  • Background: The current status of ACE format MCNP/MCNPX libraries by NDC of KAERI is presented with a short description of each library. Materials and Methods: Validation calculations with recent nuclear data evaluations ENDF/BV-II. 0, ENDF/B-VII.1, JEFF-3.2, and JENDL-4.0 have been carried out by the MCNP5 code for 119 criticality benchmark problems taken from the expanded criticality validation suite supplied by LANL. The overall performances of the ACE format KN-libraries have been analyzed in comparison with the results calculated with the ENDF/B-VII.0-based ENDF70 library of LANL. Results and Discussion: It was confirmed that the ENDF/B-VII.1-based KNE71 library showed better performances than the others by comparing the RMS errors and ${chi}^2$ values for five benchmark categories as well as whole benchmark problems. ENDF/B-VII.1 and JEFF-3.2 have a tendency to yield more reliable MCNP calculation results within certain confidence intervals regarding the total uncertainties for the $k_{eff}$ values. Conclusion: It is found that the adoption of the latest evaluated nuclear data might ensure better outcomes in various research and development areas.

  • This paper aims to determine the impact of knowledge creation and sharing on use by librarians in federal universities in Nigeria. The study adopted the survey method of the correlation type, where 518 librarians were surveyed through a close-ended questionnaire, descriptive statistics, Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient and multiple regression were used to test the hypotheses. Findings indicate that significant relationships exist between knowledge creation and knowledge sharing (r=0.52), knowledge sharing and knowledge use (r=0.63) and knowledge creation and knowledge use (r=0.52), respectively. Knowledge created and shared by the librarians is used for better work performance. The paper adds value to the existing body of knowledge by proposing the need to understand the importance of knowledge creation and sharing as facilitators of knowledge use by librarians. This will, in turn, enhance service delivery to library patrons, thereby improving library patronage. This paper is limited to knowledge creation and sharing and its impact on knowledge use. Types of knowledge created and channels through which knowledge is shared are outside the focus of this article.

  • This study analyzed the procedures and contents of digitalization of sinological resources owned by major sinological resource institutes in Korea. It investigated the united organizations that use such sinological resources It also assessed governmental policies and future Plans for digitalization of sinological resources. Finally, it proposed steps and conditions necessary for successful digitalization of sinological resources. (1) The level of digitalization of library management, searching, and usage system of national library, university library, and research library that has been applied since 1980s has already been highly advanced. The amount of sinological resources collected is significant and its substance value is very high. The digitalized resources are already distributed on internet partially. However, the level of digitalization of sinological resources still lacks some aspects and requires further effort. (2) The data base for digitalized sinological resources already available can be grouped into bibliographic information, contents and annotation, and full text. and it includes both domestic and foreign resources. The quantities of resources are as described in the body (3) The types of digital sinological resources include antient books. archives, micro, and book blocks. (4) The encoding DB methods of digital sinological resources include text. image, PDF. and etc. (5) The united organizations of sinological resources enable us to avoid duplicated investigation and enhance service efficiency. Here are some factors to consider in order to accomplish ideal digitalization of sinological resources. (1) First of all, it is necessary to organize a control center for digitalization procedures of old materials, and allow it a certain degree of authority to develop and Proceed a comprehensive Plan. (2) Both short- and long-term plans need to be developed in order to analyze various aspects of digitalization process. and their steps need to be taken gradually (3) It is necessary to train experts for old materials and let them construct and manage DB.

  • We have characterized a phage library displaying random 22mer peptides which were produced as N-terminal fusions to the pIII coat protein of M13 filamentous phages. Among the sixty phages randomly picked from the library, 25 phages had the 22mer peptide inserts. The DNA sequence analysis of the 25 inserts showed the following results: first, each nucleotide was represented almost equally at each codon position except that there were some biases toward G bases at the first position of the codons. Secondly, the expected 47 sense codons were represented. The deduced amino acid sequences of the 25 inserts were analyzed to examine its diversity. Glycine and glutamate were the two most overrepresented residues above the expected value, whereas cysteine and threonine residues were underrepresented. The range of dicersity in dipeptide sequences showed that the amino acid residues were randomly distributed along the peptide insert. Acidic, basic, polar, and nonpolar amino acid residues were represented to the extent expected at most positions of the peptide inserts. The predicted isoelectric points and hydropathy indices of the 25 peptides showed that a variety of the peptide were represented in the library. These results indicate that this phage display library could be useful in fiuding ligands for a broad spectrum of receptors by affinity screening.

  • Interoperability and collaborations have become essential factors for developing a digital library. TEL, the European Library, is a new Pan-European service which gives access to the combined resources of the national libraries in Europe, and also TEL is the name of a project to implement TEL service. The vision of TEL stems from the characteristics that the national libraries offer, which is the comprehensiveness of collection, the national libraries' holdings of outstanding historical and special collection, reliability of information and high quality. Moreover, the national libraries are in a unique position to invest in creating added value to the digitized documents and to show the cultural diversity between EU members. From the viewpoint of digital library techniques, TEL explored some advanced methodologies to guarantee the interoperability between heterogenious collections and libraries. In this study, we examine the development of TEL including publisher relations, metadata developments, and retrieval features.
