This paper aims to propose teaching plans based on individual learner's experience and from a cross-cultural viewpoint by applying Currere as a method of Korean life-culture education. Current Korean culture education programs are not systematic, and are being executed without differentiation from language education. Thus, this study proposes Korean life-culture teaching plans based on the method of Currere. We suggested Currere teaching-learning stages and strategies for Korean language learners by adapting Pinar's and Jeong Seong-a's method of Currere. The Currere teaching-learning stages consisted of introduction, regression, progression, theme analysis, data analysis, group discussion, and integration. Although the method of Currere is implemented through autobiographic writing, this study added the strategies of 'personal experience telling' and 'schema utilization and background knowledge provision'. In order to enhance the applicability of Currere to Korean life-culture education, we suggested teaching plans for the theme of "How to dispose rubbish" as an example. We suggested detailed teaching plans that teachers can apply in the actual classroom. We expect that these teaching plans may be applied to actual classes so that Korean culture education may not be limited to the acquisition of knowledge, but be linked to their real life.
This study was aimed to find out ancestral environmental protection wisdom in their life style, and to teach environmental education applying its results in primary school. A dissertation survey was conducted to analyze environmental protection eco-wisdom, environmental education about traditional culture, application of indigenous knowledge in ancestral traditional culture for environmental education in the primary school, and Korean traditional culture presented in 5th grade subject courses of the 7th school curricula. In addition, a environmental education program was developed by applying wisdom of traditional life style and the strategy of environmental education utilizing the results from the above data in primary school was explored. It was found that students understand the value of environment education and are more interested in the ancestral life style, environmental protection wisdom from traditional culture. Also, students understand the ancestral thinking in environment, the wisdom of old Korean, and the importance of echo-wisdom related on traditional culture. Based on above results, the suggestions of this study are made as follows. First, by searching for more wisdom from traditional culture vigorously, it is needed that developing more teaching text combined environmental education with traditional culture through other curriculums. In addition, for this kind of teaching being used efficiently in another schools, the place and environmental teaching aid is needed.
The purpose of this study is to clarify the perception and educational needs of international college students regarding the culture of college life. A questionnaire was given to international college students who are studying at universities in Korea. The results showed that international college students need to study about the culture of college life and had a perception that it is desirable to learn this through general education classes or freshman subjects after entering university. Also, the culture of college life can be divided into nine categories: bachelor's system; career and employment; university support centers and systems; interpersonal relations; departmental events; housing and living expenses; freshmen's events; exchange activities and programs; and cultural experience activities. International college students showed higher learning needs in order of career and employment; cultural experience activity; and bachelor's system. In addition, the characteristics of the learners showed different educational needs according to year of study and Korean language proficiency. The significance of this study is to specify the items of the culture of college life required for international college students, to measure the validity and reliability of these items, and to categorize the elements of the culture of college life.
This study was to identify the effects of education on Korean foods preferred by elementary students and their sustainability. A survey was conducted on 5th-grade elementary school students. Korean food preferences were classified by exploratory factor analysis as creative, healthy, or considerate, and the effects of education on Korean dietary life were classified as cognitive or emotional. Dietary life sustainability was evaluated separately. Results showed that creative and considerate preferences had significant impacts on cognitive and emotional education effects and that a healthy preference type significantly impacted the emotional effect of education. Analysis showed that creative and considerate food preference types significantly influenced dietary life sustainability and that cognitive and emotional education effects mediated these relationships. Sex was not found to have a significant moderating effect. The study shows that Korean dietary life sustainability is influenced by education on topics that promote the value and excellence of Korean food and suggests that experiential education combining practice and theory should be used to increase interest in Korean food among elementary students. Additional studies are required to determine Korean food preferences to facilitate the development of a dietary life education program that enables students to understand and maintain healthy dietary practices.
In this study, data was collected on the dietary life education at elementary schools according to the Food Education Support Act using elementary school teachers as subjects. A survey was conducted on 258 elementary school teachers at seven elementary schools located in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Daegu, Korea from April 14-17, 2010. Most teachers reported that dietary life education was very much needed. The appropriate individuals to teach dietary life education were nutrition teachers, charge teachers, and dietary life education tutors, in that order. The most appropriate time to conduct dietary life education was during dietary life-related subject hours, dietary life education hours, food service hours, and discretionary and extracurricular activities, in that order. The most effective materials and methods used for dietary life education were projection materials and dietary life-related special lectures. Efficient dietary life education methods can be used to develop dietary life education programs. Based on these results, elementary school teachers recognize that dietary life education is very much needed and believe that it would be desirable to conduct dietary life education using nutrition teachers in cooperation with other related teachers.
The purpose of this study is to seek improvement in clothing life education through a development and application of the clothing life education program for middle schools based on the education and experience in arts & culture. On the basis of art & culture education as well as, Dewey's experience, the clothing life area education program was designed and developed for the 2nd year students in the middle school. This program was applied to 350 students of 9 2nd year classes in M middle school during the 17 periods of clothing life area classes, beginning from May 23rd, 2011 and lasting to September 30th, 2011. The leaner-evaluation was performed in terms of the level of learning interest and academic achievement. To measure the level of academic achievement, a mind-map evaluation was performed and a learning effect survey, which evaluates the level of achievement of learning objectives, was carried out. For the purpose of class observation, classes were filmed and analyzed. Characteristics of a class were recorded on a teacher's diary and was used to support the qualitative evaluation. According to the results, the education program is analyzed as being helpful and useful in student understanding of fiber, textile and, clothes, which are materials and outcomes of culture and art; moreover, they have a historical, cultural and artistic value in themselves. It is also analyzed as being helpful for the development of student aesthetic sensibility and emotion, for the construction of meaningful experience through a learning process, for the improvement of learning interest and the level of academic achievement, and for the positive recognition of the learning effect.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to develop a textbook of the integrated education of Korean food culture and language for married female immigrants. Methods: An analysis was conducted with the textbooks and researches for married female immigrants, and dietary life related contents were extracted. The contents were organized by activity oriented approach which is acquired the culture. The evaluation was conducted through depth interview with 6 married female immigrants through an analysis of the qualitative materials. Results: The text book comprised of 30 Korean food recipes with the target expressions and vocabularies. It also included Korean basic table setting, Korean table manner, main dishes and side dishes, basic cutting, seasoning and garnish, measure of the ingredients, symbolic food, regional food culture, choice of food ingredients, shopping, bargaining, taste expression, color expression, all sorts of spices, Korean traditional festival food, and seasonal customs and food. For intensifying communication, activity which is close to real life was added. Through cooking, married female immigrants expose words and sentence patterns and that allows to evaluate their level of understanding. We observed that the developed textbook is suited for married female immigrants' needs and cognitive level. The text book included a comparative study between Korean culture and their country's culture, which could provide the motive for accepting each other's cultures. The study showed how to develop a textbook that integrates Korean language education and Korean food culture and how to apply the textbook in real life. Conclusions: The correct understanding about Korean food culture could lead to improvements communication ability. Useful information which relates to Korean food, recipes, and food culture could increase daily life satisfaction. Conducting both cultural education and language education could increase the participation of married female immigrants in learning activities. Therefore this study could help these females to adapt Korean society and manage family dietary life effectively.
The main purpose of this study is to investigate foreigners' perception regarding Korean business culture and Korean business culture education. People who participated in this study are six foreign workers after studying at the university or graduate school in Korea. A phenomenological qualitative research method was used in this study in order to elicit life experiences from foreign workers who were working in Korea business companies. Therefore, their experience regarding Korean business culture and business culture education were measured by in-depth interviews. This study shows that nun-chi, vertical relationships, and impatience of Koreans are the most difficult culture to foreign workers. They also feel difficulties regarding Koreans' lack of understanding about other cultures. Moreover, these were not difficult components within school life; rather, the most difficult aspects were that they have never learned about the Korean business culture before getting a job. The results show that international students who want to work in Korea companies need to study about the culture of Korean business and revealed the desirability to learn. These results can be used as a foundation for understanding some contents and criterion of Korean business culture and education.

We investigated youth's awareness of traditional clothing culture in order to promote it, and we developed and applied the Teaching-Learning process related to clothing life chapters. We analyzed 12 types of high school freshman textbooks under the revised $7^{th}$ national curriculum and selected 5 major subjects of learning 'traditional culture', 'History of Han-bok', 'colors of Han-bok', 'pattern & material of Han-bok', 'globalization of Han-bok' related to 'change of home life & culture' chapter. Also we developed 5-period Teaching-Learning Lesson Plan and 48-teaching materials(22 for students, 22 - for classes, 4 for teachers) and applied it to usual classes. The mean score of youth's awareness of traditional clothing culture in the post-test was significantly higher than in the pre-test. We concluded it was highly efficient in the youth's awareness of traditional clothing culture as right awareness about traditional clothing life culture, acceptance of foreign culture, positive attitude in traditional culture. Awareness about traditional clothing culture education was improved significantly, so we recognized importance of traditional culture education through it. We suggest that various themes on traditional culture should be developed and more reinforced. Also we need various traditional culture succession research as field of food life, house life and study Korea's cultural heritage.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the 'Pleasant Life' textbook in the elementary school focused on the perspective of ethnocentrism and cultural relativism. The first- and second-grade textbook 'Pleasant Life' of the revised 2007 national curriculum was made to serve build up sound body and mind through activities and play together with different products and life culture which is associated with multicultural education. But in the global world that is changing to the multicultural area, the textbook 'Pleasant Life' has a tendency to not to be satisfied this current needs. The analysis criterion is made up six elements: understanding culture, self-identify, human equality, conquest of prejudice and collaboration. The results of analysis on contents related to the multicultural education in the elementary 'Pleasant Life' textbook for the 1st and 2nd grade are follows. The first, in the plenty of images and pictures, there are not diverse races in the textbook. Yellow race naturally command an overwhelming majority in the textbook images and pictures. Second, the 'Pleasant Life' has a few multicultural contents and if teacher would not have will for teaching multicultural contents, he can't teach multicultural education. Third, 'Pleasant Life' textbook has overmuch ethnocentrism contents which is expressed traditional play and folk songs. These contents lead to exclusiveness for other culture to students. In conclusion, it is needed to grow concerns for multicultural education and the national curriculum should offer precise guidelines on the direction and standards of multicultural education.
