  • Objectives: To identify factors affecting the health of male professional soldiers. Methods: Cross-sectional questionnaire data was collected from a randomly stratified sample population of 763 officers and sergeants who were employed in 34 units in the Korean military. Data were statistically analyzed using Chi-square test and multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: Work environment and personal health behavior were influential factors, which were differentiated by recent disease history including cardiovascular disease and self-rated health status. Sergeants in special forces/units or engaged in front-line military activities, and soldiers who were current smokers and heavy drinkers were more likely to have been diagnosed with a disease in the preceding three months. Those who were older, obese, and heavy drinkers were more likely to have cardiovascular disease than those who were less obese and more physical active. Soldiers exhibiting signs of extreme stress were more likely to poorly self-rate their health status. Conclusion: Health behaviors and characteristics of work environment significantly influence the health status among Korean professional soldiers. Health promotion strategies are needed to change individual heath behaviors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and work stress. A healthier working environment should also be promoted.

  • This study examined which factors were related to the amount of consumer information and the level of consumer satisfaction in electronic commerce. The sample (n= 426) was composed of those who had already engaged in e-commerce. T-test and ANOVA were completed to investigate how the amount of information and the level of satisfaction differ by socioeconomic, internet-related, and purchase-related characteristics of the consumers. The results of this study were as follows: First, consumers who were female and college graduates were more likely to search lots of information in e-commerce. The amount of consumer information was positively related to both the years of internet experiences and the time used on internet per day. Second, consumers who were male, aged on 30s, and who were college graduates with higher incomes were more likely to gather information about product functions, while consumers who were female with less experiences of internet shopping were more likely to consider the brand name. Third, income and education level were positively associated with the level of consumer satisfaction in e-commerce. Those who have experienced lots of purchase in e-commerce were generally satisfied with the shopping in e-commerce. Fourth, the amount of consumer information was positively related to the level of consumer satisfaction, especially satisfaction regarding product qualify and the convenience of shopping in e-commerce.

  • Purpose: This study was to identify factors affecting regular mammography screening behavior of outpatients. The target subjects were 150 women who had visited the breast clinic at the university hospital, and the study period was around 10 months from March to December 2006. Data were analyzed by using $\chi^2$-test, t-test and logistic regression analysis. Results: Of the subjects, 50% experienced mammography and 31.6% took mammography regularly. In the relational analysis between various factors and regular mammography, there were significant differences among the $41{\sim}50$ year old group, the employed group, the high income group, the regular exercise group, the non-drinking group, and the previously x-rayed group. And, in the Logistic Regression analysis, those who preferred bean food were 3.20 times more likely to take mammogram regularly, and those who married were 3.49 times more likely to do than the unmarried. Also, those who had low health belief and who were under age 51 were less likely to take regular mammogram. Conclusion: In order to increase the rate of conducting regular mammography, there must be different intervention strategies according to food habit, marital status and age, and a support system must be devised to increase health belief about breast cancer.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the transformational or transactional leadership styles of Korean dietitians. The study was completed with Korean dietitians (n = 268, $67\%$ response) using mail survey. The leadership styles were divided into transformational (including charisma, intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration) and transactional (contingent reward, management by exception) leadership found in the several literature. Overall, the score of Korean dietitians' transactional leadership was higher than that of the transformational leadership (p < .05). Among three sub-dimensions of the transformational leadership styles, the score of 'individualized consideration' was higher than 'charisma' and 'intellectual stimulation'. Between two sub-dimensions of the transactional leadership styles, Korean dietitians used more 'management-by-exception' than 'contingent reward'. ANOVA results suggested that the transformational leadership was more likely to be used by the younger dietitians, while the transactional leadership was more likely to be used by the older dietitians (p < .05). Data showed that dietitians having 3-6 year dietetic experience used more transformational leadership than other experienced dietitians (p < .05). It was also found that the Korean dietitians' leadership styles were influenced by the type of dietetic practice area. Data showed that 'charisma', 'intellectual stimulation', 'individualized consideration' and 'contingent reward' were more likely to be used by Korean dietitians from school than by dietitians from health. care and industry (p < .05). This study will be useful for dietitians to guide the application of appropriate leadership style in order to increase employees' job satisfaction as well as organizational performance. • This study examined the efficacy of development control in the monitoring of building developments in Kenya, a case study of Kisii Town. It focused on the extent to which the 1968 Building Code was enforced by the County Government of Kisii in an attempt to promote quality assurance. The target population comprised 7,430 residential developments from where a sample size of 364 was proportionately and randomly drawn. Research findings indicated that 39% of developers were unaware that their developments should have been inspected during construction. Similarly, awareness of building inspection significantly predicted if developers issued Notices of Inspection to the planning authority to facilitate inspections. Consequently, developers who were unaware that their building constructions required inspection were 99.9% less likely to issue such notices. Moreover, developers who did not obtain development permission were correspondingly 99.9% less likely to issue Inspection Notices. As a result, those who did not issue Notices of Inspection were 99.8% less likely to have their buildings inspected during construction due to lack of records indicating when such constructions had commenced. The study concludes that although the County Government of Kisii is lawfully mandated to monitor building developments in Kisii Town, the function is not well executed. This gap affords developers with an opportunity of not conforming to the approved building plans.

  • Background: Alzheimer's dementia is the most common dementia. However, recently, choline alfoscerate is prescribed for treating Alzheimer's dementia, although it is not a treatment for this disease. Purpose: To analyze the prescription patterns of choline alfoscerate as a dementia treatment for patients with Alzheimer's disease and to analyze, as well as the factors affecting choline alfoscerate prescription. Method: The 2016 HIRA-NPS data was used in this study. The code of Alzheimer's dementia is F00 in the ICD-10 disease classification code. We analyzed the demographic, clinical, and regional characteristics associated with donepezil, rivastigmine, galantamine, memantine, and choline alfoscerate prescriptions. All statistical and data analyse were conducted by SAS 9.4 and Excel. Results: For patients with Alzheimer's disease, choline alfoscerate was the second most prescribed after donepezil. Analysis results showed that choline alfoscerate was more likely to be prescribed to men than to women, and more likely to be prescribed by local health centers than by medical institutions. Moreover, choline alfoscerate was highly likely to be prescribed at neurosurgical departments, among medical departments. Conclusions: This study confirmed that choline alfoscerate was prescribed considerably for patients with Alzheimer's dementia. Further studies valuating its clinical validity should be performed to clarify whether choline alfoscerate prescription is appropriate for treating Alzheimer's dementia.

  • Objectives: This study was designed to evaluate whether employment status is associated with the experience of unmet care needs. Methods: This study utilized the Korea Health Panel data from 2012 to 2016. A total of 4,083 workers were selected as baseline subjects in 2012 and were followed for four years. This study used the GLIMMIX procedure under the marginal model while adjusting for covariates. Results: A total of 12.4% of 4,083 people said they had failed at least once to have a treatment or checkup despite the needs. Those more likely to experience unmet care needs were women and people of lower income level, with worse health conditions and chronic disease. Precarious workers, the self-employed, and the unemployed were more likely to experience unmet care needs caused by economic burden than permanent workers (Odds Ratio: 2.14, 2.07, 2.74, respectively). Conclusions: This disparity means that precarious workers and the unemployed are more likely to face barriers in obtaining needed health services. Given their insecure employment status, meeting their needs for health care is an important consideration.

  • A great deal of research has explored individuals' attempts to simplify choices by constructing a consideration set. This research aims to investigate which construction strategy, either inclusion or exclusion, is more likely to be adopted and how the adoption of a particular construction strategy can affect consideration set size while identifying the moderating role of chronic indecisiveness in the construction process. The findings of Study 1 indicate that individuals are more likely to adopt an inclusion strategy to reduce a consideration set to a more manageable size, and that an exclusion strategy results in a larger consideration set. In Study 2, the findings reveal that high-indecisiveness individuals are less likely than low-indecisiveness individuals to select an inclusion strategy, but that high-indecisiveness individuals adopting an inclusion strategy are able to reduce the number of alternatives in a consideration set to a manageable size on par with the size of a consideration set formed by low-indecisiveness individuals without elevating the level of perceived difficulty. The current research contributes to the stream of research on consideration set construction and indecisiveness, and offers useful practical implications for overcoming indecisiveness. Limitations and avenues for further research are also discussed.

  • We study the antecedents to tie formation on an (Facebook-like) enterprise social media platform implemented to support cross-boundary connections. Research has produced mixed findings regarding the role of social media in cultivating bridging vs. closed networks. We examine the tie formation patterns of 1,386 enterprise social media users over a two-year period. Specifically, we observe who became (or chose not s become) "friends" with whom at the dyadic level and relate the decisions to various mechanisms that affect one's network to expand, constrain, or bridge. Using logistic and OLS regressions, we find that users tend to form ties via reciprocity and transitivity (with friends of friends), both of which help expand one's network. We also find strong networking tendency toward functional and hierarchical homophily (same business unit and same rank, respectively), which is likely to constrain one's network (closed network structure). We find that one's participation in various online interest groups is likely to open one's network (bridging network structure) while no evidence found for preferential attachment. Overall, we find that enterprise social media offers features, some of which are likely to foster bridging while others foster closed networks via different mechanisms.

  • This study aims to identify factors that affect the quality of life of rural residents. Data were collected from 4,000 rural residents living in rural areas. Raw data was procured from the 'Survey on Rural Well-being in 2022 in Rural Development Administration'. The main results of the ordinal logit regression analysis are as follows. First, in the case of non-farm households, female, immigrants, more educated, more healthy are more likely to be highly perceived quality of life. In the case of full-time farm households, more healthy are more likely to be highly perceived quality of life. In the case of part-time farm households, younger, married, more healthy are more likely to be highly perceived quality of life. Second, for all rural housholds(non-farmers, full-time farmers, and part-time farmers), local amenities and safety also had positive impact on perception of quality of life.
