  • In the culture of Vinyl mulching and Non mulching, growth, yield, and cotton hair's growth are studied at the different planting density to get a basic material for cotton culture and high yield bumper crop in the region of the South. And the results are following. Vinyl mulching is the best one at the strength, the number of boll bearing branches, the num-ber of bolls, the number of bolls per $m^2$ and all the other characters. Vinyl mulching and Non mulching have the greatest number of bolls per $m^2$ at the planting density of 70${\times}$10cm. Vinyl mulching has the highest seed cotton yield and the highest seed cotton yield per boll. Especially when planted at the density of 70${\times}$l0cm, Vinyl mulching and Non mulching have the highest seed cotton yield. Vinyl mulching's value is accepted in fiber length and lint percentage, the wider spacing in the row is, the longer fiber length is.

  • The effects of different stocking densities on the growth and survival rate of the abalone, Haliotis discus hannai, were investigated in marine net cage for two years. Stocking density was set 15, 30, 45 and 60 percentage $(=per.)/m^2$ with share to cross-sectional area per shelter. The primary rearing period (PRP) and the secondary rearing period (SRP) were conducted by a year. One year mean water temperature of PRP and SRS showed the difference about $2^{\circ}C$. In the growth (initial mean shell length of abalone : $36.14{\pm}2.28mm$) of PRP, the absolute growth rate (ARG), daily growth rate (DGR) and specific growth rate (SGR) of the $15per./m^2$ were higher than those of density groups (P < 0.05). Survival rates of all density groups were showed no significant difference. In the growth (mean shell length of abalone : $55.26{\pm}6.93mm$) of SRP, ARG, DGR and SGR of stocking density groups showed no significant difference except for $45per./m^2$ density group. Survival rate in the low-density (15, $30per./m^2$) was more than 70%, and those of the high-density (45, $60per./m^2$) were less than 31% and 9%, respectively. These results showed that the appropriate stocking density for $15per./m^2$ was seven hundred fifty number per one net cage ($2.4{\times}2.4m$), during PRP using 3-4 cm abalone in length. Also for the secondary rearing period, the optimal stocking density (shell length 5-6 cm of abalone) consider with the economical efficiency was determined to be $30per./m^2$, resulting the productivity improved.

  • Various uncertainties involved in ionospheric conductivity estimation utilizing the electron density profile obtained from the Sondrestrom incoherent scatter radar are examined. First, we compare the conductivity which is based on raw electron density and the one based on corrected electron density that takes into account the effects of the difference between the electron and ion temperatures and the Debye length. The corrected electron density yields higher Pedersen and Hall conductivities than the raw electron density does. Second, the dependence of collision frequency model on the conductivity estimation is examined. Below 110 km conductivity does not depend significantly on collision frequency models. Above 110 km, however, the collision models affect the conductivity estimation. Third, the influence of the electron and ion temperatures on the conductivity estimation is examined. Electron and ion temperatures carrying an error of about 10% do not seem to affect significantly the conductivity estimation. Fourth, also examined is the effect of the choice of the altitude range of integration in calculating the height-integrated conductivity, conductance. It has been demonstrated that the lower and upper boundaries of the integration are quite sensitive to the estimation of the Hall and Pedersen conductances, respectively.

  • This paper presents the overhang effects of a novel axial flux permanent magnet (AFPM) machine, which consist of the segmented stator and fractioned slot windings, with one rotor and double stator. In addition, the overhang effect of permanent magnet of the motor has been analyzed quantitatively. The overhang is used to enhance the force density in permanent magnet machine. According to the variation of overhang length, the flux density distribution and torque are quantitatively compared. For these analysis, three dimensional finite element method (3D FEM) has been used in this paper. From the results, the proper overhang length of PM is selected to improve the performance of the AFPM machine.

  • This study was performed to investigate the effects of food organism and water quality on the mass production of larval red marbled rockfish, Sebastiscus tertius. When rotifer cultured with different food stuffs were supplied to the larvae, rotifer cultured with concentrated Chlorella provided the highest in total length 11.9 mm and survival rate was the highest by 47.0% fed that cultured with ω-yeast Growth and survival rate of larvae fed on enriched rotifer with ω-yeast and super selco, super selco of enriched treatment showed that the best results not only growth but also survival rate. For instance of Artemia, the growth was not significantly different with other treatment but the survival rate was significantly higher than others. The growth of larvae fed with different diets indicated that rotifer+Artemia+commercial diet treatment was the highest on the total length and body weight 18.40 mm and 18.1 mg, respectively, whether the survival rate was rotifer+Artemia treatment was the highest as 57.5%. The most effective density of Chlorella was 10×105 cells/ml for growth of larvae. That density showed that total length and body weight were 11.83 mm and 14.3 mg, respectively. The survival rate was the most effective for 20×105 cells/ml of Chlorella density. That density represented the highest survival rate as 54.5%. Comparing of PSB adding effect, PSB density 15×105 cells/ml was the most effective for growth of larvae and but for survival rate PSB density 10×105 cells/ml was the highest as 61.0%.

  • Three design parameters were considered in this study: outlet nozzle angle (30°, 60°, 80°), neck length (1 mm, 3 mm), and flow rate (0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8 lpm). A neck diameter of 0.5 mm induced cavitation flow at a venture nozzle. A secondary transparent chamber was connected after ejection to increase bubble duration and shape visibility. The bubble size was estimated using a Gaussian kernel function to identify bubbles in the acquired images. Data on bubble size were used to obtain Sauter's mean diameter and probability density function to obtain specific bubble state conditions. The degree of bubble generation according to the bubble size was compared for each design variable. The bubble diameter increased as the flow rate increased. The frequency of bubble generation was highest around 20 ㎛. With the same neck length, the smaller the CV number, the larger the average bubble diameter. It is possible to increase the generation frequency of smaller bubbles by the cavitation method by changing the magnification angle and length of the neck. However, if the flow rate is too large, the average bubble diameter tends to increase, so an appropriate flow rate should be selected.

  • When we apply the LDPC code for high density optical storage channel, it is necessary to make an algorithm that the modulation code decoder must feed the LDPC decoder soft-valued information because LDPC decoder exploits soft values using the soft input. Therefore, we propose the soft-input soft-output run-length limited 17PP decoding algorithm and compare performance of LDPC codes. Consequently, we found that the proposed soft-input soft-output decoding algorithm using 17PP is 0.8dB better than the soft-input soft-output decoding algorithm using (1, 7) RLL.

  • The modulation code with the limitation of consecutive transition length is a type of channel codes in high-density magnetic recording channel. When code sequence has two or less successive transitions, the detection performance of channel outputs can be improved. However, the code rate is reduced considerably. We present a rate 7/8 nut-length limited (RLL) code that consecutive transition length of each codeword is limited to 2 (j=2), and j is allowed to be 3 when codewords are connected. In addition, the consecutive zeros of the proposed code is limited to 7 (k=7).

  • The injected liquid does not break-up instantly after injection for diesel engine. There is some unbroken portion, which is the liquid core(The length of liquid core is called the break-up length) in the spray. If the liquid core is longer than the depth of the bowl in the small DI diesel engine, the liquid core impinges on the surface of the piston. Once the liquid core impinges on the surface, it cannot ignite or burn rapidly and thus prolongs burning time with a degradation in thermal efficiency. The break-up length of a diesel spray in a compressure vessel was measured by an electric resistance method, A voltage was applied between the nozzle and screen, bar, needle electrode inserted at various axial and radial positions into atomizing sprays. As a result, a current flows not only in the region of liquid core but also through the droplets of the spray. It is found that the break-up length measured with screen electrode is overestimated. The break-up length of the spray is found to be proportional to the square root of the density ratio of fuel and surrounding gas. The break-up length of the spray decreases as the injection pressure and the back pressure increase.
