The goal of this study is to analyze use patterns of library collections using circulation statistics of academic library user's. For this purpose, the 264,804 circulation-related data of A-academic library which were occurred between March 2012 and February 2013 were collected and used. Five patterns of common user group (undergraduate, graduate students, professors, staffs, the others users) are identified for this study. Gross circulation statistics was analyzed and compared for different users groups and for different subjects. And based on these analysis results, author understood degree of collection use by subject, degree of collection use by user groups, latest materials preference in collection use by subject, latest materials preference in collection use by user groups.

This study aims to construct faceted navigation useful for domestic users through analyzing English and North American public libraries' faceted navigations. The 19 domestic libraries and the 12 foreign libraries has been chosen for analyzing their unique facets. Although the domestic libraries' facets had no differences to the domestic universities' facets, the North American libraries have their unique facets. Those facets are target audience, genre, library list, user tags, and availability related facets and the facets are mainly to improve user's usability in using library catalog. Adopting the facets in domestic public libraries by using Fixed-Length data elements of KORMARC, domestic public libraries will enhance usability of library users in retrieving library materials.

Using the library users' data in Lake County Public Library Systems, Florida, US, this study discussed how geographic information systems can be applied in LIS fields. These data were analyzed with such GIS functions as geocoding, Thiessen polygon, density, buffer, and distance measurement. Results indicate that findings from a study of these functions allowed for, not only a better understanding of the geographic locations of library users and user's library activity patterns, but also for the ability to identify library market areas for future library service planning. Additionally, results from a study of the Thiesen polygon and buffer functions indicated the distance impact on library use. Regarding the travel distance of library users, the measurement of distance using road networks was suggested.

This study purposed to discover whether or not academic libraries reflect these changing roles. We selected K University as the research target and surveyed user satisfaction of materials, staff services, facilities, electronic devices, media, and so on. The research findings are as follows: 1) the frequency of library visits of University K was on the high side, 2) the primary purpose of using the academic library was associated with learning or reading, therefore, the most used library spaces were related to that, 3) the most used library materials were 'general books', the most unused were 'reference books', 4) the most preferred way to obtain needed materials when failing to find wanted materials was 'Contact librarian'. A similar phenomenon occurred in terms of facility use, 5) university K's users were usually satisfied with the loan policy, 6) the rate of users who don't know whether there is user education was very high, the rate of users who have no experience with user education was extremely low. These research findings can be referenced by library management to improve libraries' service quality and take advantage of complex spatial configurations.

The study aims at understanding that the precedent information search Patterns of on-line database users compared to non-users have an effect on user satisfaction. The research team analyzed S college students' library system use patterns to evaluate the efficiency of library information services and systems and therefore to diverse factors to improve user satisfaction. The research showed higher satisfaction from on-line system users than non-users. To satisfy user needs the research recommends more devices access methods to information.

The problem of library space has long been discussed in various aspects such as library relations, architecture, and space design. The purpose of this study is to examine the change of the concept of the complex space of the library according to the development of advanced technology and the social paradigm, and to present the direction of constructing the complex space of the future library by analyzing each case. All concepts such as mediatheque, information commons, larchiveum, and the maker space that is recently introduced into the library are important elements of the complex space presented as a problem of library construction and space. The future library reflects these concepts and serves as a mediator between information and users, users and users, users and media to support reading, information, learning, rest, community-oriented culture and creation, start-up and collaboration. Public library users' perception of librarians can be an important aspect in improving the public library uses and the quality of informn services. Thus it is necessary to identify what factors affect users' perceptions of librarians. This research empirically investigated users' general perceptions of librarians and the factors affecting them through a survey. As a result, it was found that the use of library collections, library facilities, and participation in club activities through the library affect the formation of a positive perception of librarians. In addition, the roles of the librarian are expanding from informational activities to supporting social activities. In contrast, the factors of direct interaction with the librarian, including participation in public library programs, circulating library collections, and communication with librarian, do not have a significant effect on the formation of the perception of librarian. Thus librarians need to consider library users more substantially and to support them in various ways.

Today, one of the major pressures that libraries have been facing is the rapid growth of publications. Due to the rapid growth of publications, libraries have been faced the shortage of stack as well as quality deterioration of library collections. Naturally, these disa n.0, ppointed the users and made the present library activities weak and inadequate. One of the desirable actions in remedying these problems is to weed library collections properly and regularly. Weeding methods used in libraries are derived from the judgement by subject specialists, from the examining the imprint date and the past use patterns of a volume. Among these methods, the past use patterns are highly predictive of the future use, and can be used to create meaningful weeding criteria. Since the libraries in Korea have emphasized on numbers of library collection in the past, the libraries have neglected weeding library collections. Now, we must turn our concern toward the weeding library collections, and the attitude of the library services to the users must change from passive to active.

University library users prefer the internet to OPAC, when they search for information. It is necessary to develop interface of OPAC that is nearly as convenient as the internet. This study provides users with University Library Toolbar which is one of the ways to implement Web 2.0, and proved that OPAC is also a convenient and useful searching tool by offering the toolbar. In addition, the causes of the preferences of the internet sites surveyed for this study and the point shown in the comparison between the internet and OPAC are going to be essential materials to implement more convenient OPAC and Library 2.0.
