  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the service quality of special libraries using Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) method. This study also applied the working year factor to IPA model for establishing more improved library service strategies. A total 127 library users who work in governmental policy or research institutions in South Korea participated in this study. This study conducted regression analysis to compare with the results of IPA. The results of survey revealed that special library users had high expectation for library services, but they perceived the performance of the library service as insufficient. Special library users assessed that the information services of libraries were well provided but required additional efforts in services related with space and provided by librarian. Interestingly, when the library services were measured by working years, special library users who have worked for more than eight years were generally satisfied with library services with no "possible overkill" services, but users with less than three years working experience particularly expressed dissatisfaction with the service provided by librarians. The results of regression analysis supported the results of IPA. Finally, this study provides several important suggestions for better special library service.

  • In this study, the author applied the service design methodology to the university library to maximize the service value provided by the university library. To this end, the 'Double Diamond Model', a service design model, was applied to the university library, and service design tools such as Persona, Customer Journey Map, and Touch Points were utilized. To reflect on the service design in the university library, the author first reviewed the literature related to the subject and researched the previous studies. Then, the issue was discovered by questionnaire surveys, interviews with users and librarians, and field investigations. Based on this, Persona and situation scenarios were derived. In addition, after synthesizing Persona's situational behavior and user's emotional change, the study visualized the Customer Journey Map and suggested service improvement plans for 11 items in 3 areas. This study is focused on the process of deriving service improvement plans rather than improving a specific service. The purpose of this study was to improve university library service and to suggest new service plans. The significance of this study is that the practical service improvement plans were applied to the university library.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the services provided to the patient based on the guidelines and standards due to the importance of the existence and role of the hospital library. The subject of investigation is foreign hospital library. As a result of the related search terms from search engine Google, researcher selected 90 overseas hospital library sites and examined the type of service based on guidelines and standards. As a result of the survey, services were provided mainly for 'basic service' and 'health information resource service' and 'health information resource service' was provided mainly for 'providing and delivering' rather than 'education'. 'Mental and psychological healing services' were found to be insufficient overall. The suggestion for providing hospital library service is as follows. First, it is necessary to provide library name and service that specialize only in patients. Second, it is necessary to expand bibliotherapy service, which is the center of hospital library service, especially providing culture, rehabilitation and entertainment programs, which are mental and mental healing services. Third, it is necessary to arrange human resources of health librarian and volunteer based on librarian.

  • This research investigated the effects of university library users' use patterns and their recognition of service benefits on the magnitude of service value assessments derived from users' statements using contingent valuation method (CVM). Library users' use patterns were operationalized by the number of library visits, library website visit counts and the degree of dependence on their own libraries. User benefits variables were measured by the level of satisfaction on the benefits of library use for teaching & instruction, research & writings, and employment & external activities. University library services were divided into circulation, journal articles (domestic & foreign), reference service, user education, reading room service and WTPs for each service were measured. The results from hypotheses testing show that the number of library visits affect WTP amounts for circulation, foreign article use, reference service and user education. The degree of library dependence seems to affect WTP amounts for circulation and user education. With regards to the hypotheses related to the recognition of library service benefits, the degree of satisfaction for teaching & instruction benefits seems to affect WTP amounts for reading room use.

Moreover, service such as the inter-library loan and returning my loan book to other library in which the mutual cooperation between the library is needed necessity. But it services due to the constraint condition because of the administrative or technical problems. In this paper excludes the administrative element. The single sign-on of the library which is concluded by this model using the security information exchange standard (Security Assertion Markup Language : SAML), it is processed by XML base. In using this model, the loan information is confirmed in the attribution in return service library and the model can utilize for the return of loan book in other library. It designs the single sign-on about it.
