New polysulfone scintillation proximity membranes were prepared by impregnating Cerium Activated Yttrium Silicate (CAYS), an inorganic fluor, in a membrane structure. The membranes were applied to detect the radionuclide contamination directly without the aid of a scintillation cocktail. The preparation of membranes was divided into two processes. A supporting polymer film was made of casting solutions consisting of polysulfone and solvent, their cast film being solidified by vacuum evaporation. CAYS-dispersed polymer solutions were cast over the first, solidified polymer films and coagulated either by evaporating solvent or by exchanging solvent in the solution with nonsolvent in a coagulation bath. The prepared membranes had two distinguished, but tight1y attached, double layers: one is the supporting layer of dense polymer film and the other the detecting layer consisting of CAYS and polymer. The radionuclide counting results revealed that the prepared membranes were efficient to monitor radioactivity contamination with reliable counting ability.
The smear media possible to sampling and radiation detection was prepared and evaluated for the surface contamination using indirect method. The films were made by impregnating Cerium Activated Yttrium Silicate (CAYS) in a polysulfone membrane. The membranes used solution as a dimethylformamide (DMF) and methylene chloride (MC), polysulfone as a polymer matrix and CAYS as a inorganic scintillator. The proximity membranes were prepared with single- and double-layered structure. The solidified methods were immersion to the nonsolvent bath such at water and ethanol and solvent evaporation. The measurement of the photon produced by interaction with radiation and inorganic scintillator used a photomultiflier tube (PMT), amplifier, and counter. In the comparison with the low background alpha/beta counter, the counter rate using inorganic scintillator proximity membrane for the $\^$14/C surface contamination was about 50%. Also. the $^3$H counting results revealed that the prepared membranes were efficient to monitor the surface contaminated with the low energy be-ray emitter nuclides.

C/SiC composites were prepared by boron nitride (BN)-assisted liquid silicon infiltration (LSI), and their anti-oxidation and mechanical properties were investigated. The microstructures, bulk densities, and porosities of the C/SiC composites demonstrated that the infiltration of liquid silicon into the composites improved them, because the layered-structure BN worked as a lubricant. Increasing the amount of BN improved the anti-oxidation of the prepared C/SiC composites. This synergistic effect was induced by the assistance of BN in the LSI. More thermally stable SiC was formed in the composite, and fewer pores were formed in the composite, which reduced inward oxygen diffusion. The mechanical strength of the composite increased up to the addition of 3% BN and decreased thereafter due to increased brittleness from the presence of more SiC in the composite. Based on the anti-oxidation and mechanical properties of the prepared composites, we concluded that improved anti-oxidation of C/SiC composites can be achieved through BN-assisted LSI, although there may be some degradation of the mechanical properties. The desired anti-oxidation and mechanical properties of the composite can be achieved by optimizing the BN-assisted LSI conditions.

Recently, various applications for LED lightings are growing continuously due to their better performances such as low power consumption, longer life time, operation speed, controllability, high quality color rendering, and sustainability. However, in developing the high-powered LEDs illumination system, heat-sink problem is one of the important obstacle. In this paper, a heat-sink design with multi-layered structure for high-powered LEDs is proposed, which is composed of metal core PCB, heat-pipes, heat-sink plates, and fans. And also, in this paper, a design for LED controls using DMX512 protocols through RS-485 communications is proposed, which is considered as de facto international standard in LEDs illumination control and is widely used in landscape lighting and stage lighting. In this paper, LED control and its application techniques are introduced and the method of wireless remote control for main controller is proposed.

This research has been carried out to examine the effects of quality promoting agents on global quality and epidermal changes of Chamaecereus silvestrii 'Hee-mang' for quality maintenance of the transportation. D-sorbitol than D-mannitol treatment was effective in a lower reduction of fresh weight in C. silvestrii transportations. Application of diniconazole 200 ppm suppressed growth of C. silvestrii. However, it enabled the possibility of long-tenn plant transportation (up to 50 days) and color formation was also effective. As for epidermis structure of C. silvestrii, hypodermis development was lower compared to Gymnocalycium friedrichii and its long-term transportation became poor quality due to single layered, thin cell wall. Application of diniconazole 200 ppm + D-mannitol 10,000 ppm showed higher growth suppressing effects and diniconazole 200 ppm + wax treatment showed better color formation suitable for quality maintenance and storage purposes for C. silvestrii.
Dry air is an excellent alternative to $SF_6$ gas and is used as an insulation gas in Eco-friendly Gas Insulated Switchgears (EGISs), which has gained popularity in industry. Solid insulators in EGIS play an important role in electrical insulation. On the other hand, surface discharge can occur easily when solid insulators are used. This paper explored the surface discharge characteristics on the structure of three-layered laminated solid insulators to elevate the flashover voltage. A laminated solid insulator was inserted after the quasi-uniform electric field was formed in the test chamber. Dry air was then injected to set the internal pressure to 1 ~ 6 atm, and the AC voltage was applied. When identical solid insulators were stacked, the surface discharge characteristics were similar to those of a single solid insulator. On the other hand, the flashover voltage rose when the middle part was thicker and had lower permittivity than the top and bottom parts in the laminated solid insulator. Based on experimental results, when stacking a solid insulator in three layers, the middle part of the solid insulator should be at least four times as thick as the top and bottom parts and have lower permittivity than the others. In addition, the flashover voltage increased with increasing gas pressure on the surface of the laminated solid insulator due to the gas effect. This study may allow insulation design engineers to have useful information when using dry air for the insulation gas where the surface discharge can occur.

Schlumberger electrical soundings and Coincident loop time-domain electromagnetic soundings were made on the Nanji-do landfill to investigate the nature of fills and the subsurface structure. The measured data were transformed into apparent resistivity values and then inverted in terms of 1-D resistivity models. At 6 points, both measurements were carried out to check the validity of the interpreted subsurface electrical structures. Interpreted layered models from each method show a good agreement. Obtained models show that a conductive zone exist below the shallow resistive zone. Conductive zone, which is considered to be influenced by decomposition of organic waste materials and infiltration of precipitation, is terminated by resistive zone which is considered as basement. Considering the fact that conductive zone extends to the basement and there exist no barrier layers such as clay layers, contaminant plumes are likely to flow into the groundwater directly.
In this paper, we develop a Spatio-Temporal graph as of a key component of our knowledge representation Scheme. We design an integrated representation scheme to depict not only present and past but future in parallel with the spaces in an effective and intuitive manner. An event in general occupies not only a space but a time. Hence a crucial premise for the simulation of virtual situations is to position events in the multi-dimensional context, that is, 3-D space extended by the temporal dimension. Furthermore an event tends to have physical, social and mental aspects intertwined. As a result we need diverse information structures and functions to model entities and relations associated with events and to describe situations in different stances or perspectives of the virtual agents. These structures and functions are implemented in terms of integrated and intuitive representation schemes at different levels such as Ontology View, Instance View, ST View, Reality View. The resulting multi-dimensional comprehensive knowledge structure accommodates multi-layered virtual world developing in the time to maximize the diversity of situations in the historical context. The viability of this knowledge representation scheme is demonstrated with a typical scenario applied to a simulator implemented based on the ST Graph. The virtual stage based on the ST graph can be used to provide natural contexts for situated learning or next-generation simulation games.
Amorphization and crystallization behaviors of $Ti_{50}Cu_{50}Ni_{20}Al_{10}$ powders during high-energy ball milling and subsequent heat treatment were studied. Full amorphization obtained after milling for 30 h was confirmed by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope. The morphology of powders prepared using different milling times was observed by field-emission scanning electron microscope. The powders developed a fine, layered, homogeneous structure with prolonged milling. The crystallization behavior showed that the glass transition, $T_g$, onset crystallization, $T_x$, and super cooled liquid range ${\Delta}T=T_x-T_g$ were 691,771 and 80 K, respectively. The isothermal transformation kinetics was analyzed by the John-Mehn-Avrami equation. The Avrami exponent was close to 2.5, which corresponds to the transformation process with a diffusion-controlled type at nearly constant nucleation rate. The activation energy of crystallization for the alloy in the isothermal annealing process calculated using an Arrhenius plot was 345 kJ/mol.

As an alternative of the high-level radioactive waste disposal in the subsurface repository, a deep borehole disposal is reviewed by several nuclear advanced countries. In this study, the state of the art on the borehole disposal researches was reviewed, and the possibility of borehole disposal in Korean peninsula was discussed. In the deep borehole disposal concept radioactive waste is disposed at the section of 3 - 5km depth in a deep borehole, and it has known that it has advantages in performance and cost due to the layered structure of deep groundwater and small surface disposal facility. The results show that it is necessary to acquisite data on deep geologic conditions of Korean peninsula, and to research the engineering barrier system, numerical modeling tools and disposal techniques for deep borehole disposal.
