This experiment was conducted to investigate the seasonal fluctuation of population density and the life history of Adoxophyes sp .. Under field-cage conditions, smaller tea tortrix had 4-5 generations a year. The average periods from egg to adult emergence were 43.7 days in spring and fall, and 35.2 days in summer. The average longevity of adults was 7.0 days in spring and fall, and 6.3 days in summer. The average numbers of egg masses and eggs laid by a female were 1.8 and 40.4 m spring and fall, and 2.3 and 49.5 in summer, respectively. Population density of smaller tea tortrix estimated by sex pheromone trap and light trap showed four peaks in each late May, late June, middle August and late September. The number of individuals caught by sex pheromone trap was 2~4 times as large as that by jight trap. Smaller tea tartrix overwimered in larval stage in southern region af Korea.

Adult mosquito surveillance was conducted from 2013 through 2014 at four cattle sheds, a wild bird refuge, and two residential areas located in Gyeongnam Province in the Republic of Korea. Adult mosquitoes were collected in black light traps from April 1, through November 30. Mosquito surveillance was conducted to figure out population densities of vector mosquitoes, possibly invaded mosquitoes and identify various virus infections at the selected sites. A total of 107,466 females comprising 14 species and 7 genera were collected from 2013 to 2014. The most common species collected were Culex tritaeniorhynchus Giles (63.8%), Anopheles sinensis s.l. (18.9%), Aedes vexans nipponii (Theobald) (7.7%), and Culex pipiens Coquillett (5.1%). Trap indices (TIs) varied widely for species over their range, due to geographical distribution and degree of association with rural and urban communities. The most collected An. sinensiss.l. and Cx. tritaeniorhynchus appeared at a cow shed in Hapcheon (TI 347.5) and a pigsty in Daejeo-1-dong, Busan (TI 1,040.8), respectively, due in part to their situation near breeding sites such as rice paddies. The bi-weekly population densities for mosquito species were variable for each of the years, apparently as a result of variable annual weather conditions. None of the mosquito species collected tested for the flavivirus including Japanese Encephalitis Virus, West Nile Virus, Dengue Virus, and Zika Virus infections by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay were positive.
An investigation of fauna and community of insects in Gotjawal Terrain, Jeju-do, had been conducted with a way of black light trap from July to September, 2005. The investigated insects were classified into 217 species, 75 families, and 11 orders respectively. Coleoptera that occupied 55.3 percent among them and was consisted of 120 species was the richest group and Hemiptera followed it. The density of Physopelta gutta was highest but Physopelta cincticollis was overall the dominant species in all sampling areas. The species diversity index was highest at Jocheon-Hamdeog Gotjawal in Jeju-do, while it was lowest in Gujwa-Sungsan Gotjawal. Clustering analysis revealed that the insect communities of four localities were grouped in only one cluster. Included in the species unreported in Jeju Island were Menida musiva and Pentatoma japonica in Hemiptera, Philonthus wuesthoffi in Coleoptera, and Phanerotoma flava in Hymenoptera.
The study of insect fauna in Taeanhaean National Park in Korea began with the first survey of natural resources in 1996, and then the surveys were conducted seasonally from 2005 to 2014. The surveyed sites were mostly coastal areas, sand dunes, and back grasslands. Insects were collected by sweeping with insect net, suction, pitfall trap, light trap, and Malaise trap. As a result, a total of 1,540 species of 215 families belonging to 17 orders were identified. Lepidoptera was the most populous group at 34.2% and followed by Coleoptera at 28.3%, Hemiptera at 12.7%, Diptera at 8.5%, Hymenoptera at 7.1%, Orthoptera at 4.7%, Odonata at 2.0%, and others. The analysis of change of arenaceous insect fauna before and after the accident by the Hebei Spirit that spilt oil in Taean in December 2007 showed that 45 arenaceous insect species, mostly belonging to Coleoptera, were observed through the whole survey period. The impact of oil spill on the number of arenaceous insect species appearing in the area was minor.
Pentacene films, grown on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates, were doped with Iodine. ESR measurements were made for the films in the temperature range of 100-300 K. Two regimes of doping stages were discernible: a light (intercalation) doping regime and a heavy doping regime. The light doping regime was concluded to be dominated by localized holes that were trapped at low temperatures, which indicated trap states near the valence band edge.

AC electrical properties of organic light-emitting diodes with poly(2-methoxy-5-(2'-ethyl-hexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene) (MEH-PPV), poly[2,5-bia(dimethyloctylsilyl)-1,4-phenylenevinylene] (BDMOS-PPV), and tris-(8-hydroxyquinolate)-aluminum $(AlQ_3)$ as light-emitting materials are studied. The frequency-dependent real and imaginary parts of impedance were fitted using an equivalent circuit. We found that the conduction mechanism is a space-charge limited current with exponential trap distribution.
The species composition, population density, and seasonal prevalence of vector mosquitoes in an inland area of Kyungoook Province were studied, based on light trap and human bait trap collections, and the recent patterns of infestation for infective larvae of Brugia malayi in these vector hosts were investigated from May to November in 1985. Nine species in four genera of mosquitoes were collected by light trap, human bait trap, and/or by nets. Anopheles sinensis Wiedemann was the most abundant species collected by light traps during this year. Culex tritaeniorhynchus Giles was the second abundant species, and Aedes vexans nipponii (Theobald) ranked third in total abundance. The earlist time when A. sinensis were found was the middle of May. At that time the temperature ranged from $14.3^{circ}{\;}to{\;}22.8^{\circ}C$ and the humidity 53~90 per cent. The month of highest average nightly catch was July, when the temperature was between $21.5^{circ}{\;}and{\;}30.6^{\circ}C$ and the humidity 72~91 per cent. The peak time of biting activity of mosquitoes was different in each month, i.e. between 22:00~23:00 in July, and 20:00"-'21:00 hours in September, when the temperature was between $24.3^{circ}{\;}and{\;}26.5^{\circ}C$ and the humidity 73~88 per cent in the field. While infective larvae of B. malayi were reported to have been found in one species of mosquito in 1975, no larvae were found in any species collected in this survey.
The need for an efficient sampling technique to collect aquatic organisms has risen with the increase of interest in rice paddy fields, which have been recognized as important ecosystems supporting biodiversity. In the present study, a submerged funnel trap used with the assistance of attracting agents (fish meal and chemical light) was designed as an easy, objective and quantitative tool for collecting aquatic organisms in the rice paddy fields. The preference for collecting aquatic organisms as a means for attracting agents was analyzed using a generalized linear mixed model. Also, based on the data of previous research, we compared the community composition of the aquatic macroinvertebrates, which were collected using the quadrat method, and newly designed submerged funnel traps, by analyzing non-metric multidimensional scaling. The results showed that the catching efficiency of 18 of the total 65 taxa was affected by the attracting agents. 12 taxa including Pomacea canaliculata, Hippeutis cantori, Austropeplea ollula, Erpobdella lineata, Ostracoda spp. Branchinella kugenumaensis, Hydaticus grammicus, Rhantus pulverosus, Chironomidae spp., Rana nigromaculata, Cobitidae spp. etc., favored fish meal and 6 taxa including Ischnura asiatica, Coenagrionidae spp. Sternolophus rufipes etc., were attracted by chemical light. The submerged funnel trap used as a measurement tool for biodiversity was less applicable than the quadrat method; however, it was more effective for the selective collection of specific taxa. We expect that this newly designed trap can be a simple and quantitative method for collecting aquatic organisms, and could be used for long term and extensive surveys in rice paddy fields in the future.
Seasonal fluctuations in density of mosquito species were investigated at two cow sheds near to a large, reedy marsh with fairly polluted brackish water near the coast of Yongam-ri, Cheongryang-myon, Ulsan, Korea. Female mosquitoes were collected biweekly using Nozawa light traps from March to September, from 1999 to 2001. On average, 4,416.1, 5,505.9 and 6,863.8 females per trap night were collected from 10 species in 5 genera in 1999, 2000 and 2001, respectively. Among them, An. sinensis was most abundant (53.4% in species ratio), followed by Cx. tritaeniorhynchus (43.0%), Cx. inatomii (1.6%), Ochlerotatus dorsalis (1.3%) and Cx. pipiens pallens (0.5%). A malaria vector, An. sinensis and a Japanese encephalitis vector, Cx. tritaeniorhynchus were collected 3,663.3 females and 3,142.5 females per trap night from June to September for the years, respectively. According to the biweekly population changes at the area, Cx. inatomii which was dominant species in 1997, was the most abundant in the early July during 1999-2001.
A new monstrilloid species belonging to the genus $Cymbasoma$ is described as a preliminary result from nocturnal surveys using a light trap on the east and south coasts of South Korea. Monstrilloid copepods are first recorded in South Korea. $Cymbasoma$$striifrons$ n. sp. resembles $C.$$striatum$ (Isaac, 1974) and $C.$$tumorifrons$ Isaac, 1975 in sharing the character combination of transverse striations on forehead, somewhat small body (generally slightly less or longer than 1 mm), single lobed leg 5 bearing a short medial seta in female, and smooth lateral margin of anal somite without notch and wrinkles. However, $C.$$striifrons$ n. sp. differs from $C.$$striatum$ by relatively short and swollen cephalothorax, and rather strongly wrinkled genital somite. $Cymbasoma$$striifrons$ n. sp. is also distinguished from $C.$$tumorifrons$ in lacking a rounded protuberance on anterior margin of ventral surface and by relatively short cephalothorax and the number of ventral nipple-like processes on cephalothorax. Herein the new species is described and illustrated, with some comments on the morphological comparison with its allied species.
