잔류유분 함유 반출처리토 재활용을 위한 호밀 식재 식물상 토성회복 가능성 (Phyto-restoration Potential of Soil Properties using Secale cereale for Recycle of Soils with Residual TPHs (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons) after Off-site Treatment)

  • The amount of TPH contaminated soil treated at off-site remediation facilities is ever increasing. For the recycle of the treated-soil on farmlands, it is necessary to restore biological and physico-chemical soil characteristics and to remove residual TPH in the soil by an economic polishing treatment method such as phytoremediation. In this study, a series of experiments was performed to select suitable plant species and to devise a proper planting method for the phyto-restoration of TPH-treated soil. Rye (Secale cereale) was selected as test species through a germination test, among 5 other plants. Five 7-day-old rye seedlings were planted in a plastic pot, 20 cm in height and 15 cm in diameter. The pot was filled with TPH-treated soil (residual TPH of 1,118 mg/kg) up to 15 cm, and upper 5 cm was filled with horticulture soil to prevent TPH toxic effects and to act as root growth zone. The planted pot was cultivated in a greenhouse for 38 days along with the control that rye planted in a normal soil and the blank with no plants. After 38 days, the above-ground biomass of rye in the TPH-treated soil was 30.6% less than that in the control, however, the photosynthetic activity of the leaf remained equal on both treatments. Soil DHA (dehydrogenase activity) increased 186 times in the rye treatment compared to 10.8 times in the blank. The gross TPH removal (%) in the planted soil and the blank soil was 34.5% and 18.4%, respectively, resulting in 16.1% increase of net TPH removal. Promotion of microbial activity by root exudate, increase in soil permeability and air ventilation as well as direct uptake and degradation by planted rye may have contributed to the higher TPH removal rate. Therefore, planting rye on the TPH-treated soil with the root growth zone method showed both the potential of restoring biological soil properties and the possibility of residual TPH removal that may allow the recycle of the treated soil to farmlands.

  • The possibility of removal of PCBs (Polychlorinated Biphenyls) in soil was studied using biological method. The effects of soil and co-substrate on both PCBs reduction rate and chloride ion concentration in soil were investigated. It was shown that PCBs concentration of all the soils used in this study were reduced from 5ppm to below 1ppm after 60days, also chloride ion concentration in slurry increased, Results showed that leaf mold and humic acid as co-substrate do not seem to be effective for biological treatment of PCBs in soil,

  • 축산폐수(畜産廢水)의 정화방법(淨化方法)의 일환으로 사각(四角) pot에 수초(水草)인 부레옥잠, 물옥잠, 줄, 부들 창포 왕골, 토란을 이식하고 관수(灌水)하면서 재배(栽培)하고 건물생산량(乾物生産量), 식물체중(植物體中)의 질소(窒素)및 인산함량(燐酸含量), 질소(窒素) 및 인산흡수량(燐酸吸收量), 부레옥잠의 생육상황(生育狀況)등을 조사(調査)하여 축산폐수(畜産廢水)의 정화능력(淨化能力)을 조사(調査)한 결과(結果)는 다음과 같다. 1 식물별(植物別) 질소(窒素), 인산함량(燐酸含量) 및 제거량(除去量)은 부레옥잠이 가장 높았다. 2. $NH_4-N$ 100ppm구(區)에서 건물수량(乾物收量)은 부레옥잠>줄>부들>물옥잠>창포의 순이었다. 3. $NH_4-N$ 100ppm구(區)에서 질소제거량(窒素除去量)은 부레옥잠>줄>물옥잠>부들>창포>토란>왕골> 순이었고, 인산(燐酸)은 부레옥잠>물옥잠>줄>부들>창포>왕골>토란순이었다. 4. 생육저해(生育沮害) $NH_4-N$ 농도(濃度)는 부레옥잠, 줄, 부들 은 200ppm이고, 물옥잠 및 창포는 100ppm이었다. 5. 부레옥잠에서 질소(窒素)는 잎에 인산(燐酸)은 부레에 많이 함유(含有)되어 있었다. 6. 부레옥잠의 년간(年間) 재배기간(栽培期間)을 7개월(個月)로보면 $NH_4-N$ 100ppm구(區)에서 분벽(分蘗)은 1개체(個體)가 752개(個)로 증가(增加)되고 건물수량(乾物收量)은 10a당(當) 5톤정도(程度)로 추정(推定)되었다.

동결건조한 들깻잎을 첨가한 크림수프의 품질 특성 (Quality Characteristics of Cream Soup with Freeze-dried Perilla Leaf)

  • As a result of testing cream soup prepared by adding variable amounts of freeze-dried perilla leaves, the moisture content was lowest at 86.91 for the cream soup containing 20% perilla leaves, and the pH was highest at 7.26 for the control group. The brightness was highest at 78.08 for the control group not containing perilla leaves, and the redness was lowest at -12.73 for PS20. The redness increased significantly (p>0.001) with increasing amounts of perilla leaves. As the amount of perilla leaves increased, the viscosity of the cream soup decreased gradually. In terms of bacteria, no microorganism was found until day 1. The control group with 0% camellia leaves contained $4.5{\times}10^3$ CFU/mL on day 3 and all groups contained microorganisms on day 5. The control group showed the highest content of microorganisms at $3.1{\times}10^4$ CFU/mL; PS20 containing the largest amount of perilla leaves showed the lowest content of microorganisms on day 7 and on day 10. The DPPH free radical removal activity of cream soup increased significantly (p>0.001) with the increasing amount of perilla leaves. In the sensory test, the color was highest at 5.3 for PS15 containing 15% perilla leaves, and there was no significant difference compared to that of the 10% group. The group with the lowest color was PS20. The fragrance was also highest at 5.6 for PS15, and the taste and after-taste were highest for PS10 containing 10% perilla leaves. Overall, the preference was highest at 5.3 for PS15 and lowest at 3.6 for PS20, with the greatest content of perilla leaves. Considering these findings, the optimal content of perilla leaves in cream soup would be 10~15%. Adding more than 20% perilla leaves would make the soup less preferable to the control group not containing any perilla leaves.

재식밀도와 얼자제거가 단 옥수수의 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Planting Density and Tiller Removal Growth and Yield of Sweet Corn Hybrids)

  • 재식밀도를 달리할 때 얼자제거가 단옥수수의 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향을 구명하고자 단옥 1호와 Golden Cross Bantam 70(GCB 70)을 10a 당 4167, 5557,6667,8333, 11111 개체 재식하여 얼자의 초장이 15cm 이내일 때 얼자를 제거하는 구와 제거하지 않은 구의 생육 수량 등을 조사한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 두 교잡종 모두 재식밀도가 증가할수록 개체당 얼자수는 직선적으로 감소되었다. 2. 간장, 수장, 수경, 개체당 및 10a 당 이삭수는 교잡종간에 차이가 없었다. 단옥 1호는 10a 당 8333본 이하 재식구에서 약 20% 근도복이 되었으나 GCB 70은 재식밀도에 관계없이 도복이 전혀 되지 않았다. 엽년적지수 및 간엽수량은 단옥 1호가 GCB 70보다 컸었다. 3. 근도복과 엽면적지수를 제외하고는 교잡종과 재식밀도간 교호작용이 없었다. 4. 재식밀도가 증가할수록 간장, 엽면적지수 및 간엽수량은 직선적으로 감소하였다. 재식밀도 증가에 따른 엽면적지수의 증가는 GCB 70보다 단옥 1호에서 컸었다. 5. 재식밀도와 10a 당 이삭수 및 이삭수량과는 이차곡선적인 증가 관계가 있었으며 이상수량, 10a 당 이삭수, 이삭크기 등을 고려한 적정재식밀도는 10a 당 6500 본 정도로 판단되었다. 6. 착수고와 엽면적지수를 제거하고는 교잡종과 얼자제거, 재식밀도와 얼자제거간에 유의한 교호작용이 없었으며 교잡종, 재식밀도, 얼자제거간에는 어떠한 형질에도 유의한 교호작용이 없었다. 7. 얼자제거에 의하여 간장, 이삭수량 및 간엽수량이 각각 3, 10, 16% 감소되었으나 출사기, 근도복, 수장, 수중, 본당 및 10a당 이삭수 등은 크게 영향을 받지 않았다. 8. 따라서 얼자제거를 하거나 제거를 하지 않거나 간에 적정재식밀도는 10a 당 6500 본 정도로 생각되며 교잡종, 재식밀도에 관계없이 얼자를 제거하지 않은 것이 유리할 것으로 판단되었다.

Initial Responses of Quercus serrata Seedlings and Forest Understory to Experimental Gap Treatments

  • Pinus thunbergii plantations in Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea, are of low ecological quality, with arrested succession and a high proportion of ruderal species. To improve the quality of the habitat, we created canopy gaps ($\sim42\;m^2$) and monitored changes in abiotic (light availability, canopy openness) and biotic (survival and growth of seedlings and understory communities) variables in 2007 and 2008 in plots that had received one of five types of treatment: cutting of canopy trees and removal of the understory (CU), cutting of canopy trees only (C), girdling of canopy trees and removal of the understory (GU), girdling of canopy trees (G) or control. Each treatment was applied to three replicate plots. Abiotic variables did not significantly differ among treatments. Survival rates of target species were slightly lower in the CU, G and control conditions. Based on logistic regression analysis, the only significant growth factor affecting survival was height growth. Positive effects of seedling height and leaf area growth on survival were also detected, but did not reach statistical significance. In treatment G, gradual improvement of overstory conditions and mitigation of competition by limitation of disturbance to the understory community were likely to have promoted seedling growth. There were no significant effects of gap treatments on changes in species abundance (cover and richness) and composition of understory between the study years. This result implies that the small gaps created in our study may be below the threshold size to affect understory growth. However, the results of this study are based on a short-term investigation of only two years. Long-term research is strongly recommended to clarify the effects of gap treatment on plant communities in afforested areas.

적엽처리가 재식밀도를 달리한 대두품종의 수량 및 수량구성요소에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Defoliation on the Grain Yield of Two Soybean Cultivars Grown under Different Population Densities)

  • 재식밀도를 달리한 조건에서 적엽처리가 대두품종의 수량 및 수량구성요소에 미치는 영향을 알고저 6월1일과 6월20일에 $\textrm{m}^2$당 80본, 40본, 27본 및 20본이 되도록 재식밀도를 조절 파종하고 개화시기에 잔여엽수가 상부로부터 각각 1,2,3,5,7엽이 되도록 하위엽을 적엽처리하고 무적엽의 표준구를 포함하는 6처이로 하여 시험을 실시하였는데 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 표준구에서의 최적엽면적지수는 파종기에 따라 다르며 광교에 있어서는 개화시에 LAI가 4~5이고 개화후 30일에는 5~6이었으며 SRF-300에 있어서는 개화시에 2.5~6.0이고 개화 30일후에는 6~7이었다. 2. 종실수량은 재식밀도가 낮은 경우에는 적엽처리에 의하여 직선적으로 감소되었으나 재식밀도가 $\textrm{m}^2$당 40본이상으로 높은 경우에는 수량과 착엽수사이에 유의적인 곡선효과가 인정되어 하위부의 경미한 적엽처리를 하므로서 표준에 비하여 광교에서는 25~35%, SRF-300에서는 13~32%의 증수를 보였다. 3. 적엽처리시에 수량에 가장 크게 영향하는 수량구성요소는 전체적으로 볼때 식물체당 협수이며 다음으로 6월1일 파종구에서 재식밀도가 감소됨에 따라서 광교에서는 립중의 효과가 증대되었고 SRF-300에서는 수량에 영향하는 임실율의 비중이 현저히 증대되었다.

만경강 하천토양에서 노랑꽃창포의 생장특성과 질소·인 제거효과 (Growth Characteristics and Removal Effect of Nitrogen and Phosphoric Acid of Iris pseudoacorus at Waterway Soils of Mangyeong River)

  • This study was carried out to measure the growth and photosynthesis of Iris pseudoacorus, the reduction rate of nitrogen(T-N) and phosphoric acid($P_2O_5$) from soils, and the increase rate of two substance into plants which cultivated at waterway soils of different concentration of two substance. The results are summarized as follows; 1. The contents of nitrogen and phosphoric acid at waterway soils of Mangyeong river showed the highest level in the around Samrye railway bridge where was located in the downstream and sewage of stock raising flowed in 2. The Iris pseudoacorus which cultivated at waterway soils showed the leaf and root growth of 43~50 and 9~13cm, respectively. And the growth was higher in the waterway soils contained high level of nitrogen The rate of photosynthesis was $3.5-5.9{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$ ranges and this rate increased from the end of June to August and then decreased. The rate of photosynthesis was higher in waterway soils contained high nitrogen regardless of seasons. 4. The Iris pseudoacorus removed nitrogen and phosphoric acid from waterway soils about 19~21% and 13~15%, respectively. The Iris pseudoacorus was effective to remove nitrogen more than phosphoric acid. And the waterway soil which included high concentration of two substance showed highly removal 5. The results of Iris pseudoacorus vegetation in the waterway soils showed that nitrogen and phosphoric acid of inside plant increased with 0.2-1.0% and 0.01-0.10% ranges, respectively. The contents of nitrogen and phosphoric acid in plants were increase in the soils of higher contents of nitrogen and phosphoric acid, and the rate of increase of nitrogen and phosphoric acid was higher at roots than leaves.

What factors reduce the yield potentiality in high-yielding rice?

  • The indica ${\times}$ japonica rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars released in Japan since 1980 are high-yielding. However, occasionally in these cultivars their high yield potentials cannot be realized, particularly depending on climate conditions. The objectives of this study were to identify the reason for yield instability and the critical yield component factor causing lower grain yield in these high-yielding cultivars. Standard-yield japonica, high-yielding japonica-dominant, and indica-dominant cultivars were grown in western Japan. Rough grain yield (RY) in these high-yielding cultivars ranged from 450 to $980g\;m^{-2}$, and was positively correlated with potential grain yield (PRY). By fluctuations of solar radiation, RY changed with spikelet number (SNO), and SNO was correlated with cumulative radiation during the panicle formation period of 30 days before heading. Even if higher SNO was achieved under higher radiant conditions, RY was lower than PRY. The lower grain-filling in plants bearing higher SNO resulted from a lower filling percentage of spikelets (%F, RY/PRY), and %F was strongly correlated with spikelet fertility (%S) across all cultivars. %S was highly influenced by cumulative radiation per PRY during pollen development and establishment around heading. Inhibition of assimilation by leaf removal lowered %S. Conversely, stem thinning and removal of upper panicles around heading increased %S in spikelets of the lower part of the panicle in which sterility was higher. These results suggest that limitation of assimilate-supply due to low irradiance at the spikelet-formation and flowering stages restrains the potential of the high-yielding cultivars, depending on reduction of SNO and %S, respectively.

활나물 잎 추출물의 분획별 항산화 활성 (Antioxidant Effects of Crotalaria sessiliflora L. Leaf Extracts Fractionated from Each Solvent)

  • 활나물 잎을 에탄올과 메틸렌 클로라이드 혼합용매(3:1)로 추출하였다. 이중 가장 활성이 높은 유효성분을 추출 및 분리하기 위해서 당과 지방 성분을 제거하고, water와 n-butanol 용매를 1:1 비율로 혼합하여 분획 추출하였다. n-butanol층 은 감압 농축 후, Sephadex LH-20이 충진된 column chromatography를 이용하여 10개(Fr1, Fr2, Fr3, Fr4, Fr5, Fr6, Fr7, Fr8, Fr9, Fr10)의 소 분획물을 얻었다. 분획물의 각종 항산화 활성 결과 Fr1, Fr4, Fr6에서 높은 항산화 활성을 나타내었다(p<0.05). 분획물중 활성이 강한 F1, F4 및 F6에서 미지의 물질을 발견하였으므로 각종 기기분석을 통해 그물질을 동정 중에 있다.
