  • To solve a problem of micro drive due to small size and portability, it is necessary to understand and to investigate micro drive widely ,deeply. So, we performed modal analysis of suspension of micro drive, and load/unload experiment for Input current to VCM coil and disk speed. To determine the effect of ramp profile, curve fitting of lateral speed is performed with equation of speed. The results indicate that small load/unload speeds decrease the number of head/disk contacts, and during unloading process, low disk speed increase the number of head/disk contacts.

  • This paper presents the design of LVDS(Low-Voltage-Differential-Signaling) driver circuit for Gb/s-per-pin operation using BiCMOS process technology. To reduce chip area, LVDS driver's switching devices were replaced with lateral bipolar devices. The designed lateral bipolar transister's common emitter current gain($\beta$) is 20 and device's emitter size is 2*10um. Also the proposed LVDS driver is operated at 2.5V and the maximum data rate is 2.8Gb/s approximately.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the stiffness reduction factor for flat plate slabs under lateral loads. Current design code (e.g., ACI 318-05) requires considering the effects of cracks for calculating slab stiffness under lateral loads. This study collected the test results of 20 interior slab-column connections, from which stiffness reduction in each test was estimated with respect to the ratio of applied moment to cracking moment ($M_a/M_{cr}$). Based on collected data, this study proposed equations for calculating stiffness reduction with respect to $M_a/M_{cr}$. To verify the proposed equations, this study conducted the experimental test of interior slab-column connections under quasi-static cyclic loading. From the test, load-deformation curve is compared to that obtained from effective beam width method with the proposed equation for the stiffness reduction. It is shown that the effective beam width method with the proposed equation for stiffness reduction predicts accurately the test results.

  • The Si-SiO$_2$interface trap and nitride bulk trap distribution of SONOSFET(polysilicon-oxide-nitride-oxide-semiconductor)NVSM(nonvolatile semiconductor memory) cell were investigated by single charge pumping method. The used device was fabricated by 0.35 7m standard logic fabrication including the ONO cell process. This ONO dielectric thickness is tunnel oxide 24 $\AA$, nitride 74 $\AA$, blocking oxide 25 $\AA$, respectively. Keeping the pulse base level in accumulation and pulsing the surface into inversion with increasing amplitudes, the charge pumping current flow from the single junction. Using the obtained I$_{cp}$-V$_{h}$ curve, the local V$_{t}$ distribution, doping concentration, lateral interface trap distribution and lateral memory trap distribution were extracted. The maximum N$_{it}$($\chi$) of 1.62$\times$10$^{19}$ /cm$^2$were determined.mined.d.

  • We report a new excimer laser annealing method which successfully results in a single grain boundary formation in the channel of polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor. The proposed method is based on lateral grain growth and employs aluminum patterns which act as selective beam mask and lateral heat sink. The maximum grain size obtained by the proposed method is about 1.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in the length. The grainboundaries should be arranged parallel with the direction of current flow for the best device performance, so we propose a new device fabrication method and a new poly-Si TFT structure. Poly-Si TFT fabricated by the proposed method exhibits considerably improved electrical characteristics, such as high field effect mobility exceeding 240 $cm^2$/Vsec.

  • The main focus of the current study is to evaluate the dynamic behavior of a cantilever retaining wall considering backfill and soil/foundation interaction effects. For this purpose, a three-dimensional finite element model (FEM) with viscous boundary is developed to investigate the seismic response of the cantilever wall. To demonstrate the validity of the FEM, analytical examinations are carried out by using modal analysis technique. The model verification is accomplished by comparing its predictions to results from analytical method with satisfactory agreement. The method is then employed to further investigate parametrically the effects of not only backfill but also soil/foundation interactions. By means of changing the soil properties, some comparisons are made on lateral displacements and stress responses. It is concluded that the lateral displacements and stresses in the wall are remarkably affected by backfill and subsoil interactions, and the dynamic behavior of the cantilever retaining wall is highly sensitive to mechanical properties of the soil material.

  • In this study, cyclic loading tests were conducted on the precast concrete (PC) wide beam (WB)-column joints. Two beam-column joint specimens were fabricated with the arrangement and anchorage details of the reinforcing bars penetrating the beam and column as variables. Through a cyclic loading test, the lateral load-story drift ratio responses, seismic performance characteristics (e.g., ductility, overstrength factor), energy dissipation, strength and stiffness degradations of each specimen were compared and analyzed based on the various indices and the current structural codes (ACI 318-19 and ACI 374.1-05 report). In addition, the shear lag effect was confirmed through the gauge values of the PC beam, and the differences in seismic performance between the specimens were identified on that basis.

  • Exacanthomysis marsailiae and Nipponomysis neolingvura are described as new species based on specimens collected with a light trap off the East Sea coast of Korea. E. marsailiae is closely related to Exacanthomysis alaskensis (Banner, 1954) and Exacanthomysis borealis (Banner, 1954). However, E. marsailiae can be distinguished from these species by having slightly grouped spines on lateral margins near the telson apex, and the exopod of male's fourth pleopod more than twice as long as the endopod. N. neolingvura can be distinguished from its closest relative, Nipponomysis lingvura (Murano, 1977), in that the lateral sides of the telson are all armed with spines without any empty space, and that the second segment of the fourth male pleopod is longer than the third one. The report of E. marsailiae from the East Sea of Korea extends the distribution range of the genus Exacanthomysis from the high-latitude North Pacific southward to the mid-latitude waters of the western Pacific. The morphological characteristics of the two current new species are also compared with those of their congeners.

  • The use of high-strength steels in construction of highrise and mega building structures can bring about many technological advantages from fabrication to erection. However, key design criteria such as local and lateral stability in current steel design specifications were developed based on tests of ordinary steels which have stress-strain characteristics very different from that of high strength steels. A series of tests on 800 MPa tensile strength steel (HSA800) members are summarized in this paper which were conducted to investigate the appropriateness of extrapolating current ordinary-steel based design criteria to high strength steels. 800 MPa I-shape beam specimens designed according to flange local buckling (FLB) criteria of the AISC Specification developed a sufficient strength for elastic design and a marginal rotation capacity for plastic design. It is shown that, without introducing distinct and significant yield plateau to the stress-strain property of high-strength steel, it is inherently difficult to achieve a high rotation capacity even if all the current stability limits are met. 800 MPa I-shape beam specimens with both low and high warping rigidity exhibited sufficient lateral torsional buckling (LTB) strength. HSA800 short-column specimens with various edge restraint exhibited sufficient local buckling strength under uniform compression and generally outperformed ordinary steel specimens. The experimental P-M strength was much higher than the AISC nominal P-M strength. The measured residual stresses indicated that the impact of residual stress on inelastic buckling of high-strength steel is less. Cyclic seismic test results showed that HSA800 members have the potential to be used as non-ductile members or members with limited ductility demand in seismic load resisting systems. Finally, recent applications of 800 MPa high strength steel to highrise and mega building structures in Korea are briefly presented.

  • In this paper, we report on the improved electrical and optical characteristics for decreasing current crowding effect and uniform current distribution by designing octagonal finger type electrode pattern in large-scale lateral GaN (Gallium Nitride) LED (Light-emitting diode) with numerical 3-D simulator. Compared with the conventional electrode pattern, proposed electrode pattern was investigated to confirm the improvement of characteristics. From the simulation results of 3-D SpeCLED/RATRO simulator, we found that the forward voltage was decreased by 0.34 V and the light output power was improved by 7.72 mW at the same injection current condition in the LED with proposed octagonal finger type electrode.
