  • This paper proposes a novel combined compensation structure in the infrared receiver chip. For the infrared communication chip, the current-voltage (I-V) convert circuit is crucial and important. The circuit is composed by the transimpedance amplifier (TIA) and the combined compensation structures. The TIA converts the incited photons into photocurrent. In order to amplify the photocurrent and avoid the saturation, the TIA uses the combined compensation circuit. This novel compensation structure has the low frequency compensation and high frequency compensation circuit. The low frequency compensation circuit rejects the low frequency photocurrent in the ambient light preventing the saturation. The high frequency compensation circuit raises the high frequency input impedance preserving the sensitivity to the signal of interest. This circuit was implemented in a $0.6{\mu}m$ BiCMOS process. Simulation of the proposed circuit is carried out in the Cadence software, with the 3V power supply, it achieves a low frequency photocurrent rejection and the gain keeps 109dB ranging from 10nA to $300{\mu}A$. The test result fits the simulation and all the results exploit the validity of the circuit.

  • Chinese is a topic-prominent language, so when we learn Chinese we should know the discourse function of the Chinese language. Most of the Korean student think Chinese sentences should appear in the order of S-V-O and they always make mistakes when they use Chinese. I think Korean is very similar with Chinese in the discourse function. Hence, in this paper, I try to find a method of teaching Chinese topic sentence. It does so by comparing Chinese with Korean in the light of discourse function. I think when Korean student know how to use Korean topic sentence to explain the discourse functions of the Chinese language, they will not make similar mistakes. With this understanding in mind, chapter 2 tries to show various topic sentences to prove that 'topic' is very important in Chinese sentences. This is why we say Chinese is a topic-prominent language. In chapter 3, I analysis the sentences that students made, and highlight the reasons why they made mistake. The result lies in the reason whereby they always think Chinese should appear in the order of S-V-O. They do not understand why some sentences appear in the order of O-(S)V or S-O-V. It show that they do not know what is topic sentence and do not know how to make topic sentences. Sometime I have them translate them into Korean, but they also make Korean sentences like in the order of Chinese S-V-O. Therefore, I think, under this circumstance, to let them to translate and to speak in Korean in topic sentence, get some feelings about Chinese topic sentences, and tell and make Chinese topic sentences are naturally critical in their training.

  • Ti-Bi alloy was prepared by arc melting of appropriate amounts of titanium and bismuth powder. The photocurrent($I_{ph}$) of Ti-Bi oxide electrode was increased with the increase of Bi content, up to 10wt%. The maximum $I_{ph}$ showed $7.6mA/cm^2$ at V=0.5V vs. SCE. The band gap energy of Ti-Bi oxide electrode was observed to 3.0~2.87eV. Surface barrier($V_s$) of Ti-10Bi oxide electrode showed maximum value(1.08V) but didn't exceed 1.23V, then it was impossible to run $H_2$ generation without any other energy sources other than the light. Ti-Bi oxide electrode was found to be quite stable under alkaline solution and showed no signs of photodecomposition.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the marginal leakage of composite resin. Preparing 144 class V cavities on freshly extracted noncarious teeth, composite resins were prepared and inserted by one dentist according to the manufacturer's instructions. The experiments were performed in two different groups; In group I; Class V cavities with $90^{\circ}$ cavosurface angle, In group II; Class V cavities with $135^{\circ}$ cavosurface angle. And each group was divided 2 subgroups; In control group; composite resin restoraions without acid etch technique. In experimental group; composite resin restorations with acid etch technique. All specimens were immersed in 0.05% crystal violet solution. Before examination, the restored teeth were subjected to thermal stress. The specimens were sectioned occlusogingivally through the center of the restorations with a diamond disk. The sections were examined under a reflected light microscope at 1 day, 7 days and 30 days after immersing the specimens in dye solution. The results were as follows; 1. Control group of group I and group II showed marginal leakage. 2. The degree of marginal leakage in experimental group was greater reduced than control group. 3. In control group, the degree of marginal leakage in group I was greater than group II. 4. In experimental group, there is not statistical differences of the degree of marginal leakage between group I & group II.

  • A total of 824 observations (206 in ${\Delta}B$, 206 in ${\Delta}V$, 206 in ${\Delta}R$, 206 in ${\Delta}I$ for CC Com were made on 3 nights from March 3 to April 3 in 2002 using the 61cm telescope with 2K CCD camera of the Sobaeksan Optical Astronomy Observatory of KASI. From our observations 9 times of minimum light were newly determined. Combined analysis of our new BVRI light curves with the double-lined radial velocity curves of Pribulla et al. (2007) were made with the 2004 Wilson-Devinney(WD) binary model code to yield new physical parameters of the CC Com system. Small asymmetries in light curves were explained with the adoption of two hot spots on the cool secondary.

  • The paper reviews data available on euglenophycean algae of the genus Eutreptiella from the Russian waters of East/Japan Sea. Five species (such as E. braarudii, E. eupharyngea, E. gymnastica, E. cf. marina, and E. pascheri) were identified in our study. E. cf. marina and E. pascheri were found for the first time in the fare astern seas of Russia (including East/Japan Sea, Bering and Okhotsk seas). Morphological descriptions of species are based on light and electron microscopical studies and supplied with information on ecology and distribution. Original micrographs of these species obtained by light and electron microscopy are presented. It was established that E. eupharyngea, E. gymnastica, and E. pascheri cause water "blooms" in spring and summer in eutrophic coastal areas of Peter the Great Bay (East/Japan Sea), where their cell concentrations at these periods exceed $1\times10^6\;cells\;l^{-1}$.

  • UBV observations of VV Cep were made in 1988-1992 as a part of the Ten-year Observing Program for Long Period Eclipsing Binary Stars(1982-1992) at Yonsei University Observatory. In addition to these the observations in the longer passbands in R and I are also made in the 1991-1992 season at the same observatory. Atmospheric extinction coefficinets determined by a comparison star 20 Cap for B and V each night have been deduced a linear relation, $K_B$=0.159+1.066kV. In this paper, light curves of this star in BVRI passbands for the 1991-1992 season only are presented. Two periodic light variations of both long-term and short-term are found as for 90 days and 20 days, respectively.

  • We perform CCD observations in VRI filters for AK Her during 3 nights in Feb 1997 and Mar 1998 at Mt. Sobaek National Observatory, and obtained 236 images in V, 198 in R, and 197 in I filter. From the data, we construct light curves which contain a pair primary and secondary minima and (O-C) diagram. We analyzed the obtained light curves of AK Her using the Wilson-Devinney code. From the analyses, we find that AK Her is more likely detached or semi-detached than contact system. From the (O-C) diagram, we find that the (O-C) residuals increases out of accordance with the expectation of Borkovits & Hegedus since 1990. However, we cannot identify cause of the periodic variation of the (O-C) residuals.

  • In lighting system where several large-area organic light-emitting diode (OLED) lighting panels are involved, panel aging may appear differently from each other, resulting in a falling-off in lighting quality. To achieve uniform light output across large-area OLED lighting panels, we have employed an optical feedback circuit. Light output from each OLED panel is monitored by the optical feedback circuit that consists of a photodiode, I-V converter, 10-bit analogdigital converter (ADC), and comparator. A photodiode generates current by detecting OLED light from one side of the glass substrate (i.e., edge emission). Namely, the target luminance from the emission area (bottom emission) of OLED panels is monitored by current generated from the photodiode mounted on a glass edge. To this end, we need to establish a mapping table between the ADC value and the luminance of bottom emission. The reference ADC value corresponds to the target luminance of OLED panels. If the ADC value is lower or higher than the reference one (i.e., when the luminance of OLED panel is lower or higher than its target luminance), a micro controller unit (MCU) adjusts the pulse width modulation (PWM) used for the control of the power supplied to OLED panels in such a way that the ADC value obtained from optical feedback is the same as the reference one. As such, the target luminance of each individual OLED panel is unchanged. With the optical feedback circuit included in the lighting system, we have observed only 2% difference in relative intensity of neighboring OLED panels.
