  • This study intends to analyze the learning effect of asynchronous online classes used in education fields around the world after the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, we compared and analyzed the lecture evaluation and final exam questions of the HTML5 web programming course, which was conducted offline in 2019 and asynchronously online in 2020 due to COVID-19. As a result of the analysis, no significant difference was drawn between the two teaching methods in the lecture evaluation score and final exam score. However, contrary to concerns about the application of online classes to the entire curriculum, the lecture evaluation and final exam scores of the video-based online classes were high, suggesting the possibility that online classes could be more effective than offline classes if well organized and managed in the future.

The results of the survey on the degree of adaptation and satisfaction of the lecture held at Handong University in the spring of 2020 were compared and analyzed with the previous data of the same lecturer. Overall, both class adaptation and satisfaction scores were found to be similar or slightly higher than before. Compared to lectures conducted by uploading recorded lectures, lectures conducted in real time had higher scores on all satisfaction survey questions. There was no significant change in satisfaction depending on the number of participants and the teacher's previous online lecture experience.

  • This study is a case study on investigating students' learning behavior in the online English reading class of an on-off course. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on a total of 77 students from an English listening and reading course and phone interview with 5 students was implemented. The findings revealed that regularity of learning interval and learning sequence need to be improved through student management in order to increase the effect of online learning. In case of lecture watching, the students are good at utilizing the strengths of taped lecture, such as using pause and repeating watching. However, more research need to be done on how to develop online lecture to enhance students' understanding of the lecture. Regarding the offline review quiz that is supposed to stimulate students into their more positive watching of the lecture, it is suggested that a few of its related elements such as the online learning period and the number of quiz questions be corrected for its better effect.
