The Library of Congress' proposal to license LC MARC database and the following debate over the proposal shows that the issue on ownership of bibliographic databases, which surfaced as a topic of concern in the international library community with the OCLC's a n.0, pplication for copyright of its databases in 1982, is not fading or dead into the 1990s. In particular, the way that technological developments are outpacing the ability of the relevant organizations and legal systems to make necessary adjustments is giving the library profession a warning that cooperative efforts for further development of the international library systems, such as the UBC program, might be seriously impeded without a swift and amicable agreement on the controversial 'database ownership' issue. Here, the purpose of this paper lies in discussing the 'database ownership' issue from a macro and long-term perspective, with emphasis on its potential impacts on, and implications for, international information flows. To the end, the specific questions covered in this paper include : 1) what are the major causes of the database ownership controversy? 2) what are the potential impacts of the database ownership issue on the library profession's cooperative efforts toward free bibliographic information flows at the international level? And finally, 3) what are the implications of the database ownership issue for the Korean Library Community, which is making efforts toward the establishment of a national library network in near future through linking various library automation systems.

Such information services source like digital library has been asked information services of atypical multimedia database like image, voice, VOD/AOD. Examined in this study are suggestions such as word-phrase generator, syllable recoverer, morphological analyzer, corrector for voice processing. Suggested voice processing technique transform voice database into tort database, then extract index database from text database. On top of this, the study suggest a information retrieval model to use in extracted index database, voice full-text information retrieval.

The purpose of this study is to design the solution for creating full-text database of Korean dissertaion, After considering file formats for text based and image based database, Viewer, Search, Copy Right, Abstracts and Indexes, situation of Korea University Library, decided the principles of creating database. And suggested the design to produce the database for Korea University Library, that is easy to get file format conversion in case of the introducing new technology for the future.

According to database and information technology development, many interests of database quality control have being increase. The purpose of database quality control is improvement quality of data itself as well as database system to satisfy user's need. As this paper was especially written about quality control of bibliographic database, to embody complete bibliographic database, it was invested numerous errors and its case by analyzing MARC records. In addition, it was presented that high degree's cataloging education, introduction of su n.0, pporting systems, and development of intelligent quality control system for quality improvement.

The purpose of this study is to suggest knowledge-based digital library model that is applicable in korea university library. This paper provides brief accounts of research and development trends of digital library in referring some major digital library projects that are in progress, or just completed. There follows a suggestion of eight essential modules for knowledge-based digital library system, that are infrastructure development of dissertation presentation and database construction, management and service of collections, infrastructure construction of journal service, development of unified viewer, database conversion, distributed & integrated retrieval system, cyber campus(private work space), and database connection.

Each ADS must have a validation and evaluation scenario for ODD. This requires a large number of scenarios, so a scenario library must be developed. In order to effectively utilize the scenario library, a system that supports testing in the ODD of the user's choice is required. In other words, in order to develop a scenario library, it is necessary to build a database on actual driving road conditions (geometry, etc.). Accordingly, in this study, we establish a domestic driving environment database based on HD-Map for driving safety testing, design a system that can search test target sections in connection with the ODD of the scenario, and present the implementation results. In the future, it is expected that the domestic driving environment database will be able to create scenarios through linking with the scenario library and directly utilize them for scenario-based evaluation of various demand sources.

In this paper, we propose a method of in-depth analysis of internal operation process by recording library calls and related information that occur in the operation process of NoSQL database. It observes and records the specified library calls, compares the internal behavior differences between the NoSQL databases through recorded library call information, and evaluates the characteristics and scalability of each database by observing changes in the number of input data. The development of computing performance and the activation of big data have led to the emergence of different types of NoSQL databases for recording and analyzing various and large amounts of data, and it is necessary to evaluate the scalability of each database in order to select a database suitable for each environment. However, it is difficult to analyze or predict how a database operates in traditional ways, such as benchmarking, observing external behavior through performance models, or analyzing structural features based on design. Therefore, it is necessary to utilize the techniques proposed in this paper to understand the scalability of NoSQL databases with high accuracy.

This paper surveyed the theoretical backgrounds of digital library. Its definition and function and case studies, and basic skills for system construction of digital library were suggested. The differences between the traditional library and the digital library were compared. And the conditions that should be take into consideration of digital library construction were suggested. Suggestions are summarized as follows : 1. For the construction of digital library, library collection should be digitalized by using CD-ROM and commercial online services. 2. The digitalization of library collection should be planned by subject sharing between the libraries. For the control of this cooperation, the orgnization to propel the digitalization should be established. And it is necessary to enact the standards for the digital library. 3. The connection between MARC formatted bibliographic database and full-text should be studied. 4. All the types of information about texts, pictures, sounds and if films should be also digitalized. 5. To satisfy the needs of many users, we have to establish the various users's interface which is fitted for several kinds of users. 6. When a digital library was constructed, the copyright and resources sharing must be guranteed depending on the cost of database's usage. 7. Because the digitalization of library will be related to the various kinds of libraries, the interface for resources sharing will be constantly concerned. 8. The sharing of information resources between the libraries will be enacted on the Internet. And we must be interested in various internet tools such as telecommunication softwares, media convert programs, etc. 9. By training staffs continously, all libraries must be ready to come the library in the future.

This study aims to evaluate the quality of Bibliographic database : The Union Catalog system(UNICAT) and Korean Library Information System Network(KOLIS-NET). The seven criteria(Coverage, Accuracy, Completeness, Currentness, Consistency on the quality of data itself and easy of use, Customer Support on the quality of database service) are used to measure their quality. The purpose of this study was dignose the quality of two bibliographic database mentioned above and analyses the measured result of quality comparatively and to find out the problems of them and also to provide possible suggestion for their improvements.

With purpose of improving library technology, one of the core elements of library automation technology, are suggested. The results of the study revealed article database standards briefly described as follows: First, database concerning articles in serials are generated from previous indices & abstracts journals. Second, bibliographic elements of ten representative domestic and international bibliographic database systems showed many dissimilar descriptive field types, as well as differences in entry orders and details. Third, database standards or guidelines were non-existent in domestic and international bibliographic database agencies, and different format have been adapted among those agencies. It is strongly recommended that all library should create a plan for adapting internationally standards in data input format as well as output format. Fourth, conforming with ISO 690 bibliographic descriptions, their ten components will be adapted as the basic framework for building the database and appropriately select additional seven data components of total 17 categories.
