  • The more deeply the researches make progress in ocean researches including the seabed resource investigation or the oceanic ecosystem investigation, the more important the role of UUV gets. In case of study on the deep sea, there are difficulties in telecommunications between AUV and ships, and in data communication and recharging. Therefore, docking is required. In AUV docking system, the AUV should identify the position of docking device and make contact with a certain point of docking device. MOERI (Maritime & Ocean Engineering Research Institute), KORDI has conducted the docking testing on AUV ISIMI in KORDI ocean engineering water tank. As AUV ISIMI approachs the docking device, there is some cases of showing an unstable attitude, because the lights which is on Image Frame are disappeared. So we propose the docking algorithm that is fixing the rudder and stem, if the lights on image frame are reaching the specific area in the Image Frame. Also we propose the new docking device, which has a variety of position and light number. In this paper, we intend to solve the some cases of showing an unstable attitude that were found in the testing, which, first, will be identified the validity via simulation.

  • In this paper we collect data concerning sleep environments in a bedroom and analyze the relationship between the collected condition data and sleep. In addition, this paper detects scene changes from the subjects in a sleeping state and presents the physical conditions, reactions during sleep, and physical sensations and stimuli. To detect scene changes in image sequences, we used color histogram for the difference between the preceding frame and the current frame. In addition, to extract the tossing and turning for different situations, the subjects were instructed to enter the level of fatigue, the level of drinking, and the level of stomach emptiness. For the sleep experiment system, we used the H-MOTE2420 Sensor composed of temperature, humidity, and light sensors. This paper is intended to provide the best sleep environment that enhances sleep quality, thus inducing people today to get regular and comfortable sleep.

  • This paper presents map creation algorithm and initial attitude estimation method for the proposed optical head tracker system. The optical head tracker system consists of the IR stereo cameras and infrared LEDs as features on the helmet. In order for the stereo camera to track the luminous LEDs, it must take in to account the light radiation from the LEDs to determine the position of the center points. The proposed map creation algorithm makes map data about the position of features center points on the helmet frame. Also, initial attitude estimation method is proposed to estimate the initial attitude and position of a pilot head from the camera frame by the use of the feature pattern on the helmet. Therefore, the head motion can be expressed with respect to the body frame of a flight.

  • Titanum and its alloys have been used as the important materials of eyewear frame because of its light weight, mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. This study investigated the characteristics of P-Ti and ${\alpha}$+${\beta}$-Ti alloys in accordance with joining conditions by electric resistance brazing. Hardness of P-Ti and ${\alpha}$+${\beta}$-Ti has been reduced because of an increase of grain size by the growth of brazing current. Especially, hardness reduction was largely appeared in P-Ti than ${\alpha}$+${\beta}$-Ti. It was considered that a little decrease of hardness in ${\alpha}$+${\beta}$-Ti was due to formation of detailed ${\alpha}$+${\beta}$ lamella.

  • Characteristics analysis and species identification of post were carried out in four old traditional wooden frame houses in Cheongdo-gun. The diameter and height of post, and distance between posts are related with each other. It was considered that the traditional wooden frame houses were constructed according to the diameter and height of post as a basic dimension in distance between posts. Of the wood member samples obtained in the site, softwoods in three old houses and hardwoods in one old house were separated through light microscopy. The hardwoods were found to be Castanea crenata. and softwoods were all identified as Pinus densiflora.

  • In this paper, we propose a multiple slot reservation scheme to transmit data rapidly in the satellite random access channel. In the R-CRDSA (Reservation scheme with Contention Resolution Diversity Slotted ALOHA), each satellite terminal can use only one slot in a frame. Therefore, many slots are wasting in the low traffic load and the satellite terminals which have large date needs many frame to transmit their data although there are unused slots. In the multiple slot reservation scheme, each satellite terminal transmits a packet with their data size and reserves many slots in the light of data size and slot reservation status. Therefore, each satellite terminal transmits their data faster than R-CRDSA. This is because they can reserve many slots in a frame. Furthermore, we simulate proposed scheme and validate the performance of proposed scheme.

  • LCD robot vertical frame lets a arm assembly with glass substrate move up and down, so it must have high stiffness and strength. We applied new manufacturing process by using design optimization process such as topology and size optimization in order to satisfy the request of high stiffness and light weight. The proposed model should be evaluated for endurance strength. Therefore fatigue assessment for weak point of aluminum welding area of vertical frame studied with hot spot stress approach. And the actual stress measuring from test was compared and evaluated with the dynamic stress calculated from multi-body dynamics considering flexible body.

  • "Performance-based design (PBD)" is based on designing a structure with choosing a performance target under design criteria to increase the structure's resistance against earthquake effect. The plastic hinge formation is determined as one of the fundamental data in finite elements nonlinear analysis to distinguish the condition of the structure where more significant potential damage could occur. If the number of plastic hinges in the structure is increased, the total horizontal load capability of the structure is increased, also. Theoretically, when the number of plastic hinges of the plane frame structure reaches "the degree of hyperstaticity plus one", the structure will reach the capability of the largest ultimate horizontal load. As the number of plastic hinges to be formed in the structure increases towards the theoretical plastic hinge number (TPHN), the total horizontal load capability of the structure increases, proportionally. In the previous studies of the authors, the features of examining the new performance criteria were revealed and it was formulated as follows "Increase the total number of plastic hinges to be formed in the structure to the number of theoretical plastic hinges as much as possible and keep the structure below its targeted performance with related codes". With this new performance criterion, it has been shown that the total lateral load capability of the building is higher than the total lateral load capability obtained with the traditional PBD method by the FEMA 440 and FEMA 356 design guides. In this study, PBD analysis results of structures with frame carrier systems are presented in the light of the Turkey Building Earthquake Code 2019. As a result of this study, it has been shown that the load capability of the structure in the examples of structures with frame carrier system increases by using this new performance criterion presented, compared to the results of the examination with the traditional PBD method in TBEC 2019.

  • This research was carried out to evaluate and raise the energy efficiency of wood frame house. The commercial solution program CE3 (Construction Energy Efficiency Evaluation) was used for simulating the energy consumption in the single-family wood frame house. The results showed that the annual heating energy demand of the house was 160 kWh per 1 $m^2$ floor area. In order to decrease the heating energy demand, the following energy efficiency methods were applied to the simulation : a) simplification of building shape, b) decrease of windows area, c) application of high performance windows (with low thermal transmittance) and d) application of heat recovery ventilator. In case of replacement of the windows with high performance one with thermal transmittance 1 $W/m^2{\cdot}K$, the lowest heating demand of 80 $kWh/m^2{\cdot}a$ was obtained. The best combination of methods, application of high performance windows and heat recovery ventilator, showed heating energy demand 34.5 $kWh/m^2{\cdot}a$.

  • The aim of this study is to review phenomenological characteristics in Steven Holl's architecture through his design of St. Ignatius Chapel at Seattle University. To obtain this purpose, an analytical frame based on Holl's theory of phenomenological architecture is suggested to have a systematic study for St. Ignatius chapel. This chapel can be a good example of phenomenological architecture in that it is based on the concept of 'A Gathering of Different Lights' related to phenomenology and considered perception including multi sensory (as well as vision) as primary factors from site and program interpretation to spatial configuration. Unprecedented exterior of St. Ignatius chapel reflected on characteristics and function of rooms to magnify user's spatial experiences through inducing natural light and spatial effect. Holl used various openings and screen for natural light with colors to invoke religious inspiration. He also try to give spatial depth and multi foci for experiencing space through various ceiling forms. These phenomenological features originated in client's strong will as well as appropriateness of the function of facility's religious experiences through building to the purpose of phenomenological architecture.
