An Ergonomic Study on the Search of Body Surface Area Changed by Movements -In the Lower Trunk and Leg- (동작(動作)에 따른 체표면변화부위(體表面變化部位)의 모색(摸索)에 관한 인간공학적(人間工學的) 연구(硏究) - 하반신(下半身)을 중심(中心)으로 -)

  • The Purposes of this study were 1)to find the body surface total line and segment line significantly(${\alpha}$=0.05) changed by the leg movement including all movement direction of hip joint, knee joint and ankle joint for the more functional clothing. 2)to classify them into 3 types-expansion type, contraction type, expansion & contraction type, and 3)to identify the characteristics of the body surface length changes. 10 Crosswise and 5 lengthwise body surface total lines and 48 crosswise & 39 lengthwise body surface segment lines of 26 female college students aged from 18 to 24 years were measured directly on the body surface and were analyzed by ANOVA & Multiple Comparison Test (Tukey). The results were as following : Body surface total lines significantly changed were all the body surface total lines except abdoman girth, 1/2thigh girth of lower leg and ankle girth, and these were classified into 3 types : Center front leg line belonged to expansion & contraction type, whereas lateral leg line, legscye girth, and total crotch length belonged to contraction type. The rest belonged to expansion type. Knee girth showed maximum expansion, whereas center front leg line showed maximum contraction. Body surface total lines have shown large expansion crosswise whereas lengthwise they have mainly shown contraction. At least more than one component segment line of each body surface total lines except abdoman girth and ankle girth have shown significant change. Top segment of inner leg line showed maximum expansion. whereas just below top segment of center front leg line showed maximum contraction. Crosswise all the body surface segment lines have shown expansion except inner back segments of thigh girth and 1/2thigh girth of upper leg which have shown contraction. Lengthwise they have shown both expansion and contraction according to the location of front or back, and below or upper 1/2thigh girth line except the component segment lines of lateral leg line, which has shown contraction only.(cf. figure 2. figure 3. and table 2-2).

The Effects of Task-Oriented Training for Left Trunk Flexion Pattern Using Real-Time Ultrasound Imaging -A Single-Subject Experimental Study- (편측무시 환자에게 실시간 초음파 영상을 이용한 왼쪽 몸통 굽힘 패턴을 적용한 과제지향적 훈련의 효과 -단일 사례 연구-)

  • Purpose: This study investigates the effects of task-oriented training for a left trunk flexion pattern using real-time ultrasound imaging in a stroke patient with unilateral neglect symptoms. Methods: This study used the ABA experimental design, which is a single-subject research method among individual case research methods. For the ABA experimental design, changes in the degree of unilateral neglect, balance ability, and the thickness of the lateral abdominal muscle were visually analyzed during the baseline process, in the intervention period, and after the intervention. The experiments were performed 24 times in total for 8 times in each of the 3 periods. The unilateral neglect was measured using the Albert test, balance ability was measured using the Berg balance test, and the thickness of the lateral abdominal muscle was measured using ultrasound imaging. The subject was a 50-year-old male patient with unilateral neglect caused by right cerebral hemorrhage. He performed task-oriented training for a voluntary left trunk flexion pattern using real-time ultrasound imaging during the intervention period. Results: The result of comparing the data collected during the intervention period with the data point average of the baseline process showed that balance ability improved and the tendency line was above the baseline. The tendency line of unilateral neglect was below the baseline and showed a decreasing tendency. The thickness of the lateral abdominal muscle showed an increasing trend and the tendency line was above the baseline. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that the task-oriented training for left trunk flexion pattern using real-time ultrasound imaging has a beneficial effect on balance ability, the degree of unilateral neglect, and the strength of the lateral abdominal muscle in unilateral neglect patients.

EFFICACY OF ENaP(ESTHETIC NaP)-LINE FOR ORTHOGNATHIC SURGERY OF KOREAN MANDIBULAR PROGNATHISM (한국인 하악골 전돌증 환자의 악교정수술을 위한 ENaP(Esthetic NaP)선의 유효성에 관한 연구)

  • As the most of dentofacial deformity patients indicated to orthognathic surgery have strong desire for esthetic improvement as well as functional improvement, ideal esthetic evaluation should be made at surgical prediction. Lateral cephalographs has been commonly used for surgical prediction, however, remarkable discrepancy between esthetic viewpoint by simple looking and analysis on lateral cephalographs often found on evaluation of sagittal position of the upper and lower jaws especially in cases of mandibular prognathism of Koreans. In these cases, we have been employed Esthetic NaP(ENaP)-line for corrective evaluation and ideal surgical prediction on lateral cephalographs, but the efficacy of ENaP-line has not been evaluated. This is a study on efficacy of ENaP-line for orthognathic surgery of Korean mandibular prognathism. 170 Korean patients who had been diagnosed as mandibular prognathism and planned for orthognathic surgery at Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, College of Dentistry, Yonsei University during last 10 years are studied. The obtained results are as followings; among 170 patients of mandibular prognathism, 132 patients(77.6%) had not discrepancy in evaluation of sagittal position of the maxilla between cephalometric and esthetic evaluation(they are classified as Group I), however, 38 patients(22.4%) had definite discrepancy(they are classified as Group II). ENaP-line was employed in all cephalometric analysis of Group II. The proportions of male and female were similar in both Groups. Sixteen vertical reference lines perpendicular to 16 horizontal reference lines were obtained as followings; Each of the representative degree of ${\angle}SN/AFH$, ${\angle}SN/CFH$ and ${\angle}AFH/CFH$ obtained at Group I was applied to SN plane, AFH plane and CFH plane of Group II each other, and so 16 horizontal reference lines could be obtained individually according to each of the applied degree to each plane. And then their reliability to coincide with ENaP-line of Group II was evaluated. A vertical reference line perpendicular to a horizontal line made by application of the representative degree of ${\angle}$AFH/CFH in Group I to AFH line in Group II had the most highest coincidence with ENaP-line of Group II, however, its agreement was 42% in male and 47% in female.   • Purpose : The aim of present study is to estimate the relationship among reference lines used for taking the extraoral radiography and panoramic radiography. Materials and Methods: Lateral cephalographs of 40 adults, aged 22 to 30 years were taken. Angles between reference lines (Frankfort line, canthomeatal line, infraorbitomeatal line, and occlusal plane) were measured. Results: Angles between Frankfort line and canthomeatal line, Frankfort line and infraorbitomeatal line, Frankfort line and occlusal plane, canthomeatal line and infraorbitomeatal line, canthomeatal line and occlusal plane, and infraorbitomeatal line and occlusal plane were 16.1° (±2.2), 5.8° (±2.4), 8.7° (±3.5), 10.3° (±1.3), 24.8° (±4.0), and 14.5° (±4.4),respectively. Conclusion: Angle between frankfort and canthomeatal line is very different with commonly known angle. Frankfort horizontal reference lines used for panoramic radiography need an exact definition and more accurate standard is needed for the taking of panoramic radiograph.

A LATERAL CEPHALOMETRIC STUDY OF THE HARD-AND SOFT TISSUE PROFILE AROUND THE FACE IN THE MIXED DENTITION (혼합치열기의 악안면 경ㆍ연조직에 관한 방사선학적 연구)

  • A study was made to investigate a relationship existing in the dentoskeletal framework and the soft tissue profile around the face, and compare the sexual differences between boys and girls having the normal occlusion in the mixed dentition. The lateral cephalograms were composed of 67 boys aged 10.3 years and 68 girls aged 10.4 years, respectively. By means of the lateral cephalograms, both the hard-and soft tissue structures were simultaneously analyzed, measured and evaluated by introducing the several reference items: S-N plane, palatal plane, mandibular plane, N-A line and A-P line for the dentoskeletal structures and N’-P’line for the soft tissue, and the 21 measuring points for the both structures. The significant findings were as follows: 1. In general the boys showed the larger nasal component dimension than did the girls, but the length and height of nose(N’-Prn and NA-Prn) showed the significant sexual difference among those when evaluated statistically. 2. The lip-thickness was found to be minimal in the region of nasion, greater in the region of pogonion, and much greater in the region of point A in the both sexes, but the only thickness over point A(A-A’) showed the significant sexual difference statistically. 3. The upper and lower lip position were found to be located anteriorly to the esthetic line in the both sexes, but upper lip position showed the significant sexual difference when evaluated statistically. 4. The regions of nose and upper lip had a tendency not to be following the underlying skeletal profile.

Three-dimensional evaluation of lingual split line after bilateral sagittal split osteotomy in asymmetric prognathism

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the pattern of lingual split line when performing a bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO) for asymmetric prognathism. This was accomplished with the use of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and three-dimensional (3D) software program. Materials and Methods: The study group was comprised of 40 patients (20 males and 20 females) with asymmetric prognathism, who underwent BSSO (80 splits; n=80) from January 2012 through June 2013. We observed the pattern of lingual split line using CBCT data and image analysis program. The deviated side was compared to the contralateral side in each patient. To analyze the contributing factors to the split pattern, we observed the position of the lateral cortical bone cut end and measured the thickness of the ramus that surrounds the mandibular lingula. Results: The lingual split patterns were classified into five types. The true "Hunsuck" line was 60.00% (n=48), and the bad split was 7.50% (n=6). Ramal thickness surrounding the lingual was $5.55{\pm}1.07$ mm (deviated) and $5.66{\pm}1.34$ mm (contralateral) (P =0.409). The position of the lateral cortical bone cut end was classified into three types: A, lingual; B, inferior; C, buccal. Type A comprised 66.25% (n=53), Type B comprised 22.50% (n=18), and Type C comprised 11.25% (n=9). Conclusion: In asymmetric prognathism patients, there were no differences in the ramal thickness between the deviated side and the contralateral side. Furthermore, no differences were found in the lingual split pattern. The lingual split pattern correlated with the position of the lateral cortical bone cut end. In addition, the 3D-CT reformation was a useful tool for evaluating the surgical results of BSSO of the mandible.

Allowable Speed of Tilting Car in the Conventional Line (기존선의 선형조건을 고려한 틸팅차량의 허용속도 평가)

  • A quantitative analysis on the amounts of cant and lateral displacement of gravitational center due to the introduction of high-speed tilting car was carried out, based on the current alignment of the conventional line. In addition, the maximum allowable speed in curve and the level of improvement in maximum speed of tilting car were evaluated through the comparison with the maximum speed of locomotive. It was found that the tilting car produces an equivalent amount of cant, which corresponds to 47.5 % of current actual cant. This effect could be explained by the fact that 1.34 m, which is the height of gravitational center of tilting car from the rail level, is much lower than that of locomotive and thus guarantees much higher level of safety in curve. The equivalent amount of cant due to the lateral displacement of gravitational center followed by tilting in curve was 2.4 mm. It was small but not enough to be neglected and must be included in calculating the maximum speed in curve. It could be concluded that the 15 % speed-up of the conventional line is reasonable under the current condition of alignment.

  • Recently, the lateral displacement of the passive piles which installed under the revetment on soft ground is very important during the land reclamation work along the coastal line. The revetment on the soft clay develops the lateral displacement of the ground when the revetment loading is exceeded a certain limit. The lateral displacement of ground causes an excessive deformation of under structure itself and develops lateral earth pressure against the pile foundation as well. Especially passive piles subjected to lateral earth pressures are likely to have excessive horizontal displacement and large bending moment, which induces structural failure of pile foundation and harmful effects on superstructure. The subject of study is to investigate the later displacement of pile foundation during the construction of container terminal at the south port of Incheon. Actual field measurement data and finite element method(FEM) by AFFIMEX Ver 3.4 were used to analyze the displacement of pile and the vertical settlement of soft ground. This analysis was carried out at each sequence of construction work.

Study on Reduction Method and Characteristic of Lateral Vibration of the Tail Car in a High Speed Train (고속철도 차량의 후미 횡진동 특성 및 저감방안에 관한 연구)

  • During the acceptance test of KTX, unexpectedly great lateral vibration in 14th~16th train at 150km/h~200km/h was appeared on a straight line in the winter season. Generally, stiffness of secondary suspension in KTX vehicle is one of the most sensitive components on air temperature. So, we examined that the secondary suspension to be mounted heating system was able to reduce the lateral vibration in the tail car of KTX. Also, we verified that lateral vibration from test results on KTX train with wheel conicity 1/20 disappeared. In this paper, we analysis effective reduction methods and the cause of the lateral vibration using model of KTX train and compare with the test results. The analysis results agree well with test ones. From mode analysis result, lateral vibration is occurred at natural frequency range 0.5~0.6Hz with a negative damping value and its natural frequency disappear gradually according to increasing of wheel concinicy.

The Study on PRAT Performance due to Tire Pattern Shapes using Steady State Rolling Analysis Method (정상 상태 롤링 해석 기법 적용을 통한 타이어 패턴 형상에 따른 PRAT 특성 연구)

  • It is generally known that the PRAT(Plysteer Residual Aligning Torque) is one of indicating a performance factors of a tire for assessing the vehicle pull, also tire pattern shape, which means lateral groove angle, is very important tire design factor in relation to the PRAT. Lateral grooves of tire pattern are widely divided into center and shoulder parts. So, this paper has studied the correlation between the PRAT and their lateral groove angles using FEM. Especially, the steady state rolling analysis among tire rolling analysis methods has been used for the PRAT performance study. Firstly, analysis result data have been compared with the experimental data to validate FE analysis for PRAT. Next, the PRAT due to the lateral groove angle about PCR(Passenger Car Radial) tire and SUV tire has been analyzed. The tendency of the PRAT due to the lateral groove angles can be used as a guide line for the tire design in relation to vehicle pull.
