  • Education is an intentional change of human behaviors. This change is implemented through the learning process of humans. The principles in the learning process and its psychological mechanism are based on learning theories. The objective insight about how they are related with school libraries as a basic organization supporting school education, what they can contribute and what their research methodologies are is a base for educational and academic research of school libraries. This study at first is to investigate learning and teaching theories for school libraries based on behavioral learning theories, cognitive learning theories and constructive learning theories which are general trends for learning theories. Then it is to introduce new theory 'library-based education approach (LBEA)'as an educational base of school libraries.

  • In order to actively apply horticultural therapy to vocational education base schools, this study applied the learning theories based on behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism to improve the vocational skills of high school students with intellectual disabilities. The horticultural therapy program was carried out in total 12 sessions with three groups composed of 20 students each: 20 in the control group, 20 in the experimental group with a normal horticultural program, and 20 in the experimental group with a horticultural therapy program which applied the learning theories based on behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism. The results were analyzed with SPSS 12.0 using the Interpersonal Negotiation Strategies evaluation tool. The study found that in terms of interpersonal relationship, there was no significant difference between the pre and post tests within each group. However, in the post tests among the three groups, there was no significant difference between control group and experimental group with normal horticultural program (p=.82), but there was a significant difference between the control group and experimental group with the horticultural therapy program applying the learning theories based on behaviorism, cognitivism (p=.03). This proved that the horticultural therapy program applying the learning theories based on behaviorism, cognitivism is effective for improving interpersonal relationship. Ultimately the program is expected to be continuously, and systematically improved and applied as a learning method contributing to developing the basic vocational skills of persons with intellectual disabilities.

  • This thesis is focused on online education and proposes a guideline for selecting teaming theories and multimedia representation without difficulty. On the first, consideration of learning theories and analysis of multimedia properties are made, and from these results guidelines are formed. Then they are applied to each 6 types of CAI. Objectivism and constructivism could be used for the basic framework of CAI. The former is suitable for reed, sequential, structural, and passive learning style and the latter is suitable for selectable, unstructural, active, self-controled, learning style. And the quideline for selecting multimedia representation is made out of the properties of media, learners(cognitive model, proficiency, acceptance), and teaming contents. On the basis of guideline obtaining from the previous process, I suggest mosts suitable conditions for each 6 types of CAI available today. Those conditions are consist of learning theories, media selection, levels of learners, and categories and properties of teaming contents.

For this research, a survey was conducted using questionnaires with 280 high school students living in Daegu and the rate of response was 78.9%. The results of this study are as follows. 1. After analysing the curriculum of Practical Arts subject in elementary school and Technology´ Home Economics subject in secondary school, we could find out that more emphasis is put on practical activities in elementary school and high school. On the other hand, theories are considered more important in middle school. 2. Students have similar preference both for theories and for practical activities as a way of learning in class and show positive responses to practical activities unless they´re giving too much pressure as a part of performance test. 3. According to their learning requirement. several teaching-learning contents in clothing and textiles in Technology Home economics are selected such as materials,. clothes designs, how to set dressed well, how to make a reasonable purchase on clothes, and the process of manufacturing various clothes, etc. Therefore it would be desirable to provide the students with the learning opportunity to the extent where even the students who haven´t chosen the selected-advanced course can take part in class actively.

  • Past theories on construction price formation have been shown to be inadequate in terms of their ability to represent real-life industry practice and price formation predictability. In this paper, we develop a theoretical framework on construction price formation that integrates four theories within the domains of marketing, learning, resource management and economics. These are: (i) marketing pricing theory; (ii) experiential and organisational learning theory; (iii) resourced based theory and (iv) microeconomic theory. Utilising pricing theory from marketing, a foundation is able to be created for the procedure of construction price formation, namely: (i) identifying the objectives; (ii) assessing the tendering environment; and (iii) formation of the price. However, understanding contractors' decision making process in tender pricing as such can be attributed to theories of experiential learning and consequently organisational learning. It is argued that contractors do learn from past experience and history and are able to adapt to different market conditions. In formation of the price, neoclassical microeconomics is able to provide additional insight in terms of the supply and demand model and consideration of the market conditions. Interrelated with the microeconomic concept of scarcity, we appreciate that contractors do have limited resources that affect their tender pricing decisions and resource based theory is used to substantiate this. Integrating the various theories as a unity allows the broader reality to be visualised and add to our theoretical understanding of construction price formation.

  • This study explored a possibility of science concept learning in scientific practice-based science instruction through the review of literature about situated learning theories and practice-based science education. It was revealed that the situated learning theories were closely related to the recent trend in science education which emphasizes students' active engagement in scientific practices. From the perspective of situated learning, concept learning occurs in the process in which learners make use of concepts as resources and further develop the concepts through the emergence of conceptual agency during their participation in practices. The study also found that the situated learning perspectives could apply to science concept learning in scientific practice-based instruction: Science concepts are used as resources in practice-based science learning, students can better engage in scientific practices as they take advantage of science concepts as resources, and the emergence of conceptual agency can facilitate science concept learning during the participation in scientific practices. Implications for school science education were suggested.

  • The objectives of this study were to inquire the theories associated with YLD (Youth Leadership Development), and to draw implications for improving youth leadership abilities, The results of the inquiry revealed the theories associated with YLD as follows; 1. All youth have leadership potential and abilities, but there were few programs to improve it. 2. Activity-Observation-Reflection model of Hughes, Ginnett & Curphy(1993) and Awareness-Interaction-Mastery model of Linden & Fertman(1998) were the best effective YLD models. 3. Situational contingency approach was very appropriate theory associated with YLD. 4. The learning of leadership skills had occurred within an educational context known as experiential learning, so it was the best method of YLD.
