibility and good multiplicity compare to other optical fiber sensors are used for the system. Fabry-Perot filter for the signal process, which cannot be used in the high speed measurement because of the limitation in fast operation of PZT, is excluded. A new signal processing system which employs bandwidth filter is proposed and bridge type new sensor package design is also proposed. Design of the mold supporter is modified to round shape and then supporting points do not change. The data from the fiber sensors show identical and linear behavior to the axle weight. The proposed fiber optic WIM system is tested in the laboratory and experimented with actual trucks. The new concept of calibration is introduced and calculated by the experiments. The calibrated weight data show good approximations to real axial weights regardless the velocities of the truck.

A Parametric Study on Ice Scouring Mechanism for Determination of Pipeline Burial Depths

  • Interaction of grounded ice ridges with underlying seabed is one of the major considerations in the design of Arctic pipeline system. Previously several ice scour models were developed by researchers to describe the ice scour-seabed interaction mechanism. In this paper, a parametric study on ice scouring mechanism is performed and the limitation of ice scour-seabed interaction models is discussed. Simple laboratory tests are carried out and then the shape pattern of deposited soil around the ice is redefined. New ice scour model assumes trapezoidal cross section based on the field observation data. Ice scour depth and soil resistance forces on seabed are calculated with varying the keel angle of a model ice ridge.

  • When the vibration troubles occur on the ship structure during the sea trial, the rectification work is very restricted because of in-situ limitation. Usually the finite element method is used to improve vibration characteristics of the structure, but it takes lots of time and effort in modeling the structure and adjusting the finite element model in order to consider appropriate boundary conditions of a complex ship structure. Therefore, experimental methods have been in general suggested to obtain proper countermeasures without time-consuming in modeling. In this paper, FRF(frequency response function) synthesis method is applied to estimate natural frequency of the modified ship structure, which is obtained from experimental and numerical methods.
